Seed of Doubt
Doubt. You try to suppress it but it's not possible.
Doubt. You try to escape it but it's inevitable.
The seeds are planted, embedded in your mind,
You worry, question, scared of what you'll find.
They remain adamant they're innocent, try to reassure,
But the seeds are already sprouting, trouble beginning to stir.
Still you mull it over, fret, contemplate,
Continue to retrace, replay, get yourself in a right state.
They persist, unwaveringly insist they didn't do anything,
Of their innocence they shout, scream and sing.
But you allow that seed of doubt to keep growing, blossoming, blooming,
And now it's too late, they've given up, at you they're now fuming.
For trust is a valuable thing, special, earned, precious,
So people don't just dish it out anytime, anywhere, they aren't that gracious.
How can you trust someone completely, totally, unconditionally,
When you're fast to judge, dismiss them so quickly?
For if you mistrust them for everything unusual they say and do,
How can you ever expect them to trust you?
So all I'm saying is careful who you doubt,
For trust takes time to build, so first make sure you know what you're talking about.
