Chapter 2
We pulled into my driveway, and sat in the car quietly. "When did you move back?" He asked.
"About a year ago." I mumbled. "What happened to our high school?"
"Not sure."
"It looks..."
"I know it brings back memories. Does the same for me to be honest." He faced me, but I refused to look at him. "Did you miss me like I missed you?" I bit my lip.
"At first I felt like I was dying, and well I was going through depression. It was awful, but I managed, and I moved back here. By then I thought you'd left for good so... I kinda faced the facts that I might never see you again, and that... it killed me a little. So to answer your question. It was worse."
"Oh... I'm sorry." I looked over at him, finally making eye contact.
"It wasn't your fault." I felt his hand slip into mine, and I blushed.
"Are you blushing?" I looked away, moving my hand from his.
"I know we were a thing back when, but just because we're here now together doesn't mean I'm going to jump back into your arms, and beg you to love me. This isn't some trashy romance novel. Plus I have a job. And that job permits that I can't have any... relationships with possible suspects."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He growled.
"It means that no matter what I say it has no effect until the officials decided whether you're guilty or not. So whether or not you are guilty I don't have a say in it." I growled.
I got out of the car, and slammed the door shut. I walked up to the front door and angrily flipped through the keys on my chain until I found the right key. I heard the other car door slam and I spun around.
Aaron was right behind me, and I angrily pushed him away. "Why'd you go and get yourself caught up in this mess!?" I growled.
"Don't blame me!" I opened the door, and ran upstairs, throwing my bedroom door open, and slammed it shut behind me. I sunk to the floor. I felt a warm feeling rising up through me. I stood up and changed out of my uniform into a tee shirt and jeans. I sat on my bed, staring at the floor.
I heard a knock on the door, and it opened. I looked up angrily. "What!?" I snapped.
"Look I'm sorry for... trying to... yeah," he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, you should be," I hissed.
"You know you've really changed," he frowned.
"People change from certain events. I've changed through depression, you changed through... love."
"Love? That wasn't love." He laughed bitterly.
"What do you consider love?" I asked, standing up, walking towards him. His face turned red.
"Would it bother you if I showed you?" He asked.
"What does that mean?" I asked. He grabbed my face, and pulled me into a kiss. I was confused. Yes we kissed today, but it was... an accident? I kissed back, and he pulled away.
"What about the rules?"
"Screw the rules. You need to loosen up sometimes," I smiled a little, and he kissed me again.
I heard my phone ringing from my work clothes. I pulled away and picked it up through the pile and answered. "Hello?"
"Hey, how's the boy?"
"Hey, Fallen. Fine," I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, no funny business, right?"
"What the heck does that mean!?"
"You and him, mwah, mwah." She giggled.
"Just... stop. That's... not, don't."
"What? I know you were."
"Whatever. Is that the only reason you called?"
"No, we need you down at the station so we can question some of their neighbors."
"Okay... I'll be down there in ten." I hung up. and tossed my phone on bed. I pushed Aaron out of the room, and changed back into my uniform then tucked my phone in my pocket, and my gun in my waistband. Then left the room, putting my hair up.
"Where are you going?" He asked. I sat him down on the couch, and tightened my pony tail.
"Down to question." I nodded.
"Then I should come too." He said standing up.
"Sure, they wanted to question you anyways." I nodded. We walked out to my car, and we drove to the police station.
We got out, and I walked him inside. There on a bench I saw all my high school friends. They all stared at me as I pushed Aaron down next to them. "Okay. Who's going first?" I asked.
No one answered. They all just stared at me, confused. "No one wants to answer? Fine. Fallen, can pick."
"Oh, okay!" She stepped forward a little surprised. She checked the list. "Garroth Ro'Meave."
He sat there, staring at his lap like we didn't say anything. I rolled my eyes, typical. I grabbed him by the shoulder, pulling him to his feet, and dragging him into the interrogation room. I sat him down, and walked to the other side of the table.
"Tell me, Garroth how did you know, Aphmau?"
"You're seriously going to act like you don't even know me!?" He yelled.
"Well that would have violated the rules, but now that you say it I will try to acknowledge that I don't know you," I smirked. "Now answer me. How did you know her?"
"We were friends! I mean we were just friends!"
"Did you feel obligated to kill anyone in your life?"
"No!" He growled.
"Okay, were you jealous of, Aaron's relationship with Aphmau?" He stayed quiet.
"Yes." He finally responded, and I raised my eyebrows. "But I would never hurt her! I loved her!"
"Clearly," I rolled my eyes. "Fallen?" I tapped on the glass and there was a tap back.
"You're clear to go," I nodded. A minute after he left Kawaii~Chan walked in. Granted I didn't know her very well, but she seemed nice enough. There was a tap on the window. "You can go."
"But you didn't even ask, Kawaii~Chan any questions!"
"To be honest you're not exactly screaming threatening." I shrugged. She sighed in relief before leaving.
"Ahhh, Zane. Good to see you, you jerk."
