The scamallach

A striped leopard dressed in a pirates attire swings from a rope, landing gracefully at the wheel of their ship "set sail me Maties!" She cried out, taking the wheel and giving it a spin, a scruffy looking kangaroo replied with an "aye aye cap'n" and tugged at a rope. crisp, white sails rose high into the sky, catching the wind and setting the ship a sail, the salty water curled in waves and crashed gently on the front of the boat as it picked up speed. The leopard, sunny, lifted her nose to the breeze, taking in the salty air and taste of freedom.  Albin, her trusty pet , lifted his head lazily, he was lounged on the map in the captain quarters. He looked around and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He slithered up through a crack in the boards and up the wheel. Sunny offered her hand to him, and the snake climbed up and around her shoulders, hissing happily.

Sunset called out to the kangaroo "lower the anchor fizz!" With which he replied "aye aye cap'n!". The sound of heavy chains dragging slowly on the wood followed the heavy anchor down to the bottom of the sea, and sunset pulled a key from around her neck, unlocking the access to below deck, in the bunkhead the room was split, on the very end was a small space occupied by 6 bunks and a small shelving space stuffed full with bags and clothes. 2 of the bunks were neatly made with soft blue sheets tightly spread over the mattress. The others were messed and covered with personal items and blankets. This room was separated from the rest of the bunkhead by a heavy grey curtain.the captains quarters also had a bed, which Albin occupied as the captain chose to sleep alongside the rest of the crew, though on occasions she'd curl up by albin's side after a rough day. The rest of the room was a kitchen with a table in the center. Sunset opened a few cupboards and pulled out a large pot, a few food items and a bottle of wine. She lay out the ingredients on the bench and began tossing them into the pot, she left the stew to cook while she went to raid the food supply.

The rest of below deck was empty save a few cannons and ropes. Near the hull shelves where packed tightly with barrels, crates and drums. Sunset pulled down one of the smaller crates, prying the top open and pulling out a cabbage and two small loaves of stale bread. She closed the crate and put it back on the shelf, returning to the kitchen to find That fizz had already set the table, she broke the bread and set a portion of fish stew for each member on board, tossing a raw fish to Albin, who gobbled it up happily.  She placed the bread in a basket in the center of the table and poured wine into everyone's glasses. She went to the entrance and gave a sudden, sharp whistle, signalling the others to come in. The crew happily ate their meal before helping wash up and heading back up to finish their work.

Sunset climbed out of the hatch and stretched. She helped fizz tie a few ropes down and pull up the anchor. A scruffy looking bear called down from the crows nest "seems like we're headin for some strong weather cap'n" . sunset pulled out her own telescope from her belt and looked through it to the oncoming dark clouds, blackened swirls of  unwanted rain and far off lightning.  She counted the seconds between the lighting and the rolling thunder "aye, and it's not far off either jack!" She called back to the bear. He leapt out of the crows nest and gracefully down the rigging. Suddenly there was a loud thud, and the boat jerked softly. Val, an arctic fox dressed with a heavy belt weighed down by tools and covered with dust, pointed to something in the water "captain you better come see this" Sunset's ears perked and she came to His side "what is-" She cut herself off, down by the side of the boat, floating gently in the water was an unconscious wolf, sunset leapt over the edge of the boat and, holding onto the side, dragged the limp body from the water and tossing it, soaking, on deck. Once out of the water they could see that the wolf had the tail of a shark, and was dressed in tattered clothing. Sunset looked up to the sky, the dark clouds almost upon them now.

"He'll have t' stay onboard with us till this storm blows over, Val, take him below deck, it'll be safer down there. Albin, jack, frizz, ready the ship. This storm is gonna be a strong one" everyone nodded and ran off in seperate directions. Sunset leapt over rail and onto the quarter deck, taking the wheel. Jack barked out directions in which the wind and storm were headed, he held an old compass in one hand and a telescope in the other. Frizz put up the storm sails and tied down the ropes. Val rushed about making sure nothing would go over board when the waves hit, moving barrels, loose rope and planks below deck. Albin slithered up onto Sunset's shoulder and hissed "I'm a little afraid captain.." sunset gave his head a pat "we'll be right.. I hope" she muttered the last part as to not worry the snake.
