4 The Solar Eclipse
POV Belle
It’s like my core is burning up as I woke up into the intense pain. It made me throw up over the edge of my bed and my feet were trembling when I got up. I’m feeling the heat trying to force itself out from me.
I go to bathroom and I watch into mirror. My eyes are circled by pink shade and I’m all sweaty. My hair is sticking against my head as I open up the tap.
I gasped when I saw the metallic tap melting away. First it got vivid red and then I see the metal melting down the train and water sprays towards the ceiling. The drops that landed on my skin vaporized as steam from me.
“N-no,” I whispered as I walked backwards.
My head felt like it would explode right now. I ran to front door and when I touched the handle it started to blacken into charcoal. I gasped as it started to flame up.
“I can’t hold it back m-much longer,” I mumbled as I got outside.
I sighed and let flames flow out from my hand. It eased my pain, when I was able to let some of my power out.
I glance at the sun. “Sun.. why do I have to go through this?” I whispered. I knew that my power was unique, it comes from the sun and not from the moon like other Guardians have.
I look at the red flame that’s playing in my hand. The flame that’s alive but dead, it can help to create and destroy life. So beautiful and deadly.
I sighed and I tried to get the flames to go off.
It didn’t work. I watch in horror the flame that’s increasing.
“I.. I don’t want this power anymore,” I cried to the morning sun that was smiling at the sky. Instead of the fire to go away, it just spread from my hand, slowly licking its way up on my arm.
I screamed when the flames increased more and more. I tried to wave my hand but it didn’t help. I see trees and grass burn to ashes around me, I look back and I see my comfy log cabin being in flames.
Everything is burning. The flame is swallowing my body. “HELP,” I screamed and then I feel the flame going up on my neck. It went up and it lit my hair, slowly spreading towards my face.
I just hear the roaring flames. My eyesight is being covered by the fire that’s now covering me fully. I cried out loud, falling to my knees and covering my head.
It’s too late now. My tears are turning into steam as I cry and I stare at the sun that’s almost like laughing at me and my desperation.
I’ve lost control and my flames have made the whole forest burn. The fire is spreading and going towards Arendelle.
Whole world will burn.
POV Elsa
We all gathered at the North Pole. It was time to discuss about our findings regarding of the increased amount of nightmares going around the world.
Only ones missing were Jackson and Belle but we decided to hold the meeting in any case.
“Has anyone found out anything useful?” Jack asked and I took a hold from his hand. He laced his fingers with mine and glanced at me gratefully. Knowing that Pitch might be back was hard on him. Sometimes he had nightmares even though the horses weren’t near him. He was afraid that he might turn evil again like he once did because of the nightmare sands poison.
“Sorry mate, nothing,” Bunny said and spread his arms.
“Yes. There’s absolutely nothing else than the horses galloping around the globe and causing children bad dreams,” North sighs and then he rubbed his belly.
“What now?” Jack sighed.
“I feel it in my belly,” North whispered.
“Feel what exactly?” Bunny said and crossed his arms. He leaned back on the wall.
“The King of Nightmares must be back. I feel it,” North gulped.
Jack groaned and rolled his eyes.
“What! It has been right before,” North mumbled.
“I think that Manny could speak to us for once,” Jack sighed and let go of my hand. He flew to sit on a desk.
Jonathan walks in and places Lionel to floor. The little boy starts to wobble around North’s shop and I chuckled to his actions.
“Is there any news?” Jonathan asks and runs his hand through his hair before going to stand next to Emma who leans her head against his shoulder.
“None,” Emma sighs.
“Maybe we should search more?” I suggested.
Toothiana giggled when Lionel went to her and fell against her leg. “Yes, Elsa might be right,” Tooth said chuckling but then she cleared her throat.
“We know that the nightmare creatures are back but we haven’t found their ruler yet,” Toothiana said and we all agreed.
“Maybe if we try to follow the horses--,” North started.
“Been there, done that,” Jack groaned.
“Maybe we could set up a trap?” Bunny said and glanced at Lionel who was playing with one of Toothiana’s tooth fairies.
Emma gasped, “No way we’re using my son as a bait!”
Bunny shrugged his shoulders and we all remained quiet.
Then I notice how the moon starts to shine brightly. “The moon has something to tell,” I whispered and we all go to the spot where the light is pointing at.
The moon shows us the figures of nightmare horses. “What are you trying to tell, Manny?” North whispered. Almost immediately we see a shadow of a man.
“The Nightmare King,” North gulped.
“Pitch is.. back?” Jack whispered and stared at the dark figure. Then it vanished.
We all were in shock. The fear truly had returned to the world.
Suddenly the silence was broke by Jonathan. He started to speak with his voice that sounded like it was coming from far but still near.
“He is foreseeing,” Emma whispered.
“When day comes night, the moon covers the sun. Then the disastrous power of burning flame is at the weakest. Then it can be killed and the world be saved. This is the battle between moon and the sun,” Jonathan spoke with his eyes glowing white and his body floating in the air.
When the prophecy ended Jonathan fell to floor and Emma ran to give him support.
“This is bad,” Emma cried and embraced Jonathan.
“Well, he has had those before. Mate will be fine,” Bunny reassured Emma.
Emma shook her head, “I think that Belle is the flame! She’s been odd lately. W-what if she’s the one that we need to defeat to save the world?”
My heart sank. “W-we can’t.. S-she’s one of us.. she is my daughter. We can’t kill her,” I sobbed and Jack rushed to hold me. I buried my face against his shoulder as he hushed me.
The King of Nightmares has returned. We have to defeat Pitch again but this! This is too much!
“J-Jack.. how can we destroy our d-daughter?” I cried against his shoulder.
“Let’s hope that we don’t have to,” Jack said gently and I noticed the sadness in his voice. Emma was crying while she was holding unconscious Jonathan. It’s like the moment had just paused.
When this night ends it’s the end of May. The day when the moon covers the sun. The time of Solar Eclipse.
POV Jackson
“Wake up,” Fern shoved me from my shoulder and I slowly sit on the bed. I stretched out and then my eyes widened.
“Everything is alright with the baby, right?” I gulped and placed my hand on her abdomen quickly.
Fern started to laugh and lifted my face to look at her. She was smiling warmly and her raven black hair was a bit messy after night’s sleep. “We’re fine Jackson,” Fern whispered and kissed my cheek and I sighed from relief.
“Umm.. it’s our day off. Why are we waking up early?” I asked as I let my hand brush through her hair. I saw her eyes narrowing, the usual cheerful spark in her emerald green eyes turned into concern.
“Don’t you smell it?” She whispered. I glance at her and I inhale deeply.
“I mean it can just be the reason of my pregnancy but I swear that I smell smoke,” Fern says concerned and rose up from the bed. She places her hand to caress her abdomen as she walks to window. She can move fairly easy even though she is now six months pregnant.
“No, I don’t smell anything,” I said as I stood up.
“Jackson!” Fern practically screamed from the window and pointed outside. I almost fell while I climbed out from the bed. The sound of bells started to ring as I got to window.
I saw a sight which I didn’t ever want to witness. A huge fire was approaching Arendelle from the mountains. Whole forest was burning.
“This is bad,” I whispered and Fern squeezed my hand. I look at her and then I felt a huge urge to protect our unborn child.
“Fern,” I said strictly and I embraced her.
She wrapped her arms around my neck and I kissed her cheek. “I need to go and try to stop it,” I whispered to her ear.
“Be safe?” Fern said and tried to stop her voice from cracking.
“Yeah, I’ll be safe. Now, you should go to North Pole,” I said as I went to drawer. I took out one snow globe that I brought to her.
I smiled to Fern warmly, “Tell to my family what’s happening. This fire can be stopped with their help.” Fern narrowed her eyebrows and nodded her head.
When I was running towards the window I felt how Fern grabbed a hold of my wrist. “A kiss?” She said quietly while walking towards me. She gave me one kiss filled with her emotions of love and fear that something might happen to me. It was like she wanted to kiss me forever. Then I felt how our child kicked through her abdomen and we parted from the kiss laughing.
“I guess that our child wants you to go now. Just.. come back to me,” Fern said softly as she walked backwards.
“I will,” I replied as I ran to window. I jumped out and flew towards the fire. I heard how Fern went through portal and to North Pole.
I saw people running inside the city gates, the fire was intense and approaching. Could it be that.. that my sister is the one to blame? No, she wouldn’t hurt anyone.
I landed in front of the flame wall and I used my wind to push it back and then I made it snow. The heat was making me sweaty and I had hard time to breathe because it was so hot and the smoke was burning inside my lungs. I’m mortal, I might die but I need to protect Arendelle and my family.
I glance at my hand. “I need to know the source,” I whispered and then I point my hand at the flames. I’m making an icy path for me and using wind to give me a safe passage tunnel between the flames.
Something tells me that I need to get to Belle’s cabin. Slowly I’m approaching the area.
Then I saw her.
“Belle!” I shouted and I ran forward while my powers keep me intact from the flames.
Belle jumps up from the ground. She is covered in flames and she lifts her hands up in front of her chest. “No! Jackson, it’s not safe! Don’t come closer!” She screamed.
”Why are you doing this!” I shouted.
“I don’t know!” Belle cried and held her head.
WHOOM.
A wind starts to circle around us and I see my father using his ice powers to secure the area. My mother is hanging from his neck and they seem to be in shock.
“T-the prophecy,” Emma whispered as she arrived through portal with North, Bunny, Toothiana and Sandy.
“Wait.. Our sister? She’s making the world?” I gasped and turn around to look at Belle.
“To burn..” Belle yelled and started to cry.
“Belle, we’re going to fix this,” our mother said gently and tried to approach her. However she had to back up.
Our father used his ice powers to cool the surroundings and I helped him. “This won’t last long dad!” I shouted as the flames made the place melt.
“We need to get her to North Pole before whole Arendelle is lost,” my mother whispered.
I reach to my pocket and I took out a snow globe.
“Belle! Listen! I’ll throw this snow globe and you run like hell through it and go to North Pole. We’ll fix this there!” I shouted and Belle nodded her head. Her arms, legs, torso and hair were all covered with flame that kept burning.
I threw the snow globe and Belle ran through the portal. “Follow her,” My father said to me and I nodded my head. I see how my parents were putting out the flames from Arendelle and I quickly flew through the portal and followed Belle.
The whole ground around her had been melted from the snow. Other Guardians arrived through the portal also.
“Make it stop!” Belle begged while she was on her knees, embracing herself. I knew how she was feeling.
“Belle, don’t be scared! This will be fixed!” I told her.
Belle shook her head, “It’s not the matter of me being scared or not. My powers are different! They come from the sun! Please make it stop!” She cried aloud.
“Let’s seal her,” Emma whispered and touched the ground. I see vines coming through and then they started to make a barrier around Belle.
I raised my hand and started to create ice wall with my parents. “I don’t know how to help her,” North whispered.
“Do something!” I shouted to them.
“The power of hers is too great, we would burn,” Bunny sighed. I glance at my sister who is crying uncontrollably.
“Jackson,” Emma whispered.
“Yup?” I asked as I concentrated on keeping my littlest sister sealed.
“You can still get the ice sword?” She questioned and I nodded my head.
“Why?”
Emma sobbed a bit, “Jonathan.. he told the only solution to this while being in his state. She can be stopped only when the moon covers the sun, at solar eclipse. It’s a brief moment and .. it weakens her so she can be killed, when the suns power is at the mildest.” Emma started crying.
“No, I refuse,” I shouted.
“That might be the only solution,” my father sighed and I saw tears running down on his cheeks.
The sky was turning darker and I noticed how the sun was being covered slowly. I look at my sister, the flames on her had eased down a bit.
“S-she’s getting better! See!” I gulped.
Our mother shook her head, ”No.. the prophecy tells that her powers will explode after the eclipse. This is the battle between moon and the sun.”
“What the heck! No!” I cried and look at Belle.
“Stop me before it’s too late,” Belle whispered.
I bit my lower lip as I see the sun being fully covered. I sighed in agony as I created my ice sword. Then I lifted it in front of me and I walked towards Belle while trying to hold on my tears.
“Ummm.. mates?” Bunny gulped and I turn around.
“You found another solution?” I asked with high hopes. Bunny shook his head and pointed up.
I started to gasp for air. The sky was filled with nightmare horses. They were surrounding us.
“Mum, dad,” I said and they look up too.
“Pitch,” father hissed and lifted his staff up. He shot one nightmare horse that turned into golden sand.
“Stop destroying my creation,” a voice spoke.
“Show yourself coward!” My father shouted and then we saw the silver golden eyes glowing in the darkness at the sky.
“You really want to kill a family member? Just to prevent world from burning?” The voice roared and slowly a cloud was being moved by a faint breeze of wind. The owner of the voice was riding a nightmare horse.
“I think that I won’t let you kill her,” the voice shouted and I see the horse galloping down.
The moon is slowly drifting away from covering the sun and the flames intensity is increasing.
“JACKSON! DO IT NOW!” Belle yelled and I turn around. My heart is aching as I ran forward. However a nightmare horse stopped me by kicking me down. Our father tried to shot Belle with ice spikes but the rider of the nightmare horse broke the spikes with his nightmare sand spear.
A/N:
