26 Assassin

In a kingdom, far away from Arendelle darkness was covering the minds of the citizen as well as the ruler. He was known as the iron fist that ruled with fear. No one dared to rise against him, people were trying to stay alive by just keeping themselves as low as possible. Rise your head above his and it would be cut off. Everyone knew that you should be lower than him, you’re lower than a worm.

It was the Kingdom of King Ruben, he had slaughtered the other rulers that were his uncles. He was the son of Hans who had found a strong ally. Ally from people’s deepest fears which they would experience in their Nightmares. You all should know him, the one who feeds off from fear and it’s known as the Lord of Nightmare’s and dark ages.

For the Guardians he was just simply known as Pitch. He had a dark devoured heart without any love in it. He had found Ruben through his Nightmare’s of failing and not being the King of two Kingdoms. Ruben was raised to feel the graving to once rule both Arendelle and Western Islands. No matter what the cost would be.

Now, in his middle age he was closer to his goal than ever before. The citizen bowed to him, obeyed his every order without hesitation. The army of his soldiers and the Nightmares were a strong opponent to everyone. Young King of Arendelle shall be defeated, he thought and laughed by himself as he watched his troops gathering on his castle yard.

“You called,” a voice of his strongest assassin, Drago, spoke to him. Ruben turned around, his amber eyes flashing with hate and poison in his words he spoke. “Yes. It’s time for you to make your move and kill the King of Arendelle. That’s our first step to victory,” Ruben laughed blankly and Drago grinned deviously. “That shall be done,” he said and turned around. Drago grabbed his weapons on his way and left the Western Islands.

Drago was a heartless follower of Ruben known as dragon whisperer. He had been promised his own men and a ship if he would be able to kill the King of Arendelle known as Jackson Frost. He would do just that but in a slow and painful way, leaving him to bleed to death after burning his flesh in small areas.

People suffering was important to Drago and he enjoyed when someone screamed and begged for mercy. It was music to his ears. He whistled and his young dragon companion flew to him, he jumped on top of it’s back and they were now flying towards Arendelle.

It was not a travel that long for a mighty beast that mother was fire and father was air. Now they were already seeing the mountainside of Arendelle after traveling the third of the time what it would take with ships.

They landed on the edge of a forest and Drago patted it’s companions back. He would now go and sneak inside the castle. He knew what to look for.

Jackson was just finishing his duties like signing the paper’s and hearing the citizens when he thought of going to meet his fiancé. He grabbed his coat and opened his window. He climbed on the edge and jumped down, he called for the wind and it started to carry him.

The way the wind felt on his skin had always been something that Jackson really enjoyed. He spread his arms and closed his eyes as he flew high and then he landed on the courtyard. He smiled to himself as he walked outside from the castle’s gates, unknowing that someone was watching him from the shadows.

Jackson knocked Fern’s window and felt happy when he saw her. “Hey,” he whispered as he flew inside. Fern hugged him. “I was wondering if we could go out?” Jackson whispered to her ear and held her tightly.

“Yes. It sounds good but I need to do my work first, help out mum. You know,” she said and kissed Jackson’s cheek. “Meet up in our usual place?” She smiled and Jackson was taken by that smile. He nodded his head and gave one quick farewell kiss to her before leaving.

They had agreed on meeting at the pond after two hours and Jackson decided to go ahead. He needed sometimes some time alone since in the castle everyone often wanted to meet him about various of reasons. This was his alone time to clear up his head.

To kill the time Jackson was sitting on a rock near the pond. He was creating small whirls of snow and wind in the ground and watching as they grew and then vanished. That had always calmed him down. What he didn’t know was the fact that he was still being watched from behind the trees.

Jackson created a snowflake that was drifting towards Arendelle’s town which he loved much. He was thinking how his life had finally found it’s way and for the happiness he found. He closed his eyes and leaned back, enjoying the fresh air and the sounds of nature.

Then the wind carried a burnt smell to his nose and he sat up. He was looking around him, the smell was like when Belle had accidentally burned some leaves when she was a child. However he didn’t see anything but when he turned around he saw how an arrow flew at him. With an easy jump to his side he dodged it and he watched how the arrow hit on a tree behind of him. It went in deep.

“What on earth,” he mumbled and then he heard a yell. He felt how he was knocked into the ground. He was staring at a huge looking man with fierce eyes. “Just.. calm down, we can chat our way out of this,” Jackson tried to reason with him but the man pulled out a sword.

Jackson tried to escape but the man kicked him and Jackson flew against the tree. He lost the air from his lungs because of the impact. “Who are you?” Jackson hissed and was breathing heavily.

The man walked towards him and his fingers were tapping the handle of a blade that was tied on his waist. “Name is Drago but it doesn’t matter, you’re dead soon anyway.. boy,” Drago laughed blankly and Jackson’s eyes flashed open from fear.

Jackson tried to shot ice at him but Drago took out his sword which started flaming immediately. He deflected Jackson’s attack with it. “Dragon flames,” Drago grinned when he faced Jackson.

“Please,” Jackson whispered but Drago raised his sword and sunk it in Jackson’s abdomen. Jackson grunted and when Drago pulled out the blade he shouted from pain. Jackson fell to ground and coughed blood afer the blade was pulled out.

“Do me a favor.. and die out. Your sweet Arendelle will soon be part of Ruben’s Kingdom. The war starts tonight,” Drago laughed while walking away. Jackson tried to stop him but he was too weak. His wind faded away almost immediately after casting it.

Jackson was drifting in and out from consciousness. He barely heard the scream of Fern who arrived to their meeting.

Fern kneeled next to Jackson and lifted his head on her lap. She was crying and tried to stop the bleeding. The way she begged Jackson to stay with her was making Jackson feel guilty. He couldn’t make a promise like that, not right now. He know that the cut was fatal and he couldn’t hold on much longer.

Jackson reached his shaking hand towards Fern and petted her cheek gently. “I l-love you,” Jackson whispered and gave her a faint smile. Fern sobbed and tried to smile back, she was looking at Jackson’s warm brown eyes that she loved and now there was dark circles going around them.

Fern closed her eyes and then she yelled, “BELLE!” She hoped that Jackson’s sister would be at home and could come to help them. She was living in a cabin in these woods, in the nearby.

Fern startled when Jackson started coughing. He was squeezing Fern’s hand and wished that things wouldn’t be like this. Then he remembered Drago’s threat.

“F-fern, listen to m-me” Jackson whispered but it was exhausting to him. He was panting and Fern got concerned. “Stop talking,” Fern said quietly and her fingers went through his silver white hair.

Jackson shook his head, “N-no. Listen.. R-Ruben.. h-he he will attack on Arendelle.. t-tonight.” Jackson managed to say and breathed heavily. His breath was clicking and then he coughed again. His hand was shaking when he watched the blood drops in it. Quickly he wiped his blood stained mouth to his sleeve.

Suddenly Fern heard running. Then she saw Belle, she was coming to them and now Fern felt little better. “What happened!” Belle said as she fell on her knees next to Jackson. “I don’t know,” Fern sobbed.

Fern watched as Belle burnt the wound close with her powers. “I will get Emma b-but this stops the bleeding, keep him awake..” Belle whispered and wiped a tear from her eye. Then she glared at Jackson. “He WILL be alright,” Belle said as if she meant it for Jackson to hear.

Before Belle left Fern told her about Ruben and what would happen to Arendelle. Belle sworn to avenge for her brother and protect Arendelle but not sooner than Jackson would be alright.

Fern watched as Belle threw a snowglobe on the ground, she only used it for fast travels. Then her eyes went back to Jackson whose eyes were getting heavy. Fern shook him and he was more alert again. “Don’t fall asleep,” Fern whispered and kissed Jackson’s forehead. She wished that she would have been here sooner. Maybe this would not have happened.
