21 Rising Threat

POV Jack

The Darkness is showing it’s presence again. I’m slowly getting close to Arendelle after  doing my responsibilities as a guardian. We had an emergency meeting soon after getting back to Arendelle last time. China had some trouble with Pitch and his dark horses, he was trying to get his power’s grow again so we had to act as a group. Me and Sandy took care of the horses while North, Kangaroo and Tooth took care of the scared children. This time we made it in time but I’m afraid that Pitch might strike again because now he was nowhere to be seen.

As soon as I reach the familiar mountainside close to Arendelle my heart fills with joy because I’ll see Elsa soon. On the ground few feet under me was some movement. It caught my eye because no one usually wander’s in the mountains. There were dark shadows and I decided to check what it was about.

I landed and hid behind a tree. Then I saw them, there were 40 horses, black as darkest night. First I felt scared because they were too close to Arendelle, my future wife and unborn child. My fellow guardians were back at the North Pole but I didn’t have time to get them.

I dropped on the ground on my knees. My grip tightened around my staff and my head leaned to it. Before my eyes they were still, the 40 nightmare horses and their breath was forming steam from their nostrils in this cool night at the mountains. “What should I do, Manny?” I gazed the moon to look for answers, it was quiet and stars were giving ghostly shadows in the forest.

The horses were still making their way towards Arendelle. Feeling of anger was racing from inside of me.

“No!” I screamed and started to run towards the horses. They attacked with their full power, kicking me with their hooves and biting my flesh. First horse I froze and it fell apart. Next one I hit to pieces and some more got a direct hit from my ice beam.

Suddenly I was catching my breath on the ground after a bigger black horse had kicked me on back. My staff was thrown from my hands and now I was defenseless. I rolled on the ground avoiding to get stamped on. After I got my staff I focused my strength and hit the ground with it. I created a storm from ice and snow which blasted around me.

Horses were destroyed and Pitch was still not to be seen. I glanced through the surroundings in case of there would be more nightmare horses. Gladly I couldn’t find any and I continued my travel back to Arendelle and to see my love.

My strength was drained in the battle and the last moments off the trip I struggled to keep myself in the air. My relieve was huge when I entered through our bedroom window and saw Elsa sleeping peacefully. She and the baby were safe.

I limbed to bed and fell onto it. My hand let go off the staff and it made a wooden noise when it hit the brick floor. My concentration went to breath steadily, I didn’t realize that I was this exhausted.

POV Elsa

“Mm.. You came back.” I opened my eyes when i felt Jack get to bed. He was breathing heavily and I felt worried about him.

“Are you all right Jack?” I didn’t manage to get my voice not sound worried.

“Sorry to wake you up. Nothing is wrong.” He started to laugh and it stopped soon after he moaned in pain.

I knew that he wouldn’t let me look at him unless I froze his legs to bed. “What are you doing?” He asked immediately. ”Stop lying to me Jack! You’re not ok, you sound you’re in pain. Let me take a look.” He was telling me not to but I lit the light and stared at him.

His eyes looked terrified because he couldn’t escape from this situation. “I will look Jack, no matter what you say. “ Look on his face turned to more amenable as I started to pull his hoodie off. “Ouch, be careful Elsa.” He hissed between his teeth.

His body was in bruises and I saw that he had to have broken ribs. This was worse than I imagined after seeing his face bruised and bleeding. I fetched some water and cleaned his wounds and through that we both were silent. He was certainly avoiding our eyes to confront.

“What happened?” I broke the silence and he swallowed. ”Uh, I had to fight.” My mouth tightened because I felt betrayed.

“Jack. You promised me to be safe. Is the guardian work really this dangerous? I mean shouldn’t the other’s watch your back?” I tried to suppress my tears and he placed his hand on my cheek.

“I will be fine in no time Elsa, a body of a guardian heals fast you know. “ He was smiling to give me comfort. “These wounds came from a battle of my own. There were some trouble with Pitches nightmares nearby. I wanted you to be safe.” His voice was breaking and he looked so vulnerable.

I hugged him and he made small groan of pain but he hugged me back. “I’m glad you came back but don’t get hurt anymore. Please!” I cried on his shoulder and he was holding me close.

After I got a control of myself I stated to him that I will most certainly take care of him tomorrow. He nodded back to me even though he said that he would be fine by morning. He gave me a kiss and I melted his legs from the ice. Soon he fell asleep and I slept next to him.

At the morning I noticed that Jack in fact had healed. However he was still sleeping even though he normally wakes up before me. I watched him sleeping, his gorgeous face made my heart still beat like crazy and I felt calm when sawing his chest move slowly in same time with his breathing.

His eyes opened and he watched me straight in the eyes. “So you’re watching me sleeping, aren’t you?” He smirked and tried to hide his blushing. “Let me get you something to eat.” He was raising from the bed but i pulled him back and froze him to bed from his legs.

He looked amazed. “You promised that I could take care of you today and now I will get you something to eat.” I rushed towards kitchen and he yelled behind me that he should be the one to get me something because I’m the one expecting. He also said that he doesn’t like the idea of me going so many stairs. His statements made me smile the whole way to kitchen. I grapped some fruits and cake to him to eat.

When i entered to bedroom he started to laugh and i felt happy at that moment. “Sweet things are in your mind nowadays?” He was teasing me. “I mean you prefer sweet things like cake and fruits after you got pregnant.”

I grinned. “So you have noticed a change?” He stopped laughing and smiled warmly. “Yeah, among other things.” Then laughter brought the silence. “Would you mind letting me go?” Then I again melted the ice from his legs.

We ate at the bed and talked about our wedding. He wasn’t liking the idea of wearing a formal suit but said yes after I persuaded him long enough. There were only one week before our wedding.
