Chapter 2: The Friend's Scheme

And I know that it must be the woman in you

That brings out the man in me

I know I can't help myself

You're all that my eyes can see

And it feels like the first time

Like it never did before

Feels like the first tine

Like we've opened up the door

Feels like the first time

Like it never will again, never again ....

ZANDROS leaned closer to his beautiful wife, Lauren. Both looks so utterly in love. "We need Henrique to attend the party, moro mou. Maybe you can get him to the party," Zandros said softly.

As soon as Alexandrous fell asleep for his late nap, the two cuddled on the couch since Zandros' nap already been interrupted by Demetrio's call, so instead he spends it with his wife, cuddling.

Cuddling her is more tempting either, especially he got her all by himself this time. Ashley always calls her and both stuck on the phone for God knows how long, or they go out and hang around. He thought it's the cons of having a very young wife.

But, he still wouldn't trade anything for less. He loves him so much to care about anything else.

Lauren scrunched her eyebrows. She knew their plan to set up Adriana with Nicolas, but why would they need Henrique for? Then, she remembered something in the bar. Adriana was with Henrique before and he got hit by Nicolas and took Adriana home.

Lauren grinned.

"Babe, Henrique is dating Sophia. I don't think Sophia would like the thought of his boyfriend flirting with Adriana." Lauren shook her head in disapproval and she knew it won't work.

"He's not really going to pursue Adriana, moro mou. He just needs to act." Zandros elaborated briefly with his hand skimming on the soft lines of her tiny waist. Lauren's brain was jostled as the tiny sparks created by Zandros simple touch becoming insistent and a commotion in her hormones whack her organized head. Her whole senses were suddenly burned with the tingling sensations his touch left on every trail. She leaned closer to his chest and a soft moan escapes her lips.

Lauren's felt Zandros body shivered when she kissed his chest.

"Moro, we are discussing Henrique," Zandros whispered gutturally, his throaty tone were too faint in her grasp, it sounded like a moan to her.

"Later," she grinned and push him on the couch and she straddled him, then she lay on top of him.

"Too bold, Mrs. Mailov," Zandros grinned wolfishly.

She grinned.

Just as their lips locked, Christine walks in.

"Hey brother and-" she stops and she covered her eyes with her hand, playfully, stifling her laughter. "Oopsies, sorry. You two should hang a sign says "don't disturb" on the doorknob," she said in displeasure.

"Well, how about you ring the bell or knock the door, missy!" Zandro's growled in frustrations.

"You gave me a key, my dear brother. What will I do with it, if I still have to knock the door?" she quipped rolling her eyes. I laughed and got off of Zandros. I walked to Chrissy's direction and gave her a squeezy hug before kissing her cheeks.

Zandros was mumbling incoherently and Chrissy just laughed it off.

"I'll go to the kitchen. You fix yourself brother. You look older now," she teased making Zandros groaned in annoyance.

I chuckled and settled back closer to him. I kissed him on the lips briefly before leaning on her chest while waiting for Chrissy to come back.

"How about I will bring, Anthony?" Anthony was a new photographer who replaced Isaac.

"NO!" Zandros growled in disapproval. I tilted up my head and look at him through my lashes. His beautiful forest green eyes were filled with jealousy and disapproval.

Anthony had been hitting on her before he found out she was married with Zandros. He was so sorry after, but Zandros never trust the man. He always thought he's a competition. He had begged her to fire him but he was really good at his job and she knew they had a hard time finding an efficient replacement.

"Fine." she chuckled.

Zandros picked up his phone and started tapping.

"What are you doing?" she asked nonchalantly.

"Calling Henrique myself," he said haughtily, with his other arm wrap around her waist.

Chrissy came back with her white wine and sat across us. Zandros talk on the phone while she talks to Chrissy regarding her vacation here in Greece. She is going back to Mexico soon to be with her husband. She is four months pregnant right now and she doesn't understand why she is drinking wine.

"Did your doctor allowed you to drink wine?" She couldn't contain her curiosity.

Christine smiled with confidence. "Maximum of two glasses in a week," she smiled.

Shortly, she heard her son Alexandrous, crying, in the baby monitor sitting on the coffee table.

Zandros hung up the phone.

"I'll go check my baby," she said to Chrissy and was about to rise, but Zandros stops her.

"I'll go get my boy, moro mou. Stay here with Chrissy," Zandros stood up and kissed her on the lips quickly before heading to the nursery room.

"God, he was a very changed man!" Chrissy shook her head still surprised with her brother's total change.

"He is still the cocky man, Chrissy," Lauren replied as she watches her husband's yummy back.

Their love grows each day, and especially when Alexandrous came.

STAVROS WAS talking to Nicolas on the phone regarding the time for the party. The surprise party should start at six, but since it was a surprise party for Nicolas, he has to come later, when all their friends arrived.

Demetrio and his wife, Yvonne, Zandros and Lauren with their friend and model, Henrique. Rafael and Tatiana, Nicolas' granddad and grandma, and his parents and two sisters. And, Adriana De Luca. The girl who had whipped his friend's heart.

"Please come at seven sharp, Nick."

"Sure. Can I bring a date?" he asked after.

"Sure," Stavros reluctantly replied. He knew he hated being left out. Sometimes, they really intentionally do this gathering to piss him and realized he needs to settle down soon.

He's thirty tomorrow.

He married Alessandra before he turned twenty-nine. Zandros followed so as Rafael just a few months gap and then Demetrio. Everybody had their child now. And, still he's still the same the cold heartless Nicolas. Still the man-whore Nicolas.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow," he ended the call when he saw Alessandra, holding Alexander and he's squirming out of her hold.

"Please play with him for a bit since we had to finish the decoration in the hall," she said looking exhausted. His poor wife.

"Can you let them do it and you take a rest, babe?" his eyebrow wriggled suggestively. He was thinking something else. As he looks at his son, he knew he needed his early morning nap soon, and the idea of having his wife all by himself excites him greatly. As time passes by, his love for her grows and their sex, it's always mind-blowing.

"Honey, I'd love to, but they don't know what are they doing," Alessandra smiled. She knew what her husband wants and her body instantly burned, just the thought of being ravished with her handsome husband.

"I paid them to do their job, not my wife doing their job!" he groaned in displeasure. His playful eyes turned into an exasperated scowl.

"Fine. Let's go to our room," she agreed and he grinned. Alessandra was wondering why their son was too quiet with his head resting on his father's shoulder. When she look at him, he's asleep.

"How the hell did you do that?" she asked with scrunched eyebrows.

"What?" Stavros asked in confusion.

"I tried to put him to sleep in my arms, but he wasn't giving in," she complained.

Stavros chuckled.

"He must have missed me," he grinned haughtily.

Alessandra shook her head in disbelief.

"I'll put Alex in his room and I'll see you shortly. Time is ticking, let's go.." Stavros grinned mischievously as he kissed her briefly before heading to their son's room which wasn't farther to theirs.

She suddenly felt excited as she paced down to their room, waiting for her husband.

AFTER A LONG torturing flight to JFK, finally, they landed safely and now sitting comfortably in one of Demetrio's Bently limo. It is a service car from their company to pick up highly valued customers.

The limo is fully equipped with a full bar with lighting, L-shaped black leather seat, and pillows, moon roofs, TV/DVD with remote, AM/FM CD player surround sound and a premium sound system.

"Wine?" Demetrio asked as he grabs a wine and a glass.

"Sure," she replied as she tried not to fall asleep, or she won't sleep tonight. As expected, she slept the whole trip.

Demetrio gave her a glass of wine after giving one to Yvonne.

The two was undeniably in love with their eyes shining with joy. She knew she wanted what they shared, but she doesn't think she would ever find it unless her heart learns to ditch the man who unknowingly engraved his name on it.

She tentatively sipped her wine and trained her eyes out the window trying to ignore the two sweet lovey-dovey.

"Tomorrow, you and Yvonne will go pick a dress for Stavros son's birthday party. I will be meeting my colleagues and will come and pick you up after, and we could all have a lunch together," Demi explained which made her snaps her head back in his direction.

"Please come with me Addy, you need a dress, too, unless you brought one?" Yvonne asked with her eyes smiling widely.

She can't turn her down and with her full-blown smile, she doesn't have the heart to break it. She became her closest friend after Francine and Ashley.

"Sure. Thanks."

She actually has dressed in her luggage, from all this branded company she'd worked with before, but, she knew she needed a new one. She has worn them all before.

"Great!" Yvonne chirped and her smile broadened. Demi smiled and thank her.

She remembers to ask Demi about her room. She doesn't want to share rooms with them. For sure, he will stay at the penthouse.

"Can I get my own room?" she asked them.

"Sure," Yvonne replied. Demi nodded in agreement. "We will stay in the penthouse on the top floor. You can take a room next to our floor. You're scared of height?" he asked after explaining.

"No," she replied momentarily.

"Then, you can take one of the rooms at 115 floors," he smiled.

"One-hundred fifteen floor?" Her eyes bulged. She was thinking probably seventy to eighty floors. Of course, most of their hotels are tall.

"Yes," he chuckled. "One of our tallest hotels is in New York."

She unconsciously nodded her head and chugged the whole content of her wine.

NICOLAS JUST watch Phoebe as she crawled into the bedroom as soon as they arrived in New York. Phoebe was his new mistress he met in Hawaii. She's an aspiring model and actress, who was working with victoria secret and they are doing their shoot in one of their resorts in Honolulu, Hawaii.

They hit right away, as soon as their eyes met.

It was just one of those times when Nicolas thought of Adriana and he needs a release, then there she was, ready to fill the job.

The thought of her filled his head again. How many times he was itching to call her, but he always dismisses the idea.

Nicolas walked out the room and into the living room.

He was fiddling with his phone as he tried to imagine her. He needs to get away since her presence always stirred the memories back he tried to bury.

She always goes to work with her tight pencil cut that showed her perfect sculpted body. Most of the man in their building can't keep their eyes off her and it pisses him off. He had to control his urge to fire any of them since it was too obvious, instead, he traveled often, barely staying in Greece.

Fuck!

Nicolas thought of calling her. On impulse, his finger involuntarily tapped on his phone and not long, the phone rang once and it connected quickly. He forgot it was Sunday and she's not working supposedly.

"Hello, Addy speaking." Her cheerful sexy voice made his gut twisted into knots. He felt like her hot breaths just brushes to his skin and it made him shivered down his spine.

He gulped audibly and shook the thoughts off, forcing his lustfully clogged brain to think. "I need you to send me the files for the annual revenue for the Paradise-haven in Indonesia," he ordered absentmindedly before he realized she already did three days ago.

"I already did, Nicolas!" she replied tersely. He could imagine her face distorted with her well-defined eyebrows almost hitting her hairline.

"Mr. Petropoulis to you, Ms. De Luca," he spat unable to think properly. He could literally taste the bitterness in her voice. She may not utter a word, but he knew deep down his soul she hated him, with passion. And that thought made his heart bleed senselessly.

"I'm sorry. Yes, Mr. Peropoulis! I sent it three days ago. And, I hope you realized that today is Sunday, so basically it's my off and I'm on a date. I'll send-" he heard a voice in the background and her last words suddenly hit his slow brain and unconsciously, he growled, cutting her off.

"Where are you?" he asked calmly, gripping his phone tightly, his knuckles already turn white.

Memories of her in the bar with another man before flashed back to his memory. His temper flared back and his possessiveness kicked in like a wildfire.

"Why do you care? Look, Mr. Petro-"

"WHERE ARE YOU ADRIANA?" His voice rose an octave, deep and desperate.

"Ms. De Luca to you, Mr. Petropoulis!" she snapped, unfazed. He groaned inwardly in frustrations.

"Don't give me that sassy retaliation. Where are you?" He grumbled exasperatedly. His eyebrows were tightly pressed, the frown lines gradually deepened into a vexed scowl.

"In New York," she replied sheepishly. Sensing her tone, she must be biting her bottom lip. She always does that when she sounds sheepish.

"NEW YORK?" His voice sounding like a thunder.

He wondered what is she doing in New York. And who's the guy's voice in the background?

"Where are you exactly?" He demanded sternly and found his legs carrying him out of the door, forgetting he has Phoebe sleeping in his bed.

"Let's go, honey!" a guy from the background, barely audible, but the message sent clear to his perked ears.

"Yes," it sounding like a soft growl.

"FUCK!" he hissed.

"ADRIANA!" He called out when he heard nothing on the other line.

"Yes, at the Time Warmer Centre," she replied before hanging up.

He cursed helplessly as he strode to the small rectangular metal box and hit the garage button. Not long, his Spider Ferrari came into view. As soon as the sleek car sensed the key, it unlocks automatically.

AS SOON as Addy hang up the phone, her daggering stare darted to Demi while Yvonne was laughing her ass off, too amused.

"Why did you do that?" she asked incredulously. Her eyebrows scrunched tight and her lips pursed in irritation.

"What?" Demi feigned innocence as he looks at Yvonne and the two stared at each other that only both of them knows and it starting to annoy her.

"You called me, honey!" she snapped. She doesn't understand what's so fussy about it, but she found herself whining over a little thing.

Maybe because you don't want to give Nicolas a bad idea? Her inner self-mocked.

"Oh, that. I don't know," he shrugged as he laced his hand with Yvonne's hand. Then, they walk ahead of her. She sighed and just trailed behind them, still she couldn't believe Nicolas just called her.

A ghost of a triumphant smile broke out on the corner of her lips. Her brain already works like a clock. Knowing that Nicolas were too eager to know where she is, and the way he spoke to her, she knew too well, that bastard has a thing for her and, he's too hypocrite to acknowledge it.

Suits him well. She thought.

"I'm hungry, can we eat now guys?" Yvonne complained after several stores. They actually found the dresses they decided to wear and shoes.

And with that, she heard her belly growled when the food reaches her brain.

"I am too," she piped in.

"Okay, let's go to the third floor. At the landmarc," Demi smiled and they agreed.

Just when they reach the landmarc, a brooding face of Nicolas was waiting for them. Addy was surprised to see Nicolas. Her eyes automatically darted to Demi's face who looks so ecstatic upon seeing him. He had this playful grin pasted on his lips.

Addy knew he texted his friend. He cursed him inwardly.

Nicolas' eyes search for hers and for a second their eyes lock.

He walked in their direction and they both hug and Demi, then Yvonne before closing their gap. Without a word, he kissed her cheeks. She felt her blood rushing to her heart from that unexpected kiss and pumping furiously in her heart. She slammed back down the flush slowly creeping over her cheek.

That was the first kiss she got after five years.

Even when he came to drag her out of that bar away from Ashley and Lauren, after dropping her off, he left without a word.

She was still rooted to the ground. The conversation of Demi and the host was too blur. Her senses are now foggy. Their close proximity is unsettling. The warmth of his body so close to hers, reminded her of their memories together, and in an instant, her face hardened and she shut off her emotions.

"Let's go," suddenly, the ice that froze her melted when she felt Nicolas' hand snake around her waist. She found herself obeying him like a puppet, still stunned. "You didn't tell me you're with Demetrio," he whispered casually with a tinge of accusation.

She just stared at his light sea-green eyes that sometimes it looks gray, especially when he's angry. Those eyes who captured her heart and made her swoon. She always finds herself mesmerized, completely forgetting what he did to her five years ago.

How she missed to stare at him.

She heard the chair being dragged, and she realized, they reach their table over the window glass, overlooking the busy Manhattan. He pulled a chair for her before he took the chair beside her.

They ordered their food and wine, then they converse and Demi casually. "I didn't know Addy came with you guys," he started and he looks at me with his signature cold impassive eyes.

"Yvonne wants her company and it's nice for her to have a little vacation after you ditch her alone in that cold room," Demi sarcastically retorted, with his signature grin. Nicolas just glared at Demi.

Demi just chuckled and brushes it off. Yvonne glared at Demi too, but he just smiled at her.

"So are you coming to Stavros son's, party?" Demi asked as they waited for their food.

"Yes. That's why I flew here. We just arrived this morning," he responded too quickly and she realized he said, "we".

Demi's forehead furrowed.

"We?" Demi spilled her thoughts.

"Yes," Nicolas replied drily. Judging how he looks awkward and suddenly tense, and especially when he looks at he, she knew what it meant.

Addy kept her poker face as she and Yvonne listened to them.

"Who's with you?" Yvonne smiled, with her eyes filled with amusement shifting her gaze to her and Nicolas.

"Phoebe Martin," he replied warily. "How's the flight here?" he asked, attempting to drop the topic.

Demi responded getting the hint. "It was smooth."

"I didn't know you like shopping now?" Nicolas teased Demi as he picks up his wine the waiter served him.

"Do I have a choice?" Demi replied cocking his eyebrow. Nicolas shot him a look that only him and Demi knew.

Demi just chuckled.

"You'll never know," he mumbled barely audible as he sips his wine.

Addy was sipping her wine as she watches everyone interacting. Their close proximity and Nicolas is unsettling her. Suddenly, she felt her phone vibrating.

She excused herself and took the call away from their hearing circumference. She connected the call. She could feel Nicolas' eyes boring holes into her back. She kept her eyes ahead of her, kicking the urge to look behind her.

She stops at one corner.

"Hello,"

"Addy, it's mamma."

"Yes, mamma, what's wrong?" Her eyebrows furrowed, with her heart beat slowly rising. She forgets that she was using her phone outside its local area and would surely cost much.

"Nicolai is still crying, he misses you."

Her heart clenched when Nicolai's damped face flashed through her head. He became her inspiration after long years of mending her broken heart.

"Please give the phone to him, mamma," she said.

"Hold on, figlia!"

She patiently waited. Shortly, she heard her son's throaty voice. Her heart swelled with happiness and longings for his hugs and kisses.

"Hi honey, mamma misses you so much!" she said gulping, trying to sound happy. She suddenly wanted to go home at the moment.

"I missed you too, mamma!" he replied with hiccups and it hurt her all the more. "When are you going home?" he sniffed. She froze when the question sunk in her head. She doesn't have an exact answer.

Again, the thought of Nicolas knowing his existence terrified her. She doesn't want Nicolas to know about him.

"Soon honey, and I'll come and get you!" she replied, not knowing what she'll say to comfort him.

"I love you, mamma," he replied happily.

"I love you so much, Nicolai!" she replied back as she chuckled softly. His happiness is so contagious. She hung up the phone when she heard the dial tone. She wipes the tears that escape her eyes.

"Who is Nicolai?" Nicolas furious tone startled her. She quickly turned to face him and his scorching green eyes were staring at her like a prey, with his hand's clenching.

She cursed inwardly.

"He's ... " all of a sudden, she fumbled for words as she watches his eyes twitch, all the while gritting his teeth.

"WHO IS HE, ADRIANA?" he growled gruffly.
