Chapter 1: The Upcoming Reunion
A/N: Here's Jessie Pavelka.
Damn hot!
I thought he could be Nicolas Petropoulis.
|THIS IS IN THIRD PERSON POV|
~~~~~~~
Let's go
All that I remember is that you had me at hello
I knew right when I met her that I wouldn't take it slow
The more we heard the music, the more we got in synch
The more I kept you laughing, the less I stopped to think
The last thing I remember, you said this place is beat
It must have gotten crazy 'cause I can't recall a thing
Last night
(last night)
Can't remember?
(Remember)
What happened?
(What happened?)
NICOLAS AND his friends are on the deck in his en-suite room isolated from all the hotels and luxurious cottages, in one of their famous luxurious beach resorts. He and his friends; Zandros, Stavros, and Demetrio -his partner, were watching the sunsets as they leisurely sipped their beers and, chatted mostly nonsense stuff. Just relaxing, no business topics, just pleasure.
"Just accept the fact that your charms are long gone, Stav," Demetrio chuckled as he swigged his beer.
"Zip it, Demetrio! I know she had declined your invitation, too." Stavros retorted haughtily with his smug face. Demetrio's face turned beet red, caught red-handed. He swigged his beer and everyone laugh, including Nicolas.
"Well, Nicolas is the last spawn. Let's see if he can break the shield that woman establish around her." Zandros laughed and looks like he was rejected too.
Adriana De Luca. That girl who caught his friend's attention and he knew, that girl piques his interest.
"I'll bet five thousand, she'll reject him either," Demetrio bets and Stavros agreed on.
"I'll go with a yes." Zandros made a bet. And, he felt challenge plus the fact that he was intrigued by her.
Didn't he know, he already caught her interest the moment her eyes laid on her? So the fake courting begins, that ended them both in his ensuite room, after three days of touring her around their resorts, and cruising the island.
After a couple hours cruising, the sun sets and he invited her to his private cottage, for dinner, thinking to end the fake courting since he was declared a winner.
"Thanks for the dinner," she smiled shyly as she stood up. He felt alarmed. For some reason, he doesn't want her to go.
"You can stay for a little bit, to settle the food in our stomach." He blurted out absentmindedly and she agreed.
They ended up in the living room watching a show, but his whole being was glued to her, drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Her closeness to him brought havoc to his peaceful and controlled system.
She was wearing a green summer dress and she looks radiant with her buttery skin, with her endless slender smooth and buttery legs brushing against his. And, it didn't help at all. It only made his testosterone erupted all over the place, clogging his systematic brain.
"Addy," he murmured huskily.
"Hmm ..." She responded lazily, and to him, it sounded like a soft moan. Sweet and sexy, arousing.
When she stared at him with those shimmering sapphires eyes, he knew she felt it, too.
In a blur, their limbs are pressing against each other with their lips locked.
That brief kiss he was thinking to get, ended up in the bed.
And, he so surprised, he was her first. The small patches of blood say it all.
Nicolas was so pleased that he was the very first man in her life.
After their lovemaking, she rolled on top of Nicolas and hovered over him with those lovesick eyes and he knew he's in trouble. Her eyes were shining with happiness and a wave of remorse suddenly whacked him.
"I love you, Nicolas. I know we just met a few days ago, but I'm sure that I do," Addy uttered almost close to tears. That deep emotion radiated from her and flooded inside Nicolas room. And he felt suffocated. He suddenly felt gasping of air.
Nicolas woke up drench with sweat and a raging hard-on. Those were one of the frequent dreams that haunted him. The girl he had dated for a few days and bedded. He won the bet with his friends, and he was shocked when she admitted her feelings for him, that he got scared and left without a word.
Five years ago. It all started and until now, it still haunts him.
Probably the reason why he was dubbed as the ill-mannered, barbaric billionaire.
For five years, he's been living with remorse.
He still remembers the day they met.
Stavros celebrated his 26th birthday at one of the well-known Pallos-Petropoulis beach resorts on an island in Greece, where mostly jet-setters and high socialite comes to have a vacation.
And as usual, the bar was filled, flooded with hungry hormones swarming like bees to get the attention of any of the elusive billionaires of Athens.
Nicolas were the serious one among them. Stavros and Demetrio as the sweet talker and Zandros a bit off to being sweet, but Nicolas?
No.
When she entered the room, he witnessed how his friends compete for her attention. Those times where a woman was still a competition for them.
She has the most strikingly captivating sapphire eyes he'd ever seen. She looks taller than any girl he had ever met and too stunning to his eyes, with sexy curves.
He didn't expect she had her eyes set on him, even though he wasn't really mingling to anyone except his Whiskey, as he was still bothered with the new discoveries with his mom. The thought of his mom's indiscreet relationship with her VP is still shocked him.
Nicolas then found out that Addy doesn't belong to their circle. Her dad was the butler of her best friend Francine.
She was here with her friends in their beach resorts for a week vacation here in Greece.
His eyes discreetly following her. She sure knows how to flirt with men and he thought she's just one of those bimbos whose looking for a sex to satisfy their libidos.
She was very outspoken and sweet. He thinks she's too flirty.
But, he knew that she's innocent. And, these questions stuck in his head until now.
Why did she surrender him her virginity? She only met him for a few days. He's still considered as a stranger.
Who fell in love in just three days? Those were the thoughts that were bothering Nicolas. Is she just like anyone? Pretending to be innocent?
Nicolas got up and decided to have a cold shower after waking up wet and feeling burned. Even just the thought of Addy and their lovemaking still made him shiver with electrifying desire.
It had been five years and it's still fresh in his mind. Those moments that always makes him wake up in the middle of the night with his bratwurst fully hard-on.
In five years, it became a routine.
For five years, he tried to forget her and tried to bury those memories that always haunts him. But, damn!
Karma is indeed a bitch. For three years, her face was all over the internet. She was the internet sensations, especially among men, becoming harder to completely bury those memories with her.
She's on every billboard, a famous high-paid supermodel, and a commercial advertiser.
Until now, it still haunts him, taunting him.
Those billboards that sometimes made him lost his mind when he stares at her. She was stunning. A goddess' reincarnation. Her gorgeous smile was like mocking him. It felt like she was smiling at him sarcastically, sending him this words, this-is-the-woman-you-left.
And now, she's working with him. He had to leave Greece often trying to avoid her. He knew why she's here. He's not stupid not to know her plan.
How long will he avoid her? He's been lucky for almost a year, he had eschewed her subtly.
He wasn't thinking when he hired her. He was impulsive though he has all the chance to fire her, but he couldn't.
He thought he could, at least, lessen the guilt he was carrying all those years, but, as the days goes by and knowing she's within reach, it was hard for Nicolas to forget all the memories they shared. It was like the water waves, it kept coming back.
Nicolas headed to the washroom, trying to forget about Adriana.
MEANWHILE, Adriana was busy cleaning her apartment after talking to her mother who was in Italy. It's almost been a year since she works with Nicolas and he's been always away and all she does is working alone and they only talk through email, and barely on the phone. Her plan to make him fall hard to her is now slowly crumbling.
She won't give up. The scar he left in her heart is way too big to just let it go. She had done the first step. She had waited for this for so long.
She had watched him from far away. Thanks to internet and magazines, she knew what's going on about him. She thought he was different from them when she first met him in that bar. He was alone and drowning himself with whiskey.
His friends tried to hit on her but she was interested in him. He seems like the opposite of them, but boy, she was wrong.
She knew, his friends only want one thing from her, sex. And she thought, Nicolas was just like them. Worse than his friend, in her opinion.
The love he felt for him died the moment she found out he's gone. She left the resort before their last day, with her heart broken into pieces.
She was glad, her friend, Francine didn't press her about leaving so soon.
Adriana shook off the thoughts and bitterness she felts and finished cleaning.
After hours of cleaning, finally, she's sitting on her small couch, in her decent size apartment.
It was almost sun sets and this time, it always reminds her of their memories and Nicolas. She was blinded on how much thoughtful and caring he was the whole time they were together. She saw his eyes sparks and he laughs most of the time. He was very carefree and boyishly handsome.
It's all a lie.
After he got what he wants, he left. And from then on, she was scarred for life. She thought man are all the same. And, she treated them like a garbage. She's only here for one reason, to avenge her broken heart, her life.
Adriana wipes the tears that slowly making its way down her cheeks.
Damn this tears. She hissed under her breath. She thought they were long gone and drained.
Adriana rose up to her feet, thinking to have some wine when her phone rang.
She sat back on the couch and snatch her phone sitting on her round cinnamon wooden coffee table.
"Adriana, speaking" she started.
"Hey Addy, it's Demetrio!" Adriana rolled her eyes.
What does this prick need again? Each time he had troubles with Yvonne, he's calling her for her suggestions or any idea, but usually he does the other way around.
The ruthless ways.
She almost burst into a laughter when she met them, the second time around. Demetrio didn't remember her, but of course, Nicolas was utterly surprised.
"Addy, you're there?" Demetrio's snappy tone interrupted her out of her trance.
"Yes. What do you want again?" she asked lazily as she tucked her free hand with her other hand.
"Hey, do I always call you because I need your hep?" he asked playing innocently. She rolled her eyes again. He was really annoying sometimes, she thought.
"What do you think?" she asked glaring at oblivion.
"Fine. But, this time, it's not," he proclaimed haughtily. He's still the cocky Demetrio. He is a bit better Demetrio now since he was married to Yvonne.
"So, what is it Mr. Pallos?" she asked, with rising interest.
"I need you to accompany me and Yvonne to New York. I have some business to attend and she needs company. Would you mind? Please .. Besides, Nicolas is out of town," he stated matter-of-factly. And, that bastard never told her where he is. Well, since she started he never tells her where is he heading or when he's going back. He really builds walls between them.
She involuntarily grits her teeth as the hatred resurface again.
"Addy?" Demetrio's worried tone woke her up from her awful thoughts.
"Yes. When is this?" she asked absentmindedly, as she bit her bottom lip to hold the tears again. She shook off the negative feelings and instilled in her head that she's not the vulnerable Adriana. She's tough and could control her emotion.
"We are leaving tomorrow morning. I'll send my driver to pick you up. I'll see you at the tarmac," he explained briefly with a cheerful tone. Too cheerful for her likings. Then, she heard Yvonne in the background.
"Alright," she replied acquiesced. Yvonne became her friend, too, because of Demetrio. "Please, say hi to Yvonne. For me," she added on.
"I will. Thanks, Addy!" he said earnestly. And she just brushes it off.
"Don't mention it," she responded nonchalantly. "See you, tomorrow." With that, she ended the call.
She tossed the phone on the couch as she stared at the television without listening. Her eyes bore holes into the depth of the screen.
When everything that they talked about with Demetrio had been processed down, and finally reach her slow mind, she scrambled out of her seat and ran to her room, frantic. She started rummaging through her stuff to pack up for tomorrow.
She stops to think. How long is she staying in New York?
"What am I thinking?" she mumbles to herself. "Dammit Addy! You need to concentrate and stop thinking of the past!" she chided herself like crazy.
She groaned in frustrations. She just decided to fill her big luggage with dresses, tops, and jeans, and with her personal stuff. She thought they won't stay there for a month, for sure. Yvonne would surely miss her twins.
AFTER THE call with Adriana, Demetrio called Zandros about their plan on setting up Adriana and Nicolas. It was late when he remembers who she was. She was the girl they all compete with to get her on a date, but Nicolas won. And, Nicolas left before the end of the week and from then on, he became workaholic.
Now, Demetrio understands why he's very temperamental. Everything is getting clear to him.
He dialed Zandros' number as he watched his wife playing with their twins. They are both lying in their bed as she sat on the edge facing them.
He smiled with his heart swelled with pride of his growing family. A warm feeling filled him.
"Hey," Zandros uttered in a drowsy tone.
"Sorry for interrupting your nap, Zandros," he apologized. He knows he's watching his son Alexandrous at night, and he naps at daytime. His poor friend.
"Make it quick, Demetrio!" he spat.
"Alright. About Nicolas 30th birthday. We will have a surprise party at Stavros estate in New York. I hope you already heard about it. I know you're busy with Alexandrous and Lauren, but you can take a break. I mean with Lauren. Bring her. Maybe theía Beatriz and theois Vladimir won't mind taking care of Alexandrous while you two are away." I cajoled sweetly.
"I'm sure mom will be happy to have them alone, for a while. I'll ask my wife if she's fine with it." Zandros replied lazily with a yawn.
I heard Lauren talking, but it was muffled.
"She's ecstatic," Zandros replied momentarily, after a short pause.
"Great!" Demetrio cheerfully exclaimed and ended the call. He stuffs his phone back in his pocket and walked closer to his wife at the edge of the bed and joined them.
"What did Adriana say?" His wife Yvonne asked as she stared into his eyes. That familiar feeling when his wife's eyes met his. His head turned mushy when she stared at him with her brown orbs filled with innocence and love.
"She agreed," Demetrio replied shortly. "Don't you think we need to put Luke and Victoria to their morning late nap?" He grinned mischievously. And as if the two could understand, they started crying. Demetrio involuntarily scrunched his eyes as he darted them to his twins, but of course, with love.
Yvonne rolled her eyes and she picks up Luke. He picks up Victoria and he couldn't contain but to kissed her chubby cheeks.
They are just turning three months old.
"Daddy is just kidding, sweetheart." He chuckled and kissed her cheeks, smooching her.
Yvonne smiled and all four of them walks down to the nursery room.
JUST AS Nicolas got all dressed and was about to hit the bar and drowned himself with booze, his phone vibrated.
He pulled it out from his pocket and connected the call.
"Petropoulis, speak!" he snapped not bothering to check the caller as he grabs his keys from the side table of his bed.
"Hey Nick, it's Stav." Stavros rich voice rang in his ears and he cracks a half-smile.
He was wondering if he's back to Greece.
"Hey, what's up?" he asked as he made his way down the stairs to the door.
"Alex is celebrating his first birthday. We will do it earlier since we have to fly to Madrid for his big birthday party, my in-laws had prepared for him," he explained.
"Is everyone coming?" he asked nonchalantly, but he knew they would come. Now, he felt left out. Everyone has their own family and happily married. Sometimes it's kind of overacting when they are becoming too possessive and too obsessive of their wives.
He was just worried for them on how long it will last for them to what they call it 'love'.
He scoffed mentally.
His friends had finally succumbed to the word love, whom they had despised before.
"Yes. They all agreed," Stavros' voice snapped him back to reality.
"Sure. I'll be there!" he replied in a nonchalant voice, shaking off the thoughts of being out of place because everyone has a partner.
He thought to bring a date so not to feel outcast. Nicolas grinned with the thought, and it was appealing.
IT'S ALL SET. She was awake early since she's not sure if when is Demetrio's driver comes. Stupid of her not to ask what time his driver comes.
Adriana just wore a comfy black legging and a dressy-kind-of-top, with the hem barely reach mid thigh and completed with a flat black doll shoe. With her favorite silver, Daniel Klein wrist watches, given by the Daniel Klein company when she works with them as an endorser.
Adriana had her coffee and already waiting on the couch, for what it felt like a lifetime.
And after like centuries, battling with her eyes not to fall asleep, the driver finally arrived.
Adriana went to bed late to make sure that she has everything she needs, but wakes up earlier than her alarm and she couldn't fall back asleep. Surely, she will be sleeping on the plane all the way to New York.
The driver who came to show up at her door took her luggage and she securely locks her door before heading to the awaiting black limo.
Adriana settled herself inside the limo, which she had been twice or three times with Yvonne when Yvonne wants company, or she is.
Not long, Adriana embarked on the plane and Demetrio and Yvonne were already there, sitting beside each other in the luxurious private plane owned by him.
"Hi," she greeted them both with a wide smile. Yvonne was blooming and looking beautiful while Demetrio always looking as handsome as ever.
"I'm glad you can join us." Yvonne chirped ecstatically as she gave me a hugged.
"Thanks for inviting me. This could be a nice break!" she uttered gratefully and smiled back. Demi hugged her briefly and motioned her to take the seat opposite them.
Not long, the captain announces their oncoming take off, as she felt the plane slowly taxiing down the runway.
New York has been her third home after London when she was still enjoying modeling.
Adriana heaved a heavy sigh as she closed her eyes, not wanting to see how sweet the two across her.
Demetrio and Yvonne look at each other with deep meaning and only the two knew what lies within the depth of their eyes.
