Seokjin's POV:
I woke up in a familiar looking place, staring at a stranger who reminded me a lot of Namjoon, only he looked much older.
The middle-aged man appeared to be in his fifties. "What's your name?" The man asked me for my name. I kept on staring at him, remembering the photo Namjoon had showed
me of his late father.
The resemblance between that man and the one I'm currently being faced with are identical. This man has to be Namjoon's father.
"I'm Kim Seokjin... Are you, by any chance, Kim Jihoon?" He nodded, ending with my suspicions. I looked up at him, rubbing my head.
"Where am I?" I started to look around me, searching for an answer as to where I was, but saw nothing but a blank puff of clouds surrounding me everywhere, and I felt a cool breeze float around my body, almost as if the clouds were caressing my body.
"Where do you think you are, Seokjin?" He asked me. I had somewhat of an idea of where
I was, but I just didn't want to think about it. Let alone, admit it.
I couldn't bear to accept this reality yet, it feels too unreal... But I have to find out.
"Am I in Heaven?" My eyes glisten as the breeze brushed through my skin, sending chills throughout my body when Jihoon nodded in confirmation.
I knew then exactly where I was. My head was spinning, all I could see was his tall silhouette standing in front of me, smiling.
"He smiles just like Namjoon..."
"I do, don't I?" I jumped in shock.
"You heard me?" He began to laugh, walking towards me. His clothing was very elegant, but an item of clothing in particular caught my eye: A gold tie with black lines.
"Of course. Even your most secretive thoughts become visible up here. I can hear everything you're thinking of, Seokjin." The man's voice sounded so happy, it made Jin feel warm and welcomed.
"And right now, you have far too much on your mind. Care to tell me a few things? I can help answer some of your questions, if they have anything to do with how you got here."
He's so polite. Like father, like son. Now I know why Namjoon is so sweet all the time.
"I have two important things to ask you, sir... If you're willing to answer them, I can tell you what they are. Though, I really wouldn't want to bother you-" My face heated up as I felt him grab my hands.
His hands felt just like Namjoon's. They were soft, and caring.
"Don't hesitate to ask me anything, son." The word "son" coming from him made my heart jitter inside, making me feel nervous. But I felt something else... Nostalgia?
Why do I feel so nostalgic... Almost as if I want to... Hug him?
"I'm sorry..."
"Come here, I understand." When he held me in his embrace, I crumbled apart in his arms, and started to cry. His presence reminded me of my father.
I haven't seen my parents since the day I carelessly moved out of the house and started living with Hyunseok. I miss my dad the most. He was always so encouraging.
So kind.
So funny...
It must be so hard for Namjoon to have endured the pain of losing his father.
"And it was. I used to watch over my son day and night, just hearing his cries, as he celebrated his success with his mother, wishing I was there by his side. He hides so much behind that smile, Seokjin." Jihoon caressed my hair, comforting me the way Namjoon used to.
His touch felt the same. Everything about him made me think of Namjoon, and right now, the thought not seeing him any longer was making me feel upset.
"I have... One last question." The man looked at me, waiting for me to answer.
"What may that be, Seokjin." I braced myself to accept whatever reality I had to face when asking him this, so I took a deep breath in and parted my lips once more.
My body felt like I was drowning from within. It was filled with tears of frustration and sadness.
"How did I die?"
~4 hours ago~
"Please! Please, notify us as soon as possible!" Namjoon and Hyunseok nervously spoke to the paramedics as they rushed Seokjin into the emergency room.
Once there, the doctors took an X-Ray of his cranium, and found out that the man had a skull fracture that was causing the blood to spill out of his head, putting his life in danger
as a fracture that big could lead to his death in a matter of seconds.
They placed him on a hospital bed to begin saving his life with a risky surgery to repair the enormous fracture he had on his skull. He lay sedated on the operating table, while a doctor instructed the nurse to hand him the necessary supplies he needed.
An hour went by and half of the disposal bin was piled up with gauze pads and rags dripping with Seokjin's blood. His head was split wide open as the surgeon attempted to repair the fractures, piece by piece.
"We have to hurry, this man is losing too much blood!"
"Doctor, his heart rate is accelerating. His lips are turning blue and his hands are cold to the touch." The nurses began to panic, placing a blanket to heat up Seokjin's body.
Beads of sweat formed around the surgeon's forehead as he carefully repaired the fractured skull, concerned about Seokjin's current state.
"Why is that... Happening? His body feels shaky."
"He's shivering from the coldness." The nurse replied, keeping Seokjin covered up.
"No... That's not supposed to be happening. He's shaking from something else. That's not normal. He looks too pale." Now that the surgeon was worried, the nurses panicked even more, touching Seokjin's hands.
"How long has he been covered?" The surgeon quickly ran a thermometer across Seokjin's forehead, checking his temperature.
It was bellow average.
"A while now. This is not good." The nurse noticed how fast Seokjin's pulse was getting.
As they stood there paralyzed, checking to see what the problem was with Seokjin, a loud beeping alarmed all of the people within the operating room.
Seokjin's heart monitor was started to beep loudly, as an abnormal reading appeared. The lines slowly started to decrease, becoming a single, deadly line. Signalling that his heart had stopped.
Seokjin was dying.
"HURRY! Hurry, bring me the defibrillators, now!"
The doctor grabbed a pair of defibrillators and rubbed them together, placing them against Seokjin's chest.
He let go once, and nothing. The monitor was still blank, with nothing but that single line and the loud beep that echoed throughout the entire operating room.
"Again!" He pressed the defibrillators against the man's chest once more, and let go after three seconds, in hopes of hearing his heart beating again.
But nothing...
No more than a single line remained. A line that meant it was over.
"No... This can't be..." The doctor held his head, staring at Seokjin. He then looked over at the nurses, shaking his head at them.
It was true. Seokjin had died, right then and there.
~~~
Seconds later, the doctor walked out of the room with his surgeon hat off. Blood was slightly staining his clothes, and the look in his eyes signalled nothing but trouble for Namjoon, who had stayed in the waiting room.
"Doctor, how did the surgery go?"
....
