Brick-by-brick, she had created her empire, smothering down old woes where her heart couldn't follow. But in a matter of seconds, a deliberate clash of eyes across a church as wedding bells rang, everything came tumbling down.

Helen Godfrey had always been in control. She grieved then got the job done, saved her tears for behind closed doors. But wherever Tommy Shelby was concerned, she was entirely defenceless ― a puppet on a string, a body to keep him warm, a reliable heart to use when his wife died.

And maybe she was okay with that.

Maybe she never stopped loving him, not really.

Maybe she got what was coming to her.
