Chapter 23 - Three's a crowd
She needed freedom. She needs the wind blowing in her hair. the sun shining down on her. the velvety sound of her motorbike beneath her. her thighs squeezing tightly, her hands gripping the handles, keeping the throttle open. After Tyler had dropped her off, she didn't hesitate to jump on the machine. The one with the high-performance engine. She had already sped past her partner before he even got to the bridge to Crown City. He made no move to catch up. This was their first weekend off in what felt like months. No one has to guess where she is going.
Her knee is on the gravel, helping to kick more dust up as she drifts to a stop in the scrapyard. The bots and humans coughing around her, fanning the dust away.
"Sorry." She says with guiltiness written on her face as she takes off her helmet.
"Welcome home, Clarissa." Denny acknowledges after his coughing fit has subsided.
"It's good to be home, even if its just or a weekend." She replies.
Denny pulls her into a quick hug after she gets off her bike.
"So where is Sideswipe?" She asks, looking around. All bots accounted for accept for two.
"Sunstreaker and him are on patrol, they should be back soon." Bee answers.
"Does he know your back?" Strongarm asks, kneeling down in front of her. But before Clarissa can answer, two red and yellow Lamborghini's come speeding in.
Now it was Clarissa's time to cough.
"Sir, do we really need two Sideswipes." Strongarm complains as she dusts herself off.
The two transform laughing, both transforming with style. The yellow one made his more of a show. Adding poise and lands with a smirk on his handsome face. He looks ten time better than when she first saw him in the prison pod. The scratches and dents have all been buffed out. A new coat of paint gleams in the sunlight. Along with what must be a fresh coat of wax. He's gorgeous. It takes a moment for Clarissa to realize she's staring, only when a low rumble comes from deep within Sideswipes engine.
Her mouth snaps shut, and her cheeks turn a cherry red, "Hey Sides, so this is your twin I take it?"
She rubs the back of her neck, not looking the red twin in the eye. Two hands grab her, making her let out a squeak.
"Sideswipe!" She giggles as he peppers her with kisses.
"I missed you." He whispers to her.
"I missed you too." Her forehead leaning against his. He pulls her away and gazes down at her for a moment before turning to his twin.
"Clarissa, meet Sunstreaker, my brother. We are split spark twins." The smile that had been on Sunstreaker's face earlier is wiped clean. Now an unapproving frown lays upon his lips.
"I see your fraternal twins, but if your split spark wouldn't you be identical?" She wonders looking back and forth between them. Sunstreaker looks at his twin in confusion. Fixit is the one who speaks up.
"Your thinking of human twins, as in when one embryo splits in two making monozygotic twins and two separate embryos fertilized by their own spe spe sperm cell, creating dizygotic twins."
Silence greets him when he finishes, even from the humans.
"Identical is one female egg splitting into two and fraternal is two separate eggs."
Clarissa and Denny can't help but chuckle at the bots still confused faces.
"It's part of when a human female gets sparked to have a spark spark sparkling."
Clarissa fell back in a fit of giggles in Sideswipes palm. "Fixit (laughter) Fixit just stop, I (more laughter) don't think they need to know anymore details." She grabs her chest, trying to stop laughing.
Out of the corner of her eye, she can't help but notice Sunstreaker rolling his optics at her and crossing his arms.
"Do I want an explanation?" Sideswipe questions to her quietly.
"No, I mean I can explain it further, but I don't think you need it. Nothing that important." She says, the laughter settling aside.
"That's okay. Sounds gross." He shivers in disgust.
"Well it is something that can happen if we don't use protection." He retracts her head, looking wide-eye at her. "A baby or sparkling as you call it. I'm not sure if I can get pregnant anyway. I don't know how it works with interspecies sex."
"Let's not find out." He says quickly, shaking his head.
"We do not need to know about your interface life." Strongarm snaps.
"Agreed." Grunts Sunstreaker.
"Yes, there are children here." Denny notes, keeping his hands covering Russel's ears.
Sideswipe turns to his brother in disbelief. Sunstreaker gave him back the look of fake bewilderment. They continue for a few more moments, as if secretly talking to each other through telepathy.
"Sunstreaker and I are going to go hang out with Clarissa. Want to go back to your place, babe?" Sideswipe sets her back down on the ground.
"Sure, I need to feed the horses anyway." She grabs her helmet and slides her leg over the seat. "See you guys later." She calls over the roar of her engine starting up.
"Make sure you stop and say bye before you leave again." Denny yells to her.
"Okay!" She shouts with a thumbs up.
"Race ya!" She shouts to the twins quickly already driving away, kicking up dust behind her.
"Hey no fair!" Sideswipe whines, transforming and speeding after her. Sunstreaker not to far behind. The others can't help but laugh, watching the three race off.
Sunstreaker strolls behind the children up front. The two keep trying to get ahead. So far Clarissa is staying in the lead. He isn't sure how he feels about the human femme who stole his brothers spark. After talking to his twin on how he ended up in the pod, Sides would only talk about her. She is beautiful, for a human, but he may only feel that way because of his brothers side of the bond. His only hope is that this isn't permanent. His bro is only going through a weird phase. Now that he is here on Earth, maybe Sideswipe will get over her. Sunstreaker just needs to show Sides that he is here to stay. That he won't ever be lonely again. It may take a cycle or two, but Sideswipe will soon forget about the human femme.
"She pulls me in enough to keep me guessing, And maybe I should stop and start confessing, confessing, Yeah, Oh I've been shaking, I love it when you go crazy, You take all my inhibitions, Baby, there's nothing holding me back, You take me places that tear up my reputation, manipulate my decisions, Baby, there's nothing holding me back" The song blares from the stable speakers as Clarissa and Sideswipe brought the horses in for dinner. As Clarissa closed the last stall, Sideswipe grabs her hand and starts to dance with her, singing along with the words to her. "Cause if we lost out minds and we took it way to far, I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright, If you were by my side and we stumbled in the dark, I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright." She giggles as he sang to her, making her twirl under the incandescent bulbs lighting up the stable.
Sunstreaker stands off to the side, his holoform just as sexy as his alt mode. Defiantly identical to his twin. One egg split in two. Only he has blond hair and deeper blue eyes, that send a shiver down her spine if his eyes lock with hers. As she dances with his brother, she can feel her, watching her, as if trying to find something wrong or waiting for her to mess up.
"Want to dance with her?" Sides asks him over the bond.
Sunstreaker can't help but scoff out loud. Making Clarissa stop in her tracks and stare at him.
"Something wrong, Sunstreaker?" She asks, holding tightly to Sides hand.
"Nothing that concerns you." He sneers.
"Sunny!" Sides warns.
"Don't call me that." Sunstreaker hisses.
"Do you have a problem with me, Sunny?" She enunciates the nickname unable to stop the smirk that lands on her pretty little lips as he grinds his teeth.
"Babe." Sideswipe squeezes her hand. She immediately turns innocent. Grabbing his forearm with her other hand and leaning closer to him.
"I'm sorry." She says to him, batting her long lashes up to him, her golden orbs sparkling.
Sunstreaker can't stop himself from sneering at her in disgust. "Seriously, Sideswipe! I thought you said she was as sweet as high grade with diamond dust." He growls.
"She is, but with you already judging her, why would she want to be." Sides growls back, defending her.
"Boys!" Clarissa steps in between them, pushing them apart. Well trying too. Then she turns to Sunstreaker.
"I think we got off on the wrong foot." She starts. She takes a deep sigh, then continues, "I realize that you weren't expecting you brother to be with someone when you found each other again. You probably want him all to yourself. I don't want to come in between you two." She looks to Sideswipe, who is concentrating hard on his twin.
"You won't, Sunny just needs to learn it's not all about him. I'm not sorry I fell in love, she's not going anywhere."
With that Sunstreaker's holoform vanishes into thin air. The sound of his engine is heard roaring in the distance, gravel peeling out from underneath his alt mode.
"Sideswipe, he's your brother, your twin, you shouldn't treat him like that." Clarissa scolds.
Sideswipe turns into her, pulling her close. His face hiding into her neck. "I know, especially after finding him again. It's just...This is how he's always been. It's always been the two of us. It will be hard for him to accept me loving someone that's not him." He mumbles sadly.
"Maybe you two should work on each other. You should focus on him. he is your twin. He was first." She suggests.
He pulls back and looks at her hard, trying to read her, making sure he heard her right.
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"No. God no." She quickly answers.
Sideswipe lets out a sigh, squeezing her tightly in his arms.
"Thank Primus." He presses kisses against her neck, up to her ear, then lightly sucking on it.
"That's not helping your brother." She tires not to moan, through her hands are already gripping his shirt.
"I know, but I need you. I've missed you so much." He molds his lips to hers, not letting her give any comments back.
Later, the two are inside and Clarissa is getting ingredients together to make dinner.
"Would Sunstreaker like to join us for dinner? I'd like to get to know him. If he lets me." That last sentence she says under her breath.
"I can ask, but I doubt he will." Sideswipe mutters looking off to the side.
He goes quiet for a moment. Clarissa pauses cutting the veggies and watches him talk through his bond. Not that there is much to see. His eyes seem to zone out and he slumps in his seat. For a second, he looks angry, when he squints his eyes and he clenches his teeth together. It then softens, a frown forms. Clarissa sets down the knife she was holding and walks around the island to him. he doesn't realize she's there until she sets her hand over his. in which he brings it up to his lips and plans a kiss over her knuckles.
"He doesn't want too." Sides says sadly.
"Well I wouldn't want to either after earlier." She points out.
"Then why did you ask me to invite him over?" He looks at her with a hint of anger.
"Its called common curtesy. You know being nice." She pats his arm and walks back around to resume cooking.
"But you knew he would say no?"
"That doesn't matter. I still want him to feel welcome. Especially since it feels like he hates me."
"He hates everyone." He spat.
"Cause that makes me feel better." She turns away to work at the stove.
She doesn't hear him get off his stool and make way behind her. his arms glide around her waist and he locks his hands across her stomach.
"That's not what I meant, and you know it." He whispers into her ear. "It's very hard, always has been, for him to let others in. It has always been just the two of us."
Her shoulders fall forward and gives a sigh. "I just don't want to get in between you two."
"You won't. I promise." He reaches to put a hand under her chin, making her turn and look at him. His eyes searching hers, looking for belief in his words.
"I love you." She whispers pressing her lips lightly to his.
"I love you too."
