Chapter 2 - Race that wind
"You know the first chance I got, I got blacktop gone, four lane fast, Topping off the tank with some never look back, Chase that sun, race that wind, With them horses that you can't fence in, Free like a freeway, high on a highway, Cranking up a getaway song getting blacktop gone"
Jason Aldean played in the back ground from a stereo that sat outside the tack room of the stable. The young women with the long blonde hair stood next to a black thoroughbred, brushing its coat, while singing along to the music. Her mind can't help but wonder to the beautiful red sports car she had seen and finding out that it is an Autobot. She thought about the first time she saw him. Riding up behind him. She wonders how she didn't notices the Autobot symbol on his license plate. Shrugging to herself, she continues on brushing the large horse.
"Beautiful." She says aloud.
The horse neighs back in response. She lets out a giggle and pats the horse on the back.
"Of course, you would agree." She mutters to him.
She walks towards the tack room, dropping off the brush in a bin next to the door, then she grabs a saddle off one of the racks. She shows no signs of a struggle in carrying the large tack.
"Now behave, Koda." She says with a stern voice as she threw the saddle over the horse's back. Koda stomps a hoove on the ground in response, rearing back his head a little in the process. She pulls the girth tight, making sure Koda let out the breath he was holding, then tightened it again. She pulls a bridle off a hook in the tack room and slide it over his face. Once checking everything twice, the two walk out of the barn, ready for an afternoon ride.
They walk along a trail behind her property, past the pastures. The sun shining high in the sky, lighting up the woods around them. Birds singing in the distance and little ground creatures scattered about. Then everything goes silent. Not a few seconds after, a loud clanking of metal clashing together, thunders throughout the forest. This causes her horse to rear back in fear. "Whoa Koda. Whoa." She speaks calmly, trying to get the big beauty to calm down. The clashing seems to be moving closer to her location. As much as she wants to stay and figure out what it is, her horse is not going to stand for it. With a swift kick, they are off, racing back to the barn.
"There ya go buddy." She says as she takes the halter off Koda and lets him go in one of the pastures.
What if I was made for you and you were made for me, What if this is it, what if it's meant to be" Her cell phone began to ring.
"What's up, Tyler?" Her voice flat as she spoke.
"You were supposed to be here an hour ago." Tyler's angry voice floods through the speaker.
"I told you I wasn't coming." She replies with some sass.
"We talked about this. You have to be here." She growls in response.
"You know that won't work on me. Get over here now!" He all but shouts.
"Fine!" She groans, then promptly hangs up the phone.
She pushes herself off of where she is leaning after she hung up the halter and heads to the garage that is attached to her small two-bedroom ranch style home. Before she heads out she needs to change into her street clothes from her country girl look. She unbuttons her red and black flannel and threw it on a chair in the corner of her room. Stripping out of her blue bootcut jeans and slipped on a pair of black skinny jeans. She pulls on simple black tee and pulls on her knee high black leather boots. Walking out to the front door, she pulls on her black form fitting leather jacket. She grabbed her keys and helmet, checked one more time for her wallet, then headed out the door. The rickety garage door opens with some screeching. The motorcycle roared to life as she sat on the seat, hands gripping the handles. Her blonde hair went behind her in a low ponytail, so her helmet will fit correctly. Then she leans forward, revs the engine and takes off out of the garage.
*-----------------*
The young primer red bot sits off to the side, while the other bots gather near a small orange mini con. He holds his helm up with his hand, while his elbow rests on his knee. His optics staring off into the distance. His mind letting him forget what is going on in his surroundings. It isn't until he gets a smack to his face, he realizes his name was being called.
"SIDESWIPE!" A blue and white police bot screams in his face.
"What the frag, Strongarm?" He yells back, caressing the side of his face.
"Sideswipe pay attention." Strongarm orders. Sideswipe grumbles as he got up and walks over to the rest of the group.
"Alright. Now that I have everybots attention." Bumblebee says stretching the second to last word.
Sideswipe lets out a loud groan, letting them all know how he feels about the matter. He stayed off to the side, arms crossed.
"After the scuffle with Thunderhoof this morning, we need to work on our strategies." Bumblebee starts to say.
"But what about what Thunderhoof said about other Cybertronians going missing?" Strongarm has her arm raised as she interrupted her superior.
Bumblebee put two fingers on his chin, thinking about an answer. "I don't know at the moment. It could just be a ploy. Though we will need to proceed with caution on any more missions."
Strongarm nods to the answer. Knowing her leader knows what is best.
Without warning, "I'm going on patrol." Sideswipe's voice surprises everyone.
"What why? You hate patrolling." Bee looks at him in confusion. A guilty look forms on Sideswipes face but went quickly unnoticed.
"It just sounds better than coming up with strategies." He says as he begins to walk off.
"Um okay. Just don't engage if you see any 'cons." Bee warns. Sideswipe waves a hand at him before transforming and quickly speeding off.
He doesn't know where he is going, but he doesn't seem to care at this point. He wants to be away from the scrapyard. A good drive, he hopes, would clear his helm. He stays driving around the wide area that is the national forest and near the scrapyard. He keeps to the speed limit, not in any hurry to get back to the scrapyard.
"Well well well. Primus must be on my side today." He whispers to himself.
Looking in his rearview mirror, coming up on him, is the blonde on the black and blue motorcycle. He slows down, hoping to catch her attention. He isn't going to let her get away this time. She pulls up close, moving over in an attempt to pass him. He quickly moves in front of her, blocking her way. He doesn't need to see her face to know he is getting to her. She begins to move quicker, but less graceful.
Her head is spinning. She knows what he is trying to pull, and she is not going to let it work. As she tries to get around him again, he quickly gets over. He can't help but laugh at her as she keeps swerving. While he is laughing, he lets his guard down, giving her enough time to slip past him. Giving the gas, she puts the pedal to the medal. She sends him a 'see ya' salute as she speeds past. The darkened visor makes it difficult for him to see the sneakiness in her eyes, the smirk on her face. She is well ahead of him now. He keeps on her tail, keeping her in his sights. This only makes her rev the two wheeled engine faster. She knows just as well as he does, she has some competition.
With a swift kick to the ground, she kicks the bike out a little to catch some dust, hoping it will slow down her competitor. She can see her home just beyond the trees. She needs to get this guy off her tail. To bad for her, Sideswipe isn't about to give up so easily. The dust may have slowed him down, but he isn't going to make the same mistake twice. He keeps his optics on her, staying back a little ways, letting her think he got slowed down more than he actually did. She checks her mirrors, looks ahead, her driveway is coming up, the red lambo is out of her sights. She clutches down and turns into her driveway and drove straight into her garage. As the garage door closes around her, Sideswipe slowly creeps up her driveway, taking in the layout of her home.
