Dodging Bullets
Harry had heard the footsteps coming up to the door. Thinking it was one of his workers he had made Robbie get off of his lap. He was shocked to see Emma and some guy walking into his office. Were they having Robbie followed? He could feel Robbie freeze beside him.
"Hi, Emma," Harry said as casually as he could manage. "Can I help you with something?" He hoped his face and voice didn't betray him.
Emma looked relieved. "Harry, hi. I didn't mean to intrude but Tom and I saw Robbie come in here and we just decided to follow him in." Tom looked a little surprised and disappointed.
Robbie just sat there not moving or saying anything. Harry wondered if they realized that this was a gay club. There were so many people tonight it would be difficult to tell.
Emma looked at the two men on the couch, smiling. "It's good to see you two finally getting along. Me and Kendall were worried. So," she looked from Harry to Robbie. "What are we talking about here? Still debating over your favorite teams?"
Robbie was still silent so Harry chimed in. "Robbie was asking about booking space here at the club for a party. It was supposed to be a surprise for you."
"Really? Aww," Emma was touched. "That's why you've been so secretive. A surprise for me?" She bent over and gave Robbie a kiss on the cheek. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the surprise."
Harry looked away, not wanting to see Emma being affectionate to Robbie. He could feel a tightening in his chest as he stood up. "If you all will excuse me, I have a lot of work to do."
"I'm sorry, Harry," Emma pulled at Robbie's arm until he was standing by her side. "I didn't mean to bother you. I just wanted to get my guy here." She held onto Robbie in a possessive manner. "I appreciate the booking."
"No worries." Harry moved past the group and went to the door. "Thanks for stopping by." He didn't want to seem rude but he was getting bothered at the sight of Robbie and Emma together.
Emma and Tom were leaving when Robbie pulled back. "I have to talk to Harry," he told her. "Do you mind going without me? I can meet you at home."
"Sure, baby," Emma kissed him on the lips. "I'll see you at home. Don't stay out too late, you have to get up very early tomorrow." She looked at Harry. "I'm really glad that you two are finally friends. We'll have to double date soon." She left behind Tom. Robbie closed the door after them.
Harry sighed as he sat on the couch. "That was too close."
Robbie agreed. Thank God Harry heard something and made him get out of his lap. That was the second time he was almost caught by Emma. He had been dodging a lot of bullets lately. Maybe he should take this as a sign. Stop messing around. But that would be impossible. He couldn't stop this attraction.
Robbie sat on the couch and moved closer to Harry but Harry stopped him. "What?"
"Aren't you going home to Emma?" Harry asked him.
Robbie was taken aback by the rebuff. "What's the rush? She thinks we're hanging out." Robbie could smell the fragrance of Harry's cologne and was aroused immediately. All he wanted to do was to kiss and hold him. Harry was his drug of choice, there was no denying it. He hoped Harry wasn't rejecting him. Robbie was putting a lot on the line for him.
"You're not worried about her?" Harry asked.
"Since when are you worried?" Robbie asked. "You weren't thinking of her when we started this."
True, Harry thought. He knew what he was getting into. He flopped back against the cushions in defeat. "I can't believe I'm doing this again. Zayn was right."
Robbie looked at him. "About what?"
"I shouldn't be getting involved with someone who's taken," Harry found himself confiding. "I get sucked in every time. I see a cute sexy guy. He's taken, I go for it anyway, then boom." He stopped, realizing he was saying too much. What was happening to him?
"What?" Robbie moved closer and put a hand on Harry's thigh. "Tell me."
Harry was aware that Robbie's hand was about an inch away from his privates. "Never mind. You might want to remove your hand from there."
"Why?"
"You're about to find out why in a minute."
Robbie looked down. "Oh wow! What a response."
Harry shook his head. "See what I mean? You just have that effect on me, just like that. You have to stop now if you don't want me to jump your virgin bones."
Robbie looked down at his hand that was about to touch the danger zone. "I would," he teased. "But this is kinda your fault. You started this whole thing."
No kidding. "I can also finish it, so watch out."
"Go ahead," Robbie was loving this game. "Nobody's here to stop you. Jump away, I dare you. I'm ready right now, how do you know I won't jump you?"
Harry wanted to laugh. Robbie was so crazy. He couldn't remember the last time he was with someone who made him laugh and gave him a good time. Someone who was single. That thought brought him back to cold reality. "Maybe we should call it a night."
Robbie was disappointed. He was ready to play. "What? Why? If you're still worried about Emma, don't. You heard her, she thinks we're friends."
Harry didn't know why he was being like this. The whole arrangement with Robbie was supposed to be just fun. Two guys having a good time, no strings attached. But instead he was starting to like Robbie and Robbie was getting feelings about him too. It was obvious, the way they were jealous of each other's woman.
"You're not trying to get rid of me, are you?" Robbie asked, sitting back to look at him. "You had your fun and now you're kicking me to the curb?"
"No. Why would you even think that?"
"Before, you couldn't keep your hands and mouth off of me. Now after we've slept together you can't get away from me fast enough."
Harry was surprised at the accusation. "Do you really think I would do that to you? Really?"
"I don't know what you'd do," Robbie threw up his hands. "I don't know you well enough."
"Wow," Harry said. "We don't really know each other very well, do we?" He realized that with all the sex play they had done, they had never really talked to each other on a personal level.
"I know you have a birthday coming up," Robbie was saying. "I heard Emma talking about it with Kendall. February the first, right?"
Harry smiled, flattered that he would remember that. "Yeah, that's right."
"And," Robbie continued. "I already know that you were a baker back in Cheshire, and that this club is your pride and joy. I know that you're devoted to your work, much like myself."
Harry nodded. "Not bad."
"I know right? My turn."
"You're an anal pain in the butt, literally."
They laughed and talked, learning more about each other. Harry was aware of Robbie's head on his lap as they talked. It seemed natural.
"Oh man," Robbie looked at his phone. "It's getting pretty late." He sat up. "I'd better go before Emma puts me on the missing persons list."
"Or come in here with that guy." Harry said.
"Yeah, what was that all about?" Robbie looked indignant. "That Felton is the true pain in the ass. I bet he put her up to coming here with his nosy ass."
Harry was suddenly sorry to see Robbie leave. Before, he couldn't get Robbie out of here fast enough. His feelings were really giving him whiplash. "Oh."
Robbie sensed his hesitation. "Unless you need me to stick around and. . .talk some more."
Harry reached out and hooked a finger in the belt loop of Robbie's pants. "I'm always up. . .for talking."
"Yeah?" Robbie grinned. "Well I'm always up. . .period."
Harry pulled Robbie closer and their lips pressed together. Soon the men were tearing off each other's clothing and rolling on the couch before moving to the floor.
Robbie ended up going home two hours later with a smile on his face.
