Confession

Emma stood there, frozen in shock.

Robbie. Her Robbie.

And. . .Harry? Kendall's Harry?

They were having an affair. With each other.

This. Was. Not. Happening.

Robbie was frozen as he saw Emma glaring down at them in shock and disgust. He didn't know what to do or say. Somehow "this isn't what it looks like" wasn't going to fly. Not with Emma. He noticed that Felton was standing right behind Emma, taking in the situation. Well that was just great. Now Felton knew their business.

"So," Felton nodded. "That's how it is."

Robbie watched as Harry stood up and quickly gathered his clothes that had been tossed around. He could see the red forming on Harry's face as he tried to cover himself.  He rushed into the nearest room to get dressed.

Robbie sat there not knowing where to go, or who to go to. Emma or Harry?

Emma decided for him. "Get dressed." she said in a cold tone, her arms folded tightly.  "Now!"

Robbie rushed into the bedroom to find something to put on. Harry was already in there putting his shirt back on as fast as he could. He didn't look at Robbie or even noticed him as they got dressed.

"I am so sorry, Harry," Robbie finally said. "Honestly, I thought she was gone. She must have forgotten something. I'm really sorry."

"Yeah, tell it to your fiancee," Harry said, face red.. "I've heard it before."

Robbie tried to touch Harry but he pulled away. "It's not my fault. I didn't know she was coming back."

"You know what? Work it out with Emma. I don't want to hear it." Harry said. "I knew I shouldn't have come back here. Go talk to Emma." Harry left the bedroom. Robbie followed. Harry breezed past Emma and Tom and left the apartment. Robbie noticed that Tom wasn't budging.

"You can go too," Robbie said. "This is none of your business."

"I'll leave if Emma wants me to." Tom said.

Emma nodded to Tom. "I can take it from here, Tom. Thanks for everything."

"Let me know if you need anything."

"I will."

After Tom left, Robbie pointed after him. "So what's that all about? What's he doing here?"

"You do not get to ask the questions here." Emma paused for a second. "Give me your phone."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. I want your phone now." She said in a low voice.

Robbie got his phone from the counter where he left it, and handed it to Emma.

"Unlock it now."

He did so.

Emma wasn't sure what she was looking for, but she would know it when she saw it. There were several texts from "H". She saw the selfies they sent of each other, along with the texts that clearly were intimate. They went back several months.

Then she went to the pictures. Scrolling through them she found several of Harry. One was the large nude he had taken. There were several pictures of Harry nude. A few were Harry in bed asleep.

Emma felt her gut sink as she remembered the clues. That time at the country club when they disappeared all of a sudden, then reappeared out of nowhere. That phone number written on Robbie's arm. The late nights, the distance. Robbie always, always on his phone and never letting her near.

What about the double dates with Kendall? Did she know?

Robbie. And Harry. They used to argue sometimes. She worried that maybe they didn't get along, which was why she stopped initiating any more double dates.

This entire time Robbie and Harry were sleeping together. The fighting was a front.

That club. Tom had seen them together. Only they thought the two were just hanging out. They must have been using that office for their forbidden activities.

Of course. How stupid of her.

When Emma first realized that Robbie was cheating on her, she had always assumed that it was another woman. Even the pictures that Tom took it looked like it was a woman.

It wasn't bad enough that Robbie had cheated. He cheated with another man.

Emma let the phone drop to the floor. She sat down in the nearest chair. She just felt sick about everything.

Robbie sat in the chair across from her, fully dressed thank God. She waited to hear whatever excuse he came up with.

"I don't know where to even start." he said.

"Just tell me why," Emma said. "With my best friend's man. Why would you do that?"

"Emma," Robbie said. "Do you remember me telling you about my first kiss?"

"What? What does that have to do with what you did."

"Remember? The treehouse? Grandfather caught us? Think."

Emma didn't know where Robbie was going with this. "I don't know, someone named Taylor. Why?"

"Emma, Taylor was a boy." Robbie said. "My first kiss was from another boy."

This surprised Emma almost as much as the cheating. "What?"

"When Grandfather caught us, he told me that wasn't normal and he wouldn't accept that," Robbie went on. "So I went along and dated girls just to be accepted. I even got engaged, just so I would be considered normal."

Emma was beginning to realize what he was trying to say. "What?"

Just then Grandfather came in.  "Tom said I had to be here," he said as he took a seat on the sofa.  "He said there was something going on with you two.  What is it?"

Great, Robbie thought.  The timing couldn't be more perfect.  He could kill two birds with one stone.

"Emma, Grandfather," Robbie took a deep breath and continued. "I'm gay. I didn't want to admit it to anyone, not even to myself. I just wanted to be part of the mainstream. Harry saw it right away and got me to face it and stop hiding." He looked at his grandfather, who stared back in absolute disgust.  "I've been having an affair with Harry."

Robbie was so glad to finally say what he'd been carrying around all this time. He was actually coming out and it felt great.

Grandfather stood up, his face twisted.  "I told you that wasn't normal.  I will not allow that."

"You don't get a say," Robbie told him.  "That's kinda how I'm made.  I like boys and there's nothing you can do or say about it."

Grandfather pointed a finger at him.  "Yes, I can.  I can fire you and I can disown you if you choose to live this lifestyle."

Robbie also stood up.  "It's not a lifestyle, it's my life.  So go right ahead."

Grandfather seemed a little surprised that Robbie answered back.  "You're fired," he hissed.  "And you are no longer my grandson."

Robbie only felt relief.  He looked at Emma.  She was looking at the floor.  "I'm sorry, Emma, I really am.  I never wanted to hurt you, but this is who I am."

Emma nodded.  "I think you should leave now." she mumbled.

Robbie walked out the door of his apartment.  He had no idea where to go or what to do.  But for the first time in his life, he felt absolutely free.

He was finally himself.
