Chapter 13

General P.O.V.

“You said that we have to dress up like Alice in wonderland but how come I look this way?” Len protested as he looked at the mirror and stare at his attire. It had a black long tailed coat, black slacks and dress shoes that fit him perfectly.

“Why? Don’t you like it? Would you rather wear the heart soldier mascot?” Rin asked as she fixed the dress she was wearing. It was a yellow Alice in wonderland type of dress but underneath was a corset connected to a petticoat that made her dress puff a little bit.

Her dress was matched with a pair of white Lolita socks (look it up if you don’t know what it is) that looked perfect on her with a pair of ballet flats colored yellow.

“Well, I think white would suit me better.” Len said and Rin just rolled her eyes on that. She placed something on one of the coat pockets of Len.

A red heart but behind it was a recorder and a camera.

“Len, You look perfect!” She hugged him and smiled.

“T-thanks? I guess?” He said and Rin pulled away from the hug. She pulled something from her bed, A caliber 45 and slipped it under her apron.

“Rin, do we need guns? I thought it’s a tea party?” Len asked but Rin turned around to face him.

“Len, Do you know the Megurine family?” Rin asked. Len nodded. “You know them alright but not their underground doings.”

“What do you mean?” Len asked. Rin took another gun from her closet and threw it to Len.

“You’ll know when we get there so I suggest that you keep close to me, dear Lenny. You don’t want to get killed that easily.” Rin advised and took her bow before they left for the party.

They rode a fancy limousine to the Midnight pavilion and when they arrived, they saw guests from far and wide that was invited to the tea party.

“Rin! Oh Rin! Thank you for giving me the invitation.” Miku said and beside her is Taito who is dressed like a mad hatter.

“Oh, I see that you received the invitation I sent. Well, did you see the note added to it?” Rin asked calmly as they proceed to a table of four.

“Yes, we did and I must say, you know a lot of people and their jobs.” Miku replied and they both laughed.

“You know the funny thing about girls?” Taito asked Len all of a sudden.

“What?” Len replied in curiosity.

“They are sometimes too bipolar.” Taito said, loud enough for the girls to hear them.

“Really? You think we are bipolar?” Rin asked and deadly flames at the boys. Len just pointed at Taito.

“Well, one moment you’re fighting then the next is you both are laughing like nothing happened.” Taito made his point and Miku made her move. She was annoyed alright so she punched Taito in his gut which he did not saw coming.

“Hmp!” Both the girls went to the table and sat next to each other while Both of the guys were trying to recover from that punch of Miku.

Once they were settled, the host of the tea party went out from hiding.

“Welcome! I have invited you here to enjoy a tea under the midnight moon. As you can see, you are all dressed in your best for Alice in wonderland so please do so enjoy it that way.” Luka said and even though she was in a mask, Rin, Miku and the two boys recognized her because of her pink hair.

“Okay, so after the tea party, what will happen?” Miku asked quietly as they all wait for the tea and the desserts.

“Well, I don’t really know. I skipped the next part of the party the last time I attended here but I know that the next day, thirteen deaths were reported.” Rin said while she kept her calm.

“Well, how many attended?” Taito asked.

“Fourteen, including me.” Rin said and they all knew that she was the only survivor that time.

When their tea arrived they began to be observant as they could. They all say a similar pin and every maid and every butler that attended them.

A crescent moon pin that was either on the chest pockets or at the collar of their uniforms.

As Rin remembered, they were all wearing the same pins the last tea party.

“Keep your eyes open for any weird movement from the maids and butlers. Keep an eye out on a blue haired man as well.” Rin advised and sniffed out the food. She smelled burnt almonds on the cinnamon bun and the tea was in a weird shade of other than the original one.

“Don’t eat the cinnamon bun and don’t drink the tea. It’s both poisoned. The cinnamon bun has cyanide and the tea? Well, it’s not a proper  shade for earl grey.” Rin advised so they took it and instead started exchanging stories.

“Rin, Let’s go roam the rose garden.” Len said. Rin was actually surprised that he spotted the garden from behind her.

“Will we not call Miku and Taito?” Rin wondered.

“Nope.” He answered and they both went to the garden and Miku nor Taito notice them leave.

As they strolled, By now they heard screams already but they didn’t care. Each of the guest came here at their own risk.

“Rin, when you came back, did you still like me back then?” Len asked.

“Of course! But that the reason why I hated myself so much when I came back I heard you and Miku came through.”  Rin said, and despite that was a bitter memory, she smiled.

“I think I now know the reason why you are loved by everybody.” Len said and paused to look at a beautiful bush of yellow roses[?].

“What is it?” Rin asked.

“Well, you can be loved easily and you never pout in front of the crowd.” Len gave her a yellow rose while bowing down like a servant to Rin.

“I also know why you are easily loved by the crowd. You can be good to everyone and you never let your fans down.” She said and accepted the rose.

“You really think that-“

“No, Len. I don’t think. But I know.” She said and cupped his cheeks.

“That’s why I-“

They heard the scream of Miku and table over turning. Rin looked at her watch and saw the time. It’s midnight, which means the game already started.

“We better be with Miku and Taito when things get rough.” Len suggested and they both took off, sprinting to Miku and Taito.

They saw that the table were over turned, two or three corpses on the ground and Miku, together with Taito, was standing there, bit filled with bruises.

“What happened?” Rin asked.

“Rin, some is here to kill every one of us.” Taito told them.

“Well, well, well…if it isn’t my dear brother, Taito.” A voice, similar to Taito, spoke throughout the pavilion.

“Kaito?” A shadow loomed out of the dark and showed.

“I see. Well, I think this will be more exciting that the last time I went here.” Rin said and too the hand of Len.

“You can guess it already? I’m so fluttered you think that way.” Kaito replied and vines whipped to the air, shooting towards them.

“Run! Run as fast as you can! And follow only me.” Rin said and ran to the maze.

The maze spread out for miles and the bushes were tall and their only light is the fire, dancing to Rin’s hand and the moon.

“So what happens now?” Miku asked.

“This maze is based to a story. Alice in wonderland but a different version. A horror one.” Rin said and paused.

The first Alice wore a clad armor, slashing and killing several creatures of Wonderland.

Rin paused on her steps looks back slowly. There was a red trail going to their path.

“Run! The first Alice is here!”

They went to the right and ran faster. Taito had no chance on running in his human form so he transformed to a wolf and asked Miku to go behind him.

“Rin, Len, go! Run as fast as you can! we’ll catch up.” Miku shouted. Rin and Len held hands and ran as fast as they could in their vampire speed with Taito and Miku behind them.

Rin heard the blade that was touching the ground, hitting the stones and a humming of a lady behind us.

“Hurry! The first one is here!” She shouted and ran harder and faster.

“Shit!” She heard Taito curse from behind.

“Rin, we have to send a decoy!” Len suggested

“No! We’ll split courses and meet the second Alice together.” Rin ordered and they split courses. Len and Rin together and the cousins together as well.

“Wherever you go. This is my maze. You can’t actually get away  here alive.” Rin heard the laugh of the first Alice and stopped on her tracks.

“She’s tracking us. I know it.” Rin turned around and saw the first alice behind them.

“R-Rin.”

“You are a farce. Battling me without giving me a weapon. You must be a coward.” Rin told the lady in a red clad armour.

“You…”

“I’m just playing fair and square for the sake of the players. I wish to play fairly with you.” Rin told her wisely. The Alice snarled and gave a sword for Rin to use.

“Len, go find some popcorn so that you can enjoy the show.” Rin reminded Len. Len shook his head and just decided to help Rin.

“I’ll help. I can’t possibly leave you here, right?” He asked. Rin ran to him gave a peck in the cheek.

“That’s why I can rely on you all the time.” Rin positioned beside Len.

“How can you possibly defeat a talented swordsman like me? You don’t even have a weapon.” The Alice asked.

Surprisingly, Len had hidden a katana at his back.

“Len!~ You’ll help me right? Right?” Rin chirped and glared at the Alice.

“Do I have a choice? Of course I’ll help.” Len said and stepped forward with Rin to battle.

“I see that you choose to battle with me. Well, be glad that I’ll be holding back for you.” She said and charged.

Her speed was simply mortifying. I almost didn’t notice her make the kill for Rin. Almost.

I moved my sword to block hers and engaged in battle. I let Rin avoid the said battle. She might hurt herself.

“I see that you choose to protect her. That won’t be long. I’ll just have to slice you to half before you could make a blow on me.” She said arrogantly and charged once more.

This time, she was faster but I didn’t lose. I observed her moves and analyzed what her next move will be and before she could go for the kill, a flaming arrow shot her.

“Impossible. You don’t have a weapon with you.” She said and slowly fell to her knees.

I turned around to see Rin holding a bow and a smirk was painted on her face. Apparently, she was fast enough to summon that bow and quiver in less than ten seconds.

“That is why people fear me. I’m an original. The Princess of the night kingdom.” She bellowed.

“Im-Impossible..” The Alice said and was deducted to ash.

I was frozen there.

Rin was stronger than the last time.
