Chapter Seven
Mitch stared at Jerome with wide eyes. "Dude, why did you attack her? She wasn't doing anything to you!" he exclaimed.
Jerome growled at the door the girl had slammed. "She isn't normal Mitch."
TrueMU tilted his head. "What do you mean? She looks like any other hybrid," he said.
Jerome shook his head. "It's hard to explain. She is definitely a wolf hybrid, but she has some other scent on her too."
"Do you recognize the scent?" Mitch asked.
Jerome nodded. "I do, but at the same time I don't."
Mitch had a confused look on his face. "What do you mean by that?" he asked.
"It's not the first time I've smelled that scent before, but I don't know what it is," Jerome replied. "It's strange, I'm pretty sure I've smelled it on Ty and one of the recruits before."
"Maybe all three of them came from the same place?" Ian suggested.
"Maybe. It bothers me that I can't place what the scent is though," Jerome said.
"She has to come out eventually Jerome. I'm sure she can tell you then," TrueMU reassured. "In the meantime, Ian, why don't you visit Derp? I'm sure he misses you," he said.
Ian's eyes lit up and he rushed towards Derp's room. TrueMU laughed and followed Ian. Mitch also followed Ian, but stopped when he noticed Jerome hadn't moved. He was still staring at the door, lost in thought.
"Jerome, you coming?" Mitch asked.
Jerome jumped at Mitch's voice. "Oh, yeah. Sorry," he mumbled as he followed the others.
Mitch stared at Jerome and shook his head. He glanced at the door one last time and followed his best friend.

Ty and Seto glanced up at the sound of a slammed door. Selene was standing beside the door with a box in her hands, slightly out of breath.
"Oh good, are those the melons?" Seto asked. Selene nodded, and Seto took the box from her. "Oh, welcome to my little office by the way," he added. He opened the box and began sorting the fruit.
Ty gazed at Selene curiously. She looked slightly nervous. "Are you ok Selene?" Ty asked.
Selene stared at Ty. "No! You didn't tell me you had a bacca hybrid here!" she exclaimed.
Seto looked up from his work. "Oh yeah, we have a bacca hybrid here Selene," he said.
Selene rolled her eyes. "Really, I couldn't tell," she said sarcastically. "He just attacked me in the hallway!"
Ty looked confused. "Jerome doesn't attack anyone without a reason. What were you doing?" he asked.
"I was walking down the hallway with the box of melons in my hands," Selene said. "That wouldn't provoke him, would it?"
Ty shook his head. "No. Maybe he smelled something suspicious on you and thought you were a spy."
"Like my wolf half? You do remember that baccas and wolves are enemies in the wild, right?" Selene asked.
Ty laughed. "I know Selene. I'm thinking more along the lines of Ender though," he said. "There aren't many Enders in the Overworld. He may have smelled that and misinterpreted the scent as something else."
Selene didn't look convinced. "Are you sure it has nothing to do with my wolf half?" she questioned.
Ty nodded. "I'm positive," he said.
Seto looked up from his sorting, putting the good melons back in the box and throwing out the bad fruit. "Why don't we ask Jerome himself?" he suggested.
Ty and Selene stared at Seto. "Why?" Ty asked.
"You aren't Jerome, so he's the only one who actually knows why he attacked Selene. Once we figure out why, we can convince him that Selene is safe to be around." Seto said.
Selene glared at Seto. "Safe?" she asked in a threatening tone.
Seto smirked. "A safe little puppy," he teased.
Selene whacked him on the shoulder. "You should be happy that I don't have my sword with me right now," she warned.
Seto grinned. "But you wouldn't hurt me now, would you?" he purred.
Ty rolled his eyes. "Come on guys, you can flirt with each other later," he said.
Selene and Seto blushed furiously. Seto tried to protest, but Ty shushed him. "I don't feel like having to chase down Jerome, so let's go," Ty said as he walked out of the room.
Selene glanced at Seto, who shrugged. The two Enders followed Ty into the hallway, who was waiting for them. Selene nudged Luna, who reluctantly followed Jerome's scent to Derp's room. Ty opened the door for the small group, and they walked inside.
Ian was talking to Derp, and the other generals were talking quietly among themselves. TrueMU glanced up and lifted his hand to wave at Ty. Ty shook his head and put a finger to his lips. Mitch looked at TrueMU curiously and turned around to see what TrueMU was looking at. "Ty!" he exclaimed, grabbing everyone's attention.
Everyone spun around to see Ty standing at the door with the girl and Seto. Jerome growled, and the girl narrowed her eyes at him, challenging him. Mitch put a hand on Jerome's shoulder to calm him.
Ty watched the exchange between the two with interest before speaking. "Jerome, I'd like to introduce you to Selene. She's a good friend of mine," he said.
Mitch raised an eyebrow. "How good of a friend is she?" he asked.
Ty laughed. "She's not my girlfriend if that's what you're asking. We're just good friends," he said.
Jerome watched Selene with suspicion in his eyes. "How long will she be staying?" he asked.
Selene walked over to a chair and sat down. "I don't know how long exactly, but you can prepare to have me here for a while," she said. "I haven't been here for a long time."
Ian looked at Selene with surprise. "You've been here before?" he asked.
Selene nodded. "Yup. I'm not a recruit, but I used to visit the Base quite a bit," she said.
"Do you know the Commander then?" TrueMU asked.
Seto glanced at Selene worriedly, but Selene ignored him. "Adam? Yeah, I know him. Actually, do you know where he is? I would like to talk to him."
"He should still be in his office, we just came from there," Jerome answered. He had finally warmed up to Selene.
"Thanks, I'll be headed over there then," she said. "Oh, and hello Derp."
Derp looked up at Selene with surprise. Not many people talked to him like a normal person. "Hi," he said.
Ian stared at Selene. "How did you know who he was?" he asked.
Selene laughed. "Seto has told me quite a bit about the Base. I know more people than just Ty," she teased.
Ty rolled his eyes. "Selene's a bit of a flirt. Just a little warning for the future," he said.
Selene pouted. "I'm not that bad. I have to get going. Do you guys want to come with me?" she asked. "I think Ty still needs to report back to Adam."
The generals shrugged. "Sure, we were just looking for Ty anyways," Mitch said.
"I have to stay here, but I'll see you later Selene," Seto said as he left Derp's room.
Selene crouched down and Hecate jumped into her arms. Selene straightened, and she looked back at the rest of the group. "Let's go," she said. She walked out of the room, and the generals followed her.
A/N
I don't like this chapter. It feels a bit rushed. Anyways, thanks for 300 views everyone! The next chapter may be a little late next week since I'll be at camp for the whole week. Actually, I have something special in chapter 9 for this book. I'm excited to write it, it'll be fun.
ToxicWolfie183, you may be happy in chapter 9. I'd like to see your reaction to it.
Also, I'm writing a book called Banana Adventures. It'll be about a banana named Billy. It's dumb, but I die from laughter when I start writing. It's just one of those things that are so dumb they're funny. I update a new chapter every Wednesday.
I can't give any big details until after chapter 9, so I don't really know what to add. Well, I get a lot of ideas for this from other stories, animations, and music videos. I love TryHardNinja, but I also listen to some Disney stuff. I get a bunch of ideas from MineworksAnimations, so go check them out. I especially like "One and Zeros" and "Beautiful World." That has given me quite a few ideas that I can't share until WAY later.
See you all next week!
Actually, I'd like to have a quick poll. I made an alternate cover, and I can't decide which one is better. What do you guys think? The current cover is first, the alternate one is second. I can always change the text if I need to.
