Chapter Fifteen
Jerome was the first to jump. He landed cleanly on the carpeted floor. When he looked up, he saw a couch and television across the room he was crouched in. A crackling fire was burning in the fireplace. Jerome called out to the others above and quickly moved out of the way as Mitch jumped down next.
The generals looked around the room interestedly, compared to the immortals' bored expressions. Notch and Jason set off, inspecting the rooms for signs of any living presences. Herobrine searched a small bag he pulled out from underneath his cloak, looking for something in specific. The generals explored the house with interest, examining the odd objects scattered on the shelves. A black cat watched them suspiciously with emerald eyes from its perch, its tail lashing angrily. Luna sat underneath the cat, not sure what to do.
A foreign scent reached Jerome, and he put down the strange statue he was holding to sniff the air. He growled, grabbing Mitch's attention. Jerome tracked the scent to the couch. At first glance, the couch appeared to be unoccupied, simply covered in blankets. Jerome, however, noticed the small movements under the sheets. He pulled the blankets off the couch, revealing the two missing immortals.
The two were fast asleep, with Selene cuddled up to Sky. A small click was heard, and Jerome glanced behind him just in time to see Jason putting away a camera. Jason winked at Jerome and walked down a hallway, away from the main group. He came back with his father as the generals gathered around the couch. Herobrine pulled two softly glowing bands from his bag and handed one to his brother. The two gods fitted the bands on the sleeping immortals' arms.
There was a noticeable shift in the air when the band was placed on Sky's wrist. The generals glanced at the gods questioningly. Notch noted the confused expressions and explained, "These bands block our auras and magic. You've probably never noticed before, being around Sky for so long, but his aura is one of the strongest in Minecraftia."
The generals nodded to show their understanding of this statement. Jerome asked, "What if they try to teleport away?"
Notch chuckled. "Like I said, the bands block magic. He can't teleport or cast any magic until the bands come off. If I'm correct, Oreh has the key to unlock them...?" he added with a questioning gaze to Herobrine.
Herobrine glanced up from a spell and nodded. He finished the charm and carelessly tossed his bag into the fireplace. The fire burned a pure white for an instant, causing the generals to shout out in alarm. The flame returned to its original orange before vanishing.
Herobrine snickered at the mortals' shocked expressions before moving to pick up Sky. He cradled his son in his arms as Notch adjusted Selene in his. Jason carefully sheathed Sky's sword, working to avoid the blade to touch his skin. The generals stood in the center of the room awkwardly before Jason led the group out of Selene's house.
1 Day Remaining
Both the immortals and mortals were silent as they trekked back to the base. The sky was painted with its early morning hues, the sun rising in the distance. Herobrine murmured in an ancient language, earning odd looks from the generals.
Ian grew tired of the silence and spoke up. "So um, Herobrine?" Herobrine glanced at the unsure mortal and nodded for Ian to continue. "Why did the fire turn white when you threw the bag into it?"
Herobrine gave Ian a reassuring smile to ease him before answering, "Every magic user has a color associated with their magic. Mine just happens to be white, but that fire in specific is called 'Brine Fire'. It allows me to teleport objects wherever I want, which is what happened to the bag."
Ian nodded slowly, absorbing the new information. "And what about that spell you were casting earlier? What type of magic is that?"
"It's a simple sleeping charm," Herobrine explained. "We don't want these two waking up before we get back to the base."
Ian tilted his head as a new question came to mind. "So what is the language you were speaking in?"
Notch narrowed his eyes. "That's none of your business," he snapped, catching the mortals off guard. Notch then hissed, "Egaugnal ruo ni gniklat pots, Oreh."
Herobrine snickered and replied, "Ti gnikaeps uoy era yhw neht?"
Jason laughed up ahead, halting the brothers from their argument. The group looked up and sighed in relief when they saw the gates gleaming in the morning sun. The recruits standing guard shouted to the recruits on the ground, ordering them to open the gates. The gates were opened, and recruits swarmed the group as soon as they entered the base.
Herobrine growled at the sudden attention he was receiving. Notch noted the change in his brother's attitude and beckoned Jason over as well as he could with Selene in his arms. Jason complied, and Notch muttered his question. Jason nodded, and whistled to get the recruits' attention.
"Look, we understand you're happy that we've returned," Jason started, "but you have have your jobs to do, and we have ours. So if you would, return to your positions. Any recruits off-duty are welcome to help us." The recruits slowly withdrew from the mass, only a few remaining. Herobrine nodded to Notch, a look of thankfulness in his eyes.
Jason led the group to the training center, a handful of recruits trailing behind. Jason removed Sky's sword from its sheath and placed it carefully in a case next to the weapon room. A soft meow sounded from behind Mitch, who turned around to discover the black cat from Selene's house. The cat pawed at Mitch's shoelaces, and he picked her up. Mitch smiled as she purred, and began petting the happy cat.
Herobrine and Notch gently placed Sky and Selene on the floor near the back of the large room. Notch backed off as Herobrine prepared to cast yet another spell. His hands momentarily glowed white before returning to normal. The mortals glanced at the two unconscious immortals before returning their gaze to Herobrine.
Luna crept up to the Commander and hybrid. She nudged Sky, who stirred in his slumber. Luna wagged her tail and began licking Sky's face. Sky screwed up his face and pushed her away, blinking away the sleep in his eyes. He froze when he spotted Herobrine just a few feet away. "Oh, um, hello Father," Sky said nervously.
A/N
Yay I finished! Haha, sorry for the long wait guys. I just haven't had that much time to write. School takes up wayyy too much time. I'm just surprised I managed to get this to 1k words.
There is an upload schedule now. Secrets Revealed will be updated every Sunday, and there will be a week or so of no updates after this book is completed before Chapter 1 of The Beginning is posted. Yes, Secrets Revealed is ending soon, possibly at Chapter 20. Maybe earlier, I haven't decided yet.
Until next time my friends!
Edit: Yes, a couple things have been added. Nothing too big, just enough to tick me off if I didn't fix it.
