The Belly of The Beast

It was now around evening or so. Ever since they crash-landed on the cluster of rocks, all they've been doing is either trying to radio for help, checking the survival supplies, or trying to fix the Land Bounty. The Land Bounty is a vehicle big enough to carry all of them and the three other smaller vehicles.

As Zane and Harumi stood behind the Dune Bounty, trying everything in their power to fix it, vultures circled the rock they were standing on in the air, cawing at them. Zane and Harumi looked at the vultures before they gave each other a concerned, brief look. They then placed their attention back to the Land Bounty.

Through the comms, they heard Jay groaning. "Ugh, vultures. That's never a good sign."

Harumi clicked on her earpiece, "Vultures are carrion birds." She said.

"Yes, Harumi," Zane nodded, talking to Harumi and Jay, "It is a sign they believe we are a potential meal." He clarified.

Harumi didn't even have to see Jay to know that he flattened his brows when he said, "Oh, thanks, Zane. Thanks, Harumi. Way to boost morale." His voice was painted with sarcasm.

"Can you guys keep it down?" Nya's voice chimed in through the commlinks, "I'm trying to reach PIXAL on the radio. Come in. PIXAL? Can you hear me? Mayday, mayday! Come in, PIXAL." She tried to contact PIXAL, but to no avail, it didn't reach the Monastery.

"Any luck?" Lloyd asked, coming up to Jay and Nya from behind. He was holding boxes filled with emergency survival supplies.

"Nothing." Nya sighed in a somewhat defeated tone, "There's something wrong with the long-range transmitter, but I can't figure out what." She frowned.

Lloyd looked down in sorrow before replying, "Okay, well... don't give up." He walked out of the Bounty but slightly tripped over his own foot because he was deep in thought, "W-Whoa!" He stumbled.

Regaining his balance on the ground, he sighed in relief. Looking at all the boxes, he was holding four of them. The boxes were blocking his view which didn't help with his situation at all. And out of nowhere, the weight of the boxes decreased by around half.

A sweet, familiar voice spoke up beside him.

"Need any help?" Harumi smiled warmly at her boyfriend.

Lloyd returned the warm smile with one of his own as he nodded in comfort now that she was here, "Sure. Thanks again." He poured his heart out to her as they walked towards Kai and Cole who were just sitting beside the boxes Lloyd had brought out, "Honestly, I'm glad you're here. I don't think we would've made it without you. And I don't think any of this would even be happening if we listened to you. I'm sorry." He apologized, which was one of the things Rumi greatly disliked.

She scowled, "Stop." Lloyd turned to look at her as she softened her expression into a kind smile, "You always apologize for something that's not even your fault. You're too modest." She admitted bashfully, "And anyway, I enjoy accompanying you guys. Who knows? You guys might be repaying me the favor in the future." She joked.

"Heh. Might be true. But we'll see later," He glared at the ground and muttered, "If we ever get out of here." He added. He intended for Harumi to not hear that, but she somehow did.

"Hey." Her face showed a look filled with concern for the Green Ninja, "We will, Lloyd. I have faith that we will get out of here alive."

"I hope so..." That was the last thing he said before they made it to Kai and Cole. They both placed down the boxes and Lloyd said, "And that's the last of it."

"That's not good. Less than a day's supply of water." Kai fretted.

"And the ATV and the Dune Bounty are wrecked." Cole added while using a book as a fan to cool himself off, "And the Rock Cycle and the Jadesla aren't fast enough to outrun those beetles!" He exclaimed.

"Well, even if it could, it would only carry two of us." Kai winced.

Harumi placed a hand on her forehead as she shook her head, "Our situation is very unfortunate..."

"Maybe Nya could draw some water out of the air?" Lloyd tried instilling some hope.

They all looked around at the air around them. Harumi used her hand to fan herself before she uttered, "In this heat? Low humidity, Lloyd?"

"Yeah, I don't think so." Cole stated.

Then they all heard a clanking sound coming from behind them. Turning around, they saw Jay using his weapon, a golden kusarigama, to do something on a flat surface of a rock.

"Jay, what are you doing?" Kai asked.

"Carving a message on this rock," He turned around and stared at them in despair, "So people know who we are when they find our bo-ho-hones." He whined in a seemingly helpless way.

Lloyd stared at him with a blank face, "Can we try to be a little more optimistic, please?" He suggested.

Harumi almost instantly nodded at that statement, "I, really, second that."

"I'm afraid there's little cause for optimism." Zane said, walking towards them from the behind of the Land Bounty, "Our situation is dire. The Bounty's engine will not start without the Thermolytic Inverter."

The very complicated word confused Cole as he tried to repeat the word.

"The therma-what?" He questioned as Nya came up to them from behind.

"It is a critical engine component." Zane classified.

"Well, what's wrong with it?" Kai queried.

Zane responded by saying, "It is missing. I believe when Beohernie ripped through the hull-"

"Bernie." Jay cut him off. Zane gave him a look before continuing.

"He tore that component out and swallowed it." He finished.

"Swallowed it?!" Harumi's eyes went wide at that piece of information, "Okay, now that is just messed up. Metal does not taste good, and it isn't good for your health." She frowned.

"I do not believe that Beohernie-"

"Bernie." Jay cut Zane off again.

Zane sighed, "Cares about taste or health."

"Ugh. Well, that's just great! First, a giant beetle tries to eat us alive. Then, we smash into a pile of rocks. Or have any water!" Jay continued to ramble about the terrible things about their situation while walking away towards the edge of the rocks.

While he did that, the rest of the team were discussing to figure out what to do next.

"Can't we use the ATV's converter?"

Zane shook his head, "It was also damaged."

"What about the Rock Cycle's converter? Or the Jadesla's?"

"It isn't adequate for a vehicle the size of the Dune Bounty."

"Well, that's just fantastic!" Harumi crossed her arms.

Jay continued to walk away, kicking small rocks off of the platform, "That is the only thing we can say. Useless pile of-unh! Aw, this stinks!" He grunted in pain as he stubbed his toe on the rock he kicked. He started jumping up and down, trying to relieve the pain, when the ground started shaking. Feeling the separate slanted rock he was on slant even more, his survival instincts took over and he started trying to run up the rock, "No, no, no!"

He knew he would regret it but at this point, he didn't have much to lose about doing it. He turned around and was rewarded with a shriek to the face by the ancient, giant beetle known as Beohernie, but he called him Bernie.

The others were still busy talking and didn't notice Jay's situation until the Lightning Ninja screamed in panic. The rest of the team were instantly alerted as they ran to the scene where they saw Jay being dragged away by Beohernie.

"Jay!" Kai exclaimed.

"Are you kidding me?!" Harumi shouted.

"Help! Ahh!" Jay almost slipped off and he would've been done for if it wasn't for Lloyd grabbing his hand at the last possible moment.

Zane held on to Nya while she held on to Cole. And Cole held on to Kai whereas the Fire Ninja was hanging on to Harumi. And at the end of the chain, Harumi was hanging onto Lloyd.

"Hang on, Jay!" Lloyd yelled.

"Pull me in, pull me in!" Jay pleaded.

Lloyd tried to but shook his head, "I can't. He's too strong."

"How do you expect Lloyd to pull you in? It's not like he has super strength or anything that can beat a giant beetle!" Harumi spat out.

Lloyd gave her a brief look, "That sounds like an insult, but I think I'll take it as realism."

"It is realism, Lloyd! And you know that I would never purposely insult you without reason!" Harumi exclaimed.

Nya groaned in annoyance, "Can you two lovers argue over this later?! This is reeaally getting off of topic."

Kai turned his head around, "Cole, can you grab my shirt?"

"I think so." Cole did as told and grabbed the back of Kai's shirt.

"Take this!" The Fire Elemental shouted as he threw a ball of fire at Beohernie. As soon as the fire came in contact with the giant beetle, Beohernie retreated back into the sand.

"Did you see that?" Jay pointed out in fright, "He just tried to eat me!"

"We better keep off the sand." Lloyd declared.

"Oh, really?!" Jay commented.

"Sarcasm? Really, Jay?" Harumi raised a brow in slight amusement and annoyance at the same time.

Jay looked at her with a frown, "Oh, come on, Harumi!" He exclaimed, making her chuckle.

Since the incident, where Jay almost got eaten by Beohernie, happened in the evening, the sky soon turned dark as day turned into night. They gathered some wood and Kai lit up a fire to keep them from freezing to death at night time.

While sitting around the fire, they brainstormed for ideas.

Zane hummed as he voiced his thoughts, "I see only one option; The digestive system of a beetle is very slow. There is a good chance the Thermolytic Inverter is still intact inside Beohernie's stomach."

"Bernie." Jay interrupted for the gazillionth time.

Harumi decided to snap even though she knew it wouldn't do any good, "Please, stop it with the Bernie. Beohernie is not a typo!"

Ignoring Jay and Harumi, Nya asked, "What good does that do?"

"If one of us were to be ingested, we might be able to retrieve the device." Zane explained.

"Ingested?" Cole repeated in disgust.

"Ugh, don't put it like that, Zane." Harumi then gagged, "That's nauseating." She muttered.

"Uh, are you kidding?" Kai questioned since it sounded nuts, which it was.

"If we can get inside Beohernie's stomach-"

"Bernie." Jay interrupted, again.

"We should, in theory, be able to retrieve the Inverter and exit again." Zane then started to say the disturbing part. During this part, Jay's face was filled with horror and disgust, "Either through the creature's mouth or through the other end of the digestive-"

"Don't say it-!" Harumi was going to shout but got cut off by Jay.

"Lalalalalala, I don't wanna hear this!" He yelled.

"Yeah. Of all the bad ideas I've ever heard, and I've heard a few." Cole looked at Kai who frowned, "Lookin' at you, Kai, this takes the cake!"

"I agree. It sounds nuts." Nya concurred.

"The facts are indisputable. We need the Inverter. The Inverter is inside the beetle. Ergo, one of us must enter the beetle and retrieve it." Zane elucidated the very unfortunate scene of their situation.

"Hmm." Lloyd hummed in consideration. As the leader of the team, his vote, if it wasn't a dumb one, would most likely be worth more than everyone else's.

"Don't tell me you're considering this!" Jay asked whilst standing up.

"No, Lloyd. You've got to be pulling my leg if you're actually considering doing this idea!" Harumi almost begged for it to not be true.

"I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has one." Lloyd professed.

"How do we decide? Who gets to... you know, be-" Nya stopped midway.

"It was my idea." Zane spoke up, "The responsibility is mine."

"No. I'm the responsible one." Lloyd stood up.

Though Lloyd was her boyfriend, Harumi admitted that she was equally as worried for whoever was going. Heck, she'd prefer if she were the one to be ingested if it meant that her friends would live.

Kai then jumped into the conversation, "Guys, guys, you're both too valuable to risk. It should be someone expendable," A pause before Kai pointed at the blue-coded ninja, "Like Jay." He smiled innocently.

"WHAT?!" Jay cried out in shock.

"Well, look who's talking!"

"No, guys."

"I am naturally-"

Harumi tugged on her hair as she turned around to look away from the argument, "This is so immature!"

"Guys, guys!" Lloyd's voice made her turn around again, "We're going to settle this like adults."

When Lloyd said 'Settle this like adults', Harumi didn't think that it meant they were going to choose by doing rock, paper, clamp. But Lloyd's the leader so she just followed along.

They played a few rounds, deciding the person that wins will go on to the next round. Soon enough, only Zane and Nya were left. Both shot, Zane chose paper while Nya chose rock. Paper beats rock so Zane would be the one to get ingested.

For a person that knew he was about to be eaten, he looked surprisingly calm. Though he was a nindroid so it was probably why he wasn't panicked.

"I believe paper beats rock." Zane said. Seeing the worried looks on his friends' faces, he added, "Do not worry, my friends. Logically, I am the best choice. Being a nindroid, I am more difficult to digest and can survive longer inside a stomach."

"So long, buddy." Jay overdramatically hugged Zane, as if it would be the last time he ever saw his robot friend again.

Zane pushed Jay off of him, saying, "I have every intention of surviving, Jay."

"Sure you do, pal. Sure, you do." Jay frowned, sliding his hand down Zane's face in a dramatic way.

"You're really trying to make this as dramatic as possible, huh, Jay?" Harumi mused.

After deciding randomly that Zane was going inside Beohernie, everyone decided to get a goodnight's rest to start the plan tomorrow. That way, if they succeed, they'll be able to get to the Pyramid to start their quest even though escaping Beohernie by itself was already a tough challenge.

Because they had a limited supply of firewood, Kai wasn't able to make it big enough for everyone to sleep around. All they had was to cover themselves from the cold night air was just a decent-sized, semi-thick cloth. Two of them were a bit larger than the rest so Jay and Nya used one to sleep together, whereas Harumi and Lloyd used the other.

They slept in the position with Kai being first, followed by Cole, Harumi and Lloyd, Jay and Nya, and Zane in clockwise order. They drifted off to sleep pretty fast and tried to sleep well for the night. They decided to sleep outside and not inside the Dune Bounty because the Bounty wouldn't fit all of them sleeping inside. So to keep it fair, they just had a very uncomfortable sleepover outside, around the fire.

All was going well until Harumi struggled and shook in her sleep. Inside her dream, the same fire and ice nightmare was happening again.

She saw the top of a pyramid structure and soon, a giant black fire snake came out of the top and it slithered towards her. The fire serpentine lady was inside the Hangar Bay. She pointed her staff at Harumi while shouting.

"Revenge!" Then she shot a fireball at her again.

A few seconds later, the scenery changed into the ice theme again. The same ice castle from the past month. The same ice dragon appeared in front of her and flew straight into her, changing her vision into seeing herself stuck in a snowy environment.

Like always, Harumi woke up in a snap because of the nightmare. She gasped in fright as she got up into a seated position. She looked beside her and saw Lloyd still asleep. She slightly crouched down to his level and stroked his cheek with her fingers to which Lloyd responded by smiling.

Just seeing him smile made her smile and it slightly relieved her of her stress. Pulling away from Lloyd, she sat up again and buried her face into her knees, crying. She didn't like how she has been having all these nightmares ever since she wanted to return to the Monastery.

Others might think that she was just weak for crying over a silly nightmare, but in her view, it was torture to keep having the same nightmare over and over again, not even having a chance to get one peaceful night of sleep without having at least one of those nightmares.

As she was letting her emotions out, she didn't think that someone was actually awake. In less than a second, a familiar voice chimed in.

"Harumi?"

The white-blonde girl gasped, looking up from her crying fit. "Zane!" She wiped away the tears from her eyes.

He had a good look at her face and saw the tear streaks, "Were you crying?"

"N-No." She let out a sob, "I-I totally wasn't c-crying."

Zane's face was filled with worry as he smiled at her, "You don't have to lie to me. You are my friend, Harumi. You can be honest with me, I will not laugh at you for crying. Crying is an expression of distress, pain, and/or sorrow."

"In that case, yes, I was crying. Over a silly thing if you ask me though."

"If I may ask, what was the silly thing about?" He raised a brow.

She sighed, "Nothing. I'd rather not say." Zane nodded since she said that she'd prefer not to talk about it. She sniffed before changing the subject, "Anyway, what are you doing awake at this time?"

"I could not sleep. I had a... nightmare, you could say?" He explained honestly.

One of the pros of having a nindroid as a friend, they couldn't lie if their programming was to be honest.

"A nightmare?" Harumi repeated in confusion.

Zane nodded, "Yes. A very unusual one, at that."

"Funny, I also had an unusual nightmare..." She muttered, but Zane heard it.

"What about?" He asked.

"Fire. There was a lot of fire... And ice! An ice castle, an ice dragon, an ice man, and an ice lady. This's been going on for a month or two now." She sobbed.

"I've had the exact same nightmare for the past few days as well!"

"What?! Wait, but... what does this mean for us? Is there a reason both of us have this dream while the rest don't?"

"I still do not know if there is a meaning behind it, but I will try and find out while we're on this quest."

"I hope nothing crazy will happen again. Last thing I want is to have to go on a crazy adventure."

"But I believe that is what would get all of us back into shape."

"That's, unfortunately, true. Anyway, goodnight again, Zane." She laid back down on the ground and snuggled into Lloyd's chest.

"Goodnight, Harumi. Sleep well." Were Zane's last words before drifting off to sleep again.

Harumi had to be the most unfortunate person in the world. After that talk with Zane, she still had the nightmare, again. Another thing about these nightmares was the fact that they would happen repeatedly.

In the real world, she was actually tapping her hand on the rock floor and it made a clicking sound while she was still asleep. Jay heard it and eventually woke up because of it.

He groaned, "What is that sound?" He muttered.

Jay felt Nya move in her sleep, mumbling, "Just ignore it, Jay. Go back to sleep." She yawned.

Looking around one more time, he was about to fall asleep when he noticed Harumi shaking in her sleep. Being a caring and helpful friend, he got up from the blanket, making sure to wrap Nya in it first, before walking towards the Jade Ninja.

Crouching down to her level, he saw the visible tear streaks on her face and gasped. He guessed that she was having a nightmare. He remembered when he was young, his mother, Edna, would wake him up whenever he had a nightmare.

She would always comfort him until he was able to fall asleep again, making sure that he wouldn't have the nightmare again.

Following his mother's technique, he shook Harumi's shoulder and she started to stir awake. Soon enough, she jolted up from the ground and into a seated position. She looked at Jay with a scared look.

"Harumi, is something wrong?" He asked.

"N-No. Everything's fine, Jay."

"Mmm, that's not what it looks like to me." When she didn't respond, he added, "Come on, Harumi. You're like my little sister in the team. So as you older brother figure, I have a responsibility to comfort you in your times of need so... what's the problem here?"

Sighing in defeat, she decided to say, "Nightmare."

"A nightmare, huh? So I was right." He paused to think about what to do. He thought about what his mother did on the nights he had nightmares, then he got an idea. Helping Harumi get up on her feet, he led her into the Dune Bounty. "Follow me."

"Where are we going? You forget that Beohernie's still around here, Jay."

"I know. That's why we need to be quiet. So shh!"

When they came inside the Dune Bounty, she crossed her arms, "What is it, Jay? It's around midnight and I really want to go back to sleep-"

"But if you go back to sleep and you're still stressed, you'll have another nightmare." He smirked as he rummaged through the drawers, looking for something. "Come on, come on. Where is it?" Grabbing something out of the bin, he took it out, "Aha! Here it is."

He walked up to her and gave her the item. She looked at it, "A... book?"

"Not just any book, it's a family photo album. Just like PIXAL, I planned to give it to you on your birthday, but it looked like you needed it so, yeah. You like it?"

"Like it?" She frowned. But then pounced on him, "I love it, Jay! Thank you!"

He sighed and patted her back, "No problemo, Rumi." He set her back on the floor, "But you haven't seen the pictures yet."

"Oh, right." She then started to flip through the pages while Jay explained how he made the album.

"I started working on this ever since your coronation. I designed the book and PIXAL helped me actually create it. But for the photos, I worked hard on searching up on those. I found a bunch of photos from the Sons of Garmadons' defeat up until the Oni invasion. That filled up pretty much two-thirds of the book but... the real surprise is somewhere near the end of the album."

Harumi stopped midway to look at him, "Really? What is it?" She asked curiously.

He shrugged, "You can find out by yourself." He smirked.

Raising a brow, she started flipping through all the pages quickly. She saw a bunch of pictures of her and the Ninja team and Wu and PIXAL and a bunch of other friends. There were also lots of pictures of her and Lloyd at the start of the book.

She mentally said to herself that she had to be near the end of this book, but that was when she froze on the spot. Jay smiled in excitement to see her reaction.

Harumi slowly looked up from the book and at Jay, "J-Jay? H-How'd you get these? I thought these p-pictures were lost forever!" She sobbed uncontrollably.

"Eh. I took a lot of research but I managed." He smirked.

"I can't believe it." Her voice was barely over a whisper. "Thank you so much!"

She dropped the book and it fell on the floor. Jay and Harumi shared a sisterly/brotherly embrace and the pages of the book were wide open to reveal the pictures Harumi cried at.

A picture of her and her biological parents.

Harumi let the tears of joy out and it soaked the shoulder of Jay's gi. Jay didn't mind and just kept patting her back while trying to help her cease her crying by saying comforting words.

"It's alright, it's alright, Harumi. Let it all out. I've got you, I've got you. I'm right here for you, got it?"

"Y-Yeah! T-Thanks again, Jay."

"Any time, lil' sis."

"Thanks, big brother."

After Jay and Harumi were done with their special moment, they both stored the photo album back into the drawer and made sure it was safe. They both agreed to put it inside Harumi's bedroom as soon as they get back to the Monastery so that it would be safe.

When they were done with that, they went back to their separate beds and cuddled with their significant other to sleep. Harumi was relieved that Jay helped her that night, she thankfully didn't get the nightmare again.

Night turned into day fast and soon enough, they were all awake and were ready to start their plan. Though before that, Jay had a private talk with Nya while Harumi had a private talk with Lloyd.

"You and Harumi went inside the Land Bounty last night, right?" Nya asked and Jay nodded, "What were you two doing in there? Lloyd and I heard crying." She frowned in concern.

Jay bit his lip, "Oh, ya. I gave Harumi her birthday present early because she had a nightmare. And when I had nightmares, my mom would usually comfort me until I fell back asleep. And it worked, she woke up happily this morning." He smirked.

Nya sighed in pride, "You are such an amazing older brother figure to her." She held his cheek.

Jay placed his hand on top of hers, "I know. I got it from my mom, she and dad are amazing role models." Nya giggled and nodded at that.

Harumi and Lloyd watched Nya and Jay having a conversation before Lloyd spoke up, "So, what'd Jay give you last night?" He questioned.

"A photo album. It was filled with lots of memorable pictures. It included pictures of us, the team, and even me and my birth parents." She squealed.

"Whoa! How did Jay even get pictures of your family?"

"Who knows? He's Jay. Anyway, even though his gift had pictures of my parents and I, it still isn't as great as your gifts. I mean like, weapons made out of jade? That was really thoughtful of you to think of that."

"Thanks. But in my point of view, it feels like a vehicle and a photo album filled with your birth parents are much more valuable than weapons, Rumi."

"Don't say that, I don't care if you think that. In my eyes, anything you give me is valuable."

He lightly blushed, "Heh. You give me too much credit for things."

"You deserve it." She took his hand in hers and pulled him in to kiss his cheek. It lasted for a few seconds before she walked away.

He sighed dreamily and positioned a hand on the spot where she kissed him. Even though they've kissed lots of times, that type of kiss was special to them because it was in the exact same fashion as when they were in Strangler's Path.

After everyone had gathered up, they got ready to start their plan. They drilled the Rock Cycle into the ground and a rope that was attached to the Rock Cycle's wheel had its other end wrapped around Zane.

"Let's run through the plan again." Lloyd said.

"I bang the pot, drawing the creature's attention. He eats me. When I am in his stomach, I locate the Inverter, radio back, and you pull me out." Zane explained.

"Right." Lloyd nodded.

Jay whimpered before letting out a nervous chuckle, "What could possibly go wrong?"

Carefully and quietly, Zane walked out into the open sand, holding the pot and wrench. He looked around before banging the pot a couple of times. Everyone watched carefully, waiting for the creature to come.

A few seconds pass and Beohernie was nowhere in sight. Zane turned around to face the others, shrugging. But that was when the ground shook and the giant beetle rose up in front of Zane. At first, Zane gawked but then threw away the wrench and pot, letting Beohernie eat him easily.

As Beohernie dived down into the sand, he ate Zane in the process. Though that was the plan, it was still shocking to the rest of the team.

"Zane!"

"Oh no!"

"It ate him! It actually ate him!"

Everyone flipped their masks on so that they could hear Zane when he radioed back to them.

"Zane! Zane, can you hear me?" Nya asked.

"Hang on, Zane!" Cole exclaimed.

Holding onto her mask, Harumi shouted, "Zane, come in!"

"Maybe the sand is blocking the signal." Lloyd considered.

"Or he's being dissolved in stomach acid!" Jay whined.

"What do we do?" The rope then stopped and all they could do was wait for Zane to radio them.

Just like what happened to Harumi that night, Zane got the vision again.

He saw the top of a pyramid structure and a few seconds later, a giant black fire snake came out of the top and it slithered towards him. The fire serpentine lady, inside the Hangar Bay, pointed her staff at him while shouting.

"Revenge!" Then she shot a fireball at him.

Shortly afterward, the environment changed into the ice one. The same ice castle appeared. Then the same ice dragon appeared in front of him and flew straight into him, changing his vision into seeing herself stuck in a snowy area.

He woke up and found himself in Beohernie's stomach, "Oh my!" He stepped back and accidentally knocked something into the acid. He looked behind him and saw a skull floating in the liquid, "Perhaps, this wasn't a good idea."

Outside, the Ninja were growing even more concerned for their nindroid friend with every passing minute.

"This is crazy! How long has he been in there?" Jay flipped his hood off.

"Almost an hour." Nya answered.

"We gotta pull him out! Before it's too late!" Cole shouted.

"What if he needs more time to find the Inverter?" Lloyd asked.

"Lloyd's right." Kai said with determination.

"Right." Harumi nodded, "We gotta stick to the plan and wait for the signal."

No longer after she said that, a voice could be heard through the comms, "Hello? Can anyone hear me? Are you there?!"

"Zane!"

"You're alive!"

"Yeah, you're alive!"

"Good job, Zane!"

Nya interrupted their cheering, "Quiet, everyone! Quiet. Zane, we hear you. What's your situation?"

"I have retrieved the Inverter." He informed.

"That's great! Hang tight. We'll get you out of there, Zane." Nya smiled.

"Okay, guys. Let's reel him in." Cole got on his vehicle and started the engine, "Give it some gas!" Lloyd instructed, "Nice and easy! It's working!" But then the line started slowing down, "Keep going! Reel him in!"

"I'm trying, but Bernie's not making it easy. Come on. Come on!" Cole muttered.

"Just like reeling in a thousand-pound tuna!" Jay chuckled.

"But in this case, we're reeling in a thousand-pound beetle!" Harumi placed a hand in front of her mouth as the giant beetle started to come out of the sand.

"There he is! Look!" Lloyd exclaimed.

When Beohernie reached the surface, he jumped out of the sand and started to resist the pulling.

"We're going to burn out the engine! We're going to lose him!" Cole panicked but then the Rock Cycle started moving, "Whoa!"

Beohernie pulled on the rope and the vehicle started coming loose from the ground, "Cole!" The boys all jumped on the front of the vehicle to try and hold it down.

"He's too strong!" Cole yelled.

"Oh, I'm not losing anyone today!" Harumi shook her head and turned to look at Nya, "Nya! The line!" She pointed out.

"I'm on it!" She said as she tossed a line that held onto Cole's cycle, "Hold on!"

Everyone, with the exception of Cole, started pulling on the rope but Beohernie was also tugging on the rope, "Awe, he's gonna pull us in!" Cole frowned.

"Oh no, he won't!" Harumi shouted.

Just then, Beohernie tugged on the Rock Cycle again and Cole fell off, landing on the sand, "Whoa!"

"Cole!" Nya yelled.

"Oh, gosh." Harumi cursed under her breath.

"Lookout! Here come the other two!" Jay mentioned.

Looking up, Cole saw the beetles and he got up. He activated his lava arms and punched the ground, tossing one of them into the air. There was still one more but a blast of green energy struck it, "Got him!" Lloyd cheered as he flipped onto the ground.

Jay also slid down the line, "Ninja... Go!" He hit Beohernie with lightning. Beohernie shrieked and the rope snapped in half. Jay fell off and he was about to crash on the sand but Nya caught him in time, "Oh, thank you, Nya! I love you."

Harumi ran past them while shouting, "Save the lovey-dovey faces for later, lovebirds! First, we gotta make sure Zane makes it out safely!"

Jay flipped his hood off and frowned at Nya. She also flipped her hood off as she placed him back on the ground, "I know that look, Jay. And as much as I want to agree with you, making sure Zane is safe is our main priority right now."

He sighed and nodded, "You're right. Let's go!"

Kai ran up to Beohernie and struck blasts of fire at him, "Come on, Zane!" He kept shooting until Beohernie spat out Zane and a bunch of other miscellaneous items.

Everyone who still had their hoods on tossed them off as the items rained down on them. The guzzler hat landed on Cole's head while Jay was awarded with slime to the head. Lloyd and Harumi saw it and quietly chuckled at him.

Zane landed on the ground behind them and they all ran up to him.

"Zane! Are you okay?"

"Say something."

Zane responded by holding up the inverter to which everyone cheered at.

While Zane puts the inverter back in place, the others were loading up the smaller vehicles into the Dune Bounty. After that was done, Harumi gave Lloyd a victorious smirk, "I told you we were gonna make it."

Lloyd crossed his arms playfully and chuckled, "You've never been wrong so I was wrong to doubt you."

She smiled at him and said, "I love you, Lloyd."

He rolled his eyes in a playful manner, "I've said this over a million times already, Rumi. But I love you too." He smiled.

"Good." She nodded before pulling on his wrist, "Now come on, we gotta get out of here."

They all got in their seats as the three giant beetles were coming at them. Nya clicked a few buttons before saying, "Everyone ready?"

"Get us out of here." Lloyd ordered. Just as Nya drove the Bounty off of the rocks, the beetles were right on their tail, "Here they come!"

"Hold on, everyone. Here it goes." She activated the thrusters and they sped off, leaving Beohernie in the dust. The radar showed the three dots going out of range and everybody cheered at their victory.

"We made it!" Lloyd fist-bumped with Cole.

Jay jumped up and high-fived Zane, "Yeah!"

"Good job. Home free!" Kai applauded.

"That was one doozy of a mirage!" Jay joked.

"Oh, you think, Jay?" Harumi shot back, making everyone on board, including herself and Jay, laugh.
