Chapter 10: New Boy
Chapter 10: New Boy
In order for me and Sadie to prevent going to detention or a punishment even though a huge majority of students are in the boarding facility instead of a locals. Is still not a valid excuse to be late but instead Sadie decided to go to detention and I was flabbergasted? I really thought Sadie would take this advantage to give him a tour. I pounded my skull just listening to his name as I slammed my locker shut.
"His name doesn't even sound white or even British. "I muttered as Sadie stared at me wide-eyed. She furrowed her eyebrows and shrugged. I shook my head and fumbled with the tie on my blazer." Um, no. Names and surnames can help you identify which country or tribe you might be in and his name is not British nor Scottish sounding. "I said, crossing my arms as we strode passed the carpeted hallway. Creepy knight armors were lined on the hallway and the polished walls seemed to glow.
This part of the school gave me castle vibes as I shuddered. Dark green banners of gold eagles draped over the cabinets of gleaming trophies and portraits of principals and students were hanged on the walls.
"Why would you rather go to dentation. "I asked, cocking my head as we scrambled to our next class. "Well, is better than cleaning the hallway or serving lunch duty plus there are cute boys there. "She muttered, smiling. I rolled my eyes, climbed down the wooden stairs, and turned to a junction.
As Sadie and I parted ways, I was lost in my thoughts as I lumbered back into the senior section of the hallway but hit someone as they winced.
"Sorry. "I muttered, looking at him as a scowl climbed into my lips. He scratched his neck nervously and forced a laugh. "Hi, Noah. I'm Heather. We met in Literature class. "I shrugged. He nodded. I cleared my throat, "Dude, I literally spot you taking back those headphones. "I pointed at his chest as he sighed. His body stiffened. My eyebrows furrowed as we proceeded the tour and the most depressing thing is I have many things to catch up loosely after this giant waste of time. "Is important. "He chuckled darkly, his green eyes narrow.
Just to summarize how grand and expensive this school is. We passed through a giant looking Auditorium, the study hall, the high school library after climbing stairs, passing by numerous classes and hallways as my eyes darted aimlessly, and stared at clocks, I didn't want to be boring so I made jokes and tried to start conversations and finally the cafeteria for a late lunch.
"So what do you think? "I asked him while I stared at my food. He darted his head looking at his mates and he waved happily. He smiled at me showing his crooked teeth. "Is a fine looking school and very big. I wonder how much land they used. "He wondered out loud. I froze and picked my food. The fresh air, puffs of clouds drifting, birds chirping and screams of kids doing P.E outside at the field. "oh." I gasped. He stiffened and shrugged.
Tall maple and pine trees decorated the sidewalks as we sat outside in a bench as beams of light danced on the blades of grass as a looming shadow of a tall willow shaded us.
I pointed at a window and stammered," T-T-there is the cafeteria and this is the outdoor one. "He nodded as I pointed over ten two kilometre away. "Is the field and the basketball court. "My voice came out horse as I stared at the towering barbed wire fence that isolated us from the town and the woods. Then we trudged further, the cobblestoned road slowly turned to furry wet grass. I pointed down a slope. "Finally the pool. "I said shrugging, beads of cold sweat trickled down my head. "Wow is huge".
He exclaimed, his eyes wide with awe and concern as he nudged and jumped happily. "Is that an Olympic pool? "He pointed giddily flaring his arms like a Pidgeon. My shoulders sagged, "Honestly, I don't know? I'm also quite new. "I said crossing my arms as he took a bite of his baloney and mustard sandwich. Guys, trust me they are moan able. He laughed nervously, "Wait, you're new to. That doesn't make sense. I...I thought it was the welcome committee of a group of older students do the tours. For freshmen's and new students. "He muttered confusedly, starting at me like china. Small and delicate I felt out of breathe and nervous as my eyes stared at the hills, fields and the crossroads. "Are you sure this school isn't a university."He gasped loudly, darting his head as he stared at the second block of school and the basketball court ten metres from each other." Nope, is not. "I said chuckling. "Well, is not as big as Cambridge and Oxford University as a matter of fact. "He smiled proudly as I nodded.
"Are you guys allowed to leave the dorms or go into town? "Noah asked uncapping a can of sprite." Um, no. You need to ask permission or you can use the bus. "I pointed out as he nodded. I swear I heard him murmur under his breathe, 'so like any sane boarding school, yay' his sarcasm was alarming; He removed his headphones and tapped some buttons. "Sir, that's not allowed. "I muttered as he rolled his eyes as he gave me a look. He raised a brow and gulped.
"Did you steal it back? "I asked. He chuckled. "No shit Sherlock. "He muttered sarcastically.
"Um, how old are you? "I asked, I pinched my cuff and slapped my head. Heather, you really suck at conversations girl. His grinned. "I'm sixteen. "He drawled, "in London I'm literally an adult or I'll be writing my A levels or O levels. I finished my GESCE long ago now. "He said proudly but his face fell, "I'm going to be here for six weeks or more. "He continued. Cupping his hands to prevent the sun.
"Oh."
Think Heather think.
"So have you watch Harry potter or read the books? "I asked expectantly. "No, honestly, I've never heard of it but a lot of girls over here say I look a lot like George Wesley or even Ron. "He smiled slightly and placed his hands in his pockets. The bell rang as students from middle school spilled out into the hallway for their lunch.
I sighed heavily as we returned into the building overlocking the woods. Was the High School Boys dormitory as he checked his baggage and duffel bag next to the stairs. I gave him his timetable and smiled.
He snatched and stared at it internally as he clicked his tongue. His eyes were warm but strained and his breathing was hitched and ragged.
"I have Chemistry. "He said.
"Oh, I have science or the branch of it. Biology." I stammered. Why did I feel so nervous around a boy I just meet?
"I hope we can be good friends. "He beamed his hand relaxed on the wooden ledge of the double oak doors. I nodded feeling hot.
Friends. I wished he never said those painful words to me.

Loosely after it strikes four pm .The was a startling announce blaring after school. It was about the school's annual school trips and camping trips. Which in this case was purely educational and not recreational. It was mainly for High school and Middle school students as we all scrambled out of the class.
"...Every year this school organizes trips and competitions which is annoying. We have groups and trios picked out to go into the town if you're lucky. "Sadie concluded as she slammed her locker, rested her head on the cool metal and sighed heavily. The hallway was cramped as I packed my books into my bright bag.
"So, now we must go to either the administration office or to the bulletin board. "She pointed as students darted through the hallway, running to the bulletin board.
Some were laughing, fighting and arguing next to the lockers but it was hard as juniors and seniors blocking our views blocked us. Some of the seniors screamed and ballad their fist and picked on the freshmen's.
As the crowds thinned, we slowly scanned the papers pinned on the board. Sadie leaned in and sighed heavily. "I might as well be doing biology or even Fieldwork. "She shrugged. I patted her shoulders and spotted by name in a group with some familiar students and one peculiar one.
Guess, Noah Smith Franklin.
The British dude.
The seniors got economics and business, freshmen got accounting, and us we got the basics and a potential camping trip too.
Sadie's mouth went wide as she squealed as I groaned.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. He confidently strode and towered over Sadie as we darted his eyes and blinked.
"I think I might be in your group, too. "He clicked his tongue.
"Please student's kindly retreat to the study hall and to your various groups after dinner. "The secretary said in a singsong voice as we scrambled to the study hall.
