5 - A trip to some Clothing Store
At dinner time, I decide I should tell my parents about next week now so I don't forget.
"Mom, Dad and Lucas. Day 7 of... the fourth week of this month I have a doctor's appointment. From 14:30 to 16:30," I say.
"When did you learn this?" asks my mom.
"Today," I answer.
"Why are you telling us?" asks Lucas.
"Is there anything else we should know? Do we need to bring anything with? Do we need to be there at the same time as you? Are you sure we have to come with? Will this be on our holo-watches? Do you know the reason?" asks my dad.
"It will be on your holo-watch... Any extra details should be there, I guess. Dr. Jensen only told me when it is and that you all have to come with," I say.
"Why do we all have to go? You're the one who will be turning 13, not us," groans my brother Lucas.
My brother talks a lot, but not as much as my dad. Lucas talks more at home and with friends. Sometimes when he talks he can be a bit mean, so I guess it is good he doesn't talk as much around people who aren't his family or friends.
"I don't know why you have to come with. I didn't ask! The doctor just told me to bring my family with next week," I say.
"Do I have to go?" asks my brother.
"That is out of question! You are going if you want to or not! That doctor probably has her reasons for wanting us all to come. Maybe it has to do with your sister's growth. The doctor might need to do something that isn't recorded. It must be important. I don't want you coming up with excuses on that day 7 or the day before! I know that's what you will do. I want none of it!" shouts my dad.
"Your dad is right, Lucas. The doctor probably has her reasons. It could be something to do with your sister growing up. It also could be testing on us to see if we are healthy," says my mom.
Unlike my dad, my mom doesn't get angry as easily as my dad does. I like that about my mom. I spend more time with her because of this. I don't like to see her angry in the first place.
"I get it, I get it," says Lucas.
"I am done with dinner," I say after finishing my plate.
I take my utensils out of the utensil area on my plate. I do the same with my napkin. I put my glass, plate, utensils and napkin in a shoot where it will go to get cleaned.
Plates are a rectangle box that can be opened or closed on the top. Inside it there is a place for the food, utensils and napkin. The drink is put outside of it. It is useful if somebody will be eating a meal elsewhere, such as they are busy with work and need to eat while working. The only downside is the fact that there is no place for a beverage.
There is a place for a beverage, but you would have to but a different cup in it. It is a cup that is used for people who have to eat somewhere else so they don't spill their beverage while walking over there.
I walk up the stairs to my room. My room is the second door, while my parents is the first door and my brother is the third door. My brother is directly across from the bathroom. Next to the bathroom to the right is the stairs to the third floor. It doesn't have much, my parents keep their desks in there and charging is up there. At least that's where Lucas charges things. I used it up until the other day when I got my own. I would charge my laptop and phone up there. My old phone was a phone that I could only call my parents on. My brother still has that type of phone. Sometimes my mom worries a lot. I think she worries that we might fade away. I don't know why, as usually people fade away when they are old. It is very uncommon for a child to fade away.
I haven't always had the same room. Lucas and I switch every year or two. In between 1 and 2 years we are told to switch rooms. It happens to every child. Once you become an adult, you don't have to worry about that anymore.
I open the door to my room and flop onto my bed. There isn't much in it. It's pretty much my desk, chair, bed, charging station, and closet. Most people don't decorate their room, like me. There isn't much of a need for it. I've heard some people have gone crazy with pictures, though. It's just a rumor that was going around a long time ago. Recently there hasn't been that many rumors. I guess that is good, as with rumors you don't know what is true or not. Most of the rumors turn out to be false.
Right now I free time for an hour. After this I have family time.
The rest of the day goes by at its usual pace. Nothing exciting really happens.
The next day, I get a message from Lily and a call from Alexandra on her home's phone. They both call to say they can go clothes shopping. We decide on meeting at Lily's house.
I arrive at Lily's house minutes later. Alexandra hasn't arrived yet as she has to go farther than me. Unlike her, I just have to walk next door.
Lily's house is almost the same as mine. The difference is that not all of the furniture and decorations are the same on the second and third floors. Besides that, there isn't really any differences. Really, the only thing besides that is who lives in it. Now that I think about it, Lily's family different lamps on their first floor than my family. The only thing you can change about the first floor of the type of house I live in is the lamps.
The type of house I live in is a house for a family of 4. A family of 4 with 2 parents and 2 children-one girl, one boy-that is. This neighborhood is designed for that type of house as all the houses have the same layout.
"I wonder when Alexandra will get here," I say.
"Probably in the next ten minutes," says Lily
"Yeah," I say
Alexandra lives in the neighborhood, so she lives pretty close to me. This neighborhood has a total of 200 houses, more than some of the other neighborhoods. Having 4 kids is popular in this community.
This neighborhood has a lot of bus stops compared to others. Most of the other neighborhoods are smaller, so buses aren't needed as much.
One example of this is the apartment neighborhood. The neighborhood is made up of people who are living alone and married people who haven't been married long enough to get their own house. There would have been two neighborhoods with apartments-one for people living alone and another for married people who don't have their own house yet-but the neighborhoods would be too small. The people living alone are on one side and the married ones who don't have a house yet live on the other side. That's at least what I learned in class.
Another example is the neighborhood for people who have lost a family member. It, like the apartment neighborhood, is divided into sections. It has the least people of all the neighborhoods and has a lot of empty houses. The houses there are either for if a child faded away or a parent faded away. They both have similar layouts but are not the same. Since not many people fade away at a young age, it is natural for there to be a lot of empty houses. It does happen though.
The bus not far down the street from my house comes to a stop. The doors open and I see Alexandra come out.
"Maybe we should have waited at the bus stop and got on the bus with you," I say.
"That would probably have been a better idea, but we decided to meet at my house. I guess it can't be helped. We will have to wait for the next bus. We could do other things as we wait, such as talk," suggests Lily.
We decide to talk as we wait.
"Do you know of any of any other clothes shops with the latest trends?" asks Alexandra.
"No. I haven't heard about any other clothes shops with some of the latest trends. I'm sure there are some," Lily replies.
"I guess its fine... I haven't even seen the clothing store we are going to today yet," says Alexandra.
We continue talking as we wait for the bus to come. When the bus does come, we almost miss it. Luckily we make it in time.
"How did your appointment go, Alexandra?" I ask Alexandra once we have sat down in the bus.
"My doctor said I fit into law or health," she says.
"That's nice. My doctor said I fit into technology, expressive arts, or visual arts," I say.
"I fit into fashion," says Lily.
"Of course you do! If there's anyone here who keeps in style, it's you. I'm sure you will find something stylish at the clothes store," I say.
"Well... This shopping is more of for you two than me... I don't plan on buying much. I think it's the two of you that could need some new clothes. Something that you like, of course," says Lily.
"I've been needing new clothes. My current ones are small," I say.
"Well... I don't really wear that much of fashionable clothes. So I guess I need new ones," says Alexandra.
"Lily..." I say.
"What is it?" she answers.
"I've been wondering this for the past few seconds. What do you do with clothes that go out of fashion? Do you keep them or get rid of them?" I ask.
"If there is something that looks like it could go into style again, sure I will keep it. I don't always wear the latest trends though. The latest trends rarely change, so if something goes out of style I get rid of it. I don't want to reach my max for clothes that can be owned," she says.
"That makes sense," I say.
"You seem like the kind of person to only wear the latest fashion," says Alexandra.
"I agree. I would expect that you would only wear the latest fashions," I say.
"I do, pretty much. Sometimes I wear other clothes because they fit the occasion better," says Lily.
"I understand now," says Alexandra.
"Oh, there's the bus!" I say.
"We were waiting for a while," says Lily.
"I agree," says Alexandra.
We all board the bus once it comes to a stop.
While we are on the bus, we all talk more. We talk about things such as the latest fashions and our doctor appointments.
Once the bus comes to a stop and we are at the stop we want to get off at, we get off. We walk a little until we reach the store.
"It looks nice," I say.
"Is this the store?" Asks Alexandra.
"Yeah, it is," says Lily.
We walk in to find it looks just as cool on the inside as the outside.
"This does have the latest fashions!" Exclaims Lily.
"Most girls wear skirts these days. You can look in the skirts in Latest Fashions over there," says Lily.
"It seems like you know this store well already!" I exclaim.
"I've scanned the store... I see that there is a sign that says Latest Fashions... I also see that the skirts in Latest Fashions..." Says Lily.
"Are you trying to prove that that isn't impressive? Most people wouldn't do that in such a short time. I think you could have some sort of job that has to be done quickly or something like that," says Alexandra.
"Let's go look at skirts, Alexandra," I say.
Alexandra and I go over to look at the skirts. Soon Lily comes over and helps us finds skirts that look good on us and that we like.
I pick a few shorter skirts and some short sleeved t-shirts where the sleeves are very short. Alexandra picks some longer skirts and short sleeved t-shirts with sleeves slightly longer than the ones I picked.
While Alexandra and Lily are busy looking at some shirts, I sneak over to another section. There I pick a short sleeved t-shirt and shorts like the ones I am currently wearing. I don't know why but I just want some clothing like what I am wearing. I feel like I might want such clothes at some time.
I have so much fun with Alexandra and Lily that I don't realize how time flies.
Before I know it, I can hear the beeping of my holo-watch telling me that there is 15 minutes till the next thing on my schedule.
The holo-watch notifies everyone 15 minutes before the next thing on their holo-watch. Some people need more than that so they have a forgetful holo-watch.
"I have my job now, I have to go," I say.
"Going clothes shopping was fun. We should do it again sometime," says Alexandra.
"Yeah. Bye Alexandra. Bye Lily," I say.
"Bye Rin," says Alexandra.
"Bye Rin. See you soon," says Lily.
AN: So that was chapter umm... 5. It was shorter than the previous one, like I said it would be.
With this chapter I feel it is a little short, as my goal is at least 2400 words.
Also this chapter was delayed as I didn't get as far as I wanted to before my camp started. Then during camp I spent my free time doing other things ( I did work on the chapter a little). Then soon after I got back from camp I was on vacation. I worked on this chapter a little then too but I think I worked on it more while at camp. Anyways, here is chapter 5. Finally.
Chapter Word Count: 2207
Total word count up until this chapter(not including AN):11078
If your wondering I added the prologue after chapter 4.
If you see any mistakes, feel free to point them out.
