everyone was either scared or excited for the big event today. the amazing chase. nayoung stood in front of her mirror, combing her hair as she stared at her reflection. memories of what happened to her during the amazing chase flowed in her mind.

she flinched, feeling tears welling up at the corner of her eyes.

"are you okay?" heeyeon questioned her friend as she stood behind her.

nayoung took a deep breath, "i'm just... scared for weijung."

heeyeon placed an assuring hand on nayoung's shoulder, "let's just stick to mark's plan okay? we'll save her, she's family after all."

"that maze is dangerous, heeyeon! who knows what killer may do!"

heeyeon rubs her hand, comforting nayoung, "let's trust weijung. she'll know what to do."

"hopefully."

mark walked into the cafeteria as he met up with the rest of the dream team. their faces displayed different emotions as soon as he sat down. "where's weijung?" he asked, looking at them.

"she's with jaerin, preparing, she said." chenle responded. he couldn't sleep at all, none of them could. they were all too busy on worrying and predicting what could possibly happen to weijung inside that maze.

silence engulfed them until their phones rang a notification.

today's mission!

no more introductions
i'll get straight to the point
today's the big day
you know who's the key point

run, as fast as you can
will you able to escape this hell i have?
chains around your wrists and ankles
hands gripping tightly onto you
securing you underneath the thorns

a doll burning up in the books
roaring flames, dark smoke running up
eyes flashing emptiness
blood splattered in the wilderness

a blade swiftly against soft skin
red oozing out fast
slowly running out of time
must you get out in time

the amazing chase has begun for all
yet there is a special guess
the main target for killer to chase
however there would be no doctors in this

once target is found
the maze is locked for anyone around
a sacrifice will be made
in the middle of this huge maze

as the clock strikes three
i will have a shopping spree
the target is to find
for me to hunt and drag into my own mind

"shit." renjun cursed and stuffed his phone back into his pocket. "what game are you playing, better no be life or death, weijung..." he sighs, burying his face onto his hands.

"i don't even know anymore." donghyuck scoffed and pushed away his tray of food, "now i have no appetite to eat at all."

"is she gonna be alright?" heeyeon asked put loud, her breathing hitched as she thought about the amazing chase.

"she has three hours before the chase, she has time to calm herself if she wants to." mark shrugs, "i don't really want her to do this, but... i don't think i can stop her."

"let's just hope everything goes well, okay?" jaemin tried to lighten up the mood, "weijung can do this."

"the plan?" nayoung raises a brow.

"we're still going to do it right?" jisung mutters.

"of course, she's family, we shouldn't leave her behind." mark stated, "we learned a lot, she did too. it's like a thank you gift, for ending this game of life we're all playing."

chenle suddenly stood up, "i'm gonna go first..."

"where are you going to go?" donghyuck asked.

"talk to weijung..." he said softly, pressing his lips into a thin line before walking off.

he fishes out his phone, dialing for the girl's phone. "hello?" he felt his heart lightened upon hearing her voice.

"where are you?" he questioned, looking around the field.

"i'm up."

chenle furrowed his brows in confusion, "u-up?"

"you don't mean heav—"

"noooo! lele no! i mean... not ye—"

"nooooo! jungie no! i mean... i still have to ask you out and stuff..." chenle copies her, cheekiness evident in his tone.

he heard weijung stifle a laugh in the other line, "i'm at the rooftop we always eat at, come here."

chenle looks up and from a distance he sees the familiar girl sitting by the edge. "that girl, i swear–" he ran off.

he panted as he barged into the rooftop, "yah! you could fall from there, you know..."

weijung glances at him, smiling, "i know..."

chenle deadpanned and pulled her away from the edge, leading her to the bench.

"i'm here you know." chenle flinched as he saw jaerin leaning onto the railings.

jaerin smirks, "but i'll give you two some privacy."

"i'll just be out here, don't worry." she assured before closing the door to the rooftop.

the two sat in silence as they stared at each other. after a few minutes, chenle took a deep breath, "did you see the new article killer posted?"

weijung pursed her lips, "sounds scary doesn't it?"

chenle pouted, nudging her, "don't be like that!"

"what are you even doing here?" chenle questions.

"i came to look over the field... to get a view of the maze." she grinned and walked towards the railings, looking down at the field, seeing a clear view of the maze's structure.

there were definitely a lot of dead ends, she saw the bushes with a lot of thorns and that was the only way to the in and out of the huge maze, the main entrance. there wasn't an exit, only an entrance which makes things a lot more difficult.

no one really knew that except the chasers inside and probably some previous players.

"is it gonna help you if you see the structure of it?"

weijung nodded, looking at him, "i've already memorized it right here!" she smiles and points at the side of her head, "i may not be able to outrun killer, but i can outsmart her."

chenle sighs, "be careful in there... who knows what would happen."

weijung looks down, "do you want to know what would happen?"

"what?"

"i'll lose my self again..."

"what..."

"but it's okay!" she smiles again, "it's the only way to beat killer anyways."

"by losing your self?"

she shakes her head, "maybe that too, but by overcoming my loneliness."

"you have me now, weijung." chenle tells her and grabs her bandaged hand.

she looks at their hands as chenle slowly slips his fingers through hers, intertwining them together and holding it tightly, like he didn't want to let go.

"hold onto my hand. i promise, i won't let you go." chenle whispered softly, "i may won't be with you in that maze, but my touch lingering in your hands would."

"chenle..." she gaped at him, baffled at him.

chenle gives her a small smile, pulling her into a hug, "you have me. you have us. you don't have to be afraid, you're not alone anymore."

she felt tears trickling down her cheeks as she rested her head onto the boy's chest. chenle's free hand reached up to caress her head, slowly stroking it.

"chenle?"

"yes?"

"you are my light in this world full of darkness."

"it's not only me though.." chenle chuckled, "i'm not the only light you found. there are exactly ten lights you found."

weijung lets out a chuckle, "well, that's not false."

chenle lets to and stares into her eyes. they weren't bright enough. they still held that sense of loneliness. "you know... your eyes, they are beautiful. but other than beauty, there is something else i see in your eyes..." he trails off.

"what?"

"loneliness... pain..."

a snicker leaves her lips, "i guess so."

"i'll replace that then." he grins at the girl, leaning closer a bit, startling her.

"with what?" she mutters, getting flustered at his face up close to hers.

"love." he said simply before capturing her lips into his.

the girl felt her heart beat quicken as chenle pulled her close. her eyes slowly fluttered close as she enjoyed the moment. she was scared she wasn't able to feel this emotion she was feeling again.

love? friendship? happiness?

that sure is something else.

maybe that could lead her fully out of the darkness she was in.

the two parted as they stared at each others eyes.

"your eyes look lovely, now that's it's filled with light."
