"why did you want me to come with you?" donghyuck questions me as we walked deeper into the huge library.
i hummed in response, "because no one knows the school better than you do. taeyong and director kim trusts you with a lot of information, you know that."
donghyuck clears his throat, "well... mark and i were the first recruits, so it's expected that we know more."
"where did you say the door was?" i raised a brow as i looked through the hologram i implemented in my digital wristwatch.
"somewhere here..." he mumbles, pointing at the bookcases of the library.
"hmm... maybe there's something..." i mutter and look closely at the bookshelves.
"here!" donghyuck whisper shouted, "if i push this it would—" he cuts himself off as he pushes one of the bookshelves and it moves, sliding as it revealed an entrance to the hidden library.
i grinned in satisfaction, "nice! are you gonna come with me?"
he shakes his head, "i'll stay here, just incase. be careful."
i nod my head and slowly entered the hidden library. it was pretty old and deserted, there were dusts and cobwebs here and there. i coughed in the misty air as i looked around for a desk.
the place was a bit messy, like someone was in here before yet never bothered to clean up anything. some books were scattered everywhere, some were piled and stacked up.
after a few minutes of looking around, i came across with the desk i was searching for. i quickened my pace as i reached the desk, my hands tracing around the wooden figure.
dusting away the gray specks, i saw the carved words at the side. lee taeyong and mark lee was here. i smirked, he wasn't lying at all.
i crouched down to search in the drawers, a bunch of files were inside. i dug a few deeper and found the light green folder. "so this is the information about director kim." i chuckle and take it before leaving the place, meeting up with donghyuck.
"what are you going to do with that?"
"this is the exchange papers taeyong was telling me about. apparently, they found out about this a long time ago. around three years or more?" i said as we walked out of the library.
"what's it about?"
"it's about me." i told him as i watched his eyes widen.
"why would the school have... information about you?" he nearly chokes on air.
"this was around 2015 i think? i'm not sure, but it's around that time." i stated and flipped through the papers.
"see? this is all of my personal information." i muttered and showed him.
"i know, but why?"
"i told you, director kim has been keeping an eye on me even at my old school." i sighed.
donghyuck was silent for a while until he decided to speak up, "he thinks you can save the school... that's why..."
"exactly." the both of us froze at the new voice across us.
we lifted our heads up and saw director kim with an unfazed expression plastered on his face.
"i see you've found your file, weijung." director kim utters, jabbing his hand towards the green folder in my grasp.
i chuckled bitterly, "what do you even want from me?"
"it's simple. i want you to end the chain." he crosses his arms, stepping close to us and i felt donghyuck reaching to hold my free hand.
"you know that all of this is your fault right?" i spat.
director kim just stifled a laugh, "of course. the reason i made it because i was a failure. to be honest, sangkyun university didn't really agreed on letting you go for an exchange."
donghyuck blinked and looked at me, "then... you're not supposed to he here." he gasped and snapped his head back to director kim, "you dragged her into this mess! she could've been more happy!"
director kim pursed his lips, "more happy? i bet she found her happiness here though..."
i swallowed the lump in my throat, i can't argue with that being said.
"don't you get it, hyuck? you've showed her too much light, now she's scared of letting go."
"that's not true." i scoff. you're a liar lee weijung.
"don't lie to yourself, weijung."
donghyuck gripped tightly onto my hand, "don't talk to us." he glared at director kim before dragging me away.
"i'll keep you safe, don't worry..." donghyuck said softly as we walked out of the building.
"even if... the thought of you and i was just left as a thought..." he trails off catching me off guard.
i averted my gaze onto him, "what..."
he chuckles, scrunching his nose, "why can't you just get together with chenle! it's so frustrating!"
my mouth gaped and a snicker left my lips, "we still need to save the day, hyuck."
"i know!" he whines, "but, what if... what if..."
i shake my head, "we'll worry about the future when we get there. for now, let's just focus on this okay?"
"there you guys are!" renjun pants as he ran towards us, "where'd you go? did you get the file?" he asks and i nodded, presenting him the green folder.
"great! now, let's go!" renjun says and pulls us back to the booth.
"did you find it?" mark approaches us and i showed him the green folder as well. he smiles, "leave this with us, trust us."
i sneered, "what do you guys have in mind anyways?"
"it's a secret, xing weijung." jeno chuckles and stuck out his tongue at me. "we're doing this for you."
i scrunched my nose and crossed my arms in front of my chest, "what are you guys up to?"
"some good shit, weijung!" heeyeon grinned and patted my shoulder, "we got you."
"y'all are cute, but trust me, this is something i should face off alone."
"oh we know," nayoung says, "we're back up, right renjun?"
renjun nodded at her and grinned as well, "absolutely."
i don't know what in the world are they up to, but as long as they don't mess up the plan then we'll all be saved, or at least them.
hours passed and chenle walked with me to the catacomb entrance. "are you sure you want to go alone, jungie?" he asks me.
i gave him an assuring look, "i'll be fine, i've been down there for many times already."
chenle frowns, still not letting go of my hand, "don't leave me, please... not without even a proper goodbye."
my eyes softened as i pulled him into a hug, "i can't leave the people who showed me a reason to live, chenle."
he rested his head on top of mine as he ran his fingers through my hair, i then felt his lips softly touch my forehead, "you can't die yet, i haven't asked you out."
