FAIR, DAY 3
JULY 11, 2018
9:30 PM
3 r d p e r s o n s v i e w
the fair was still ongoing. the problem is, dream team was still confused on what killer's latest 'mission' was on about. from what the other's analyzed, the given poetic words weren't really formed to create another game, instead it was simple, despite it giving of an uncomfortable vibe.
after several minutes of reading the mission over and over again, renjun somehow concluded that it wasn't a mission at all. the words formed a clue, the words formed a warning.
this time, the play between life and death had just gotten worse.
the amazing chase's biggest day was on friday. the freaky friday.
however, this wasn't dream team's main concern right now. it was one of their members, more specifically, the new one.
it had been hours since weijung entered her workspace and it worried jaemin why she was taking so long. both chenle and jaemin were still at the club room as they finalized their paperwork, and yet weijung hasn't come out.
jaemin immediately sent a text to the remaining members at the booth, to inform them about what has been happening at the club room right now.
the boy couldn't help but bite his bottom lip, letting the anxious feeling drive him crazy.
the younger boy in the room noticed the sudden tension and raised his head to face jaemin, "hyung? are you okay?"
jaemin flinched at chenle's sudden voice and just waved it away, "yeah, this is... n-nothing. you don't have to worry." he faked a smile.
chenle kept the frown on his face, "i can tell that you're not just by hearing you speak."
"i was just surprised by killer's sudden text."
chenle scoffed lightly, "no, you're not. your expression looks worried. is it about weijung?"
jaemin sighed and nodded, "it's been hours since she's in her office... i'm starting to get worried."
chenle pressed his lips into a thin line. he, too, was actually getting worried about it, yet he chose to keep silent about it. the boy reached up to pat the older's back, calming him down a bit. "hey, maybe she's just... busy? you know how she is. always on her computers."
jaemin knew that. but still, he couldn't get over the fact he felt uneasy. something made him uneasy.
"okay, i guess so." jaemin lied and went back to working, glancing from time to time at the hallway. it was as if he was waiting for her to go out the room. but sadly, this continued on until donghyuck and renjun looked at each other.
they were at the booth, waiting for at least a respond. they had been texting and calling weijung. but the girl wasn't answering to any of them.
"how unfortunate.." jeno suddenly spoke up, earning renjun, donghyuck, and heeyeon's attention. "we only have juyu duo now... where's ju?" jeno tried to make up a joke.
heeyeon hissed at the boy and smacked his arm, causing jeno to yelp and send a glare to her direction. "you're making things worse!" she scolded, gesturing to renjun and donghyuck who now seemed horrified.
"i think we should go check on her." renjun's fingers kept twitching. he was itching to say that for awhile now.
donghyuck agreed quickly, "yeah i think we should."
mark overheard this and sighed, "alright, you two go and check up on her. i'm starting to get more worried."
donghyuck and renjun nodded and sprung up their seats, running as fast as their feet could take them to the club building. they raced themselves up the staircase and trudged towards the dream team's club room.
they unlocked the door and panted as they walked in. renjun's eyes landed on jaemin and chenle, as if saying, "how is she? where is she?"
jaemin noticed this and pointed at the hallway, "she hasn't walked out of the room since three."
donghyuck ran up to her workplace, knocking loudly on the door. "yah! lee weijung! xing weijung! weijung! jungie! jung-yah! ju-yah!" he tried calling her different names, yet no response.
renjun stood next to him, "have you tried opening it?"
donghyuck twisted the knob but it won't budge. it was locked.
"well, fuck." renjun cursed and ran into the the writer's office, where mark's workplace was located.
"what are you doing!?" donghyuck exclaimed as he watched renjun rummaging through one of the drawers.
"this is where mark told me he kept the keys."
"duplicates?" donghyuck lifted a brow as renjun nodded.
he searched for a familiar rose gold key and grinned up finding it. the two headed back in front of the door and unlocked it. hearing the door lock click made their eyes brighter. they looked at each other before pushing the door wide open.
they were shocked.
the room was dark.
very dark.
the other gadgets and computers weren't on, except the ones that were facing weijung right now. they could hear a fast sound of rapid clicking. here and there they would hear computer sounds which made them feel they were in some kind of digital world.
slowly, they approached weijung's main desk which were behind the dozens of computer screens. they walked around it and saw the girl.
seated on the swivel chair as she faced numerous of codes. her eyes flashed nothing but codes as she openly stared at the screens. looking up, down, left, and right from time to time. her eyes were scanning every screen as her fingers moved swiftly along the keys of the keyboard.
the two boys tried calling her, but it was line she was in her own little world of codes.
"is she okay?" donghyuck croaked out, nudging renjun.
renjun had this pained expression. something definitely happened with her.
"i-i don't know. i need to check the book." he murmured and ran off to grab the book from his desk. he flipped through the secret society book and the latest page was what he darted his eyes on.
┅┅┅┅┅ ☠︎ ┅┅┅┅┅
『 JOURNAL 2, SECRET SOCIETY 』
PAGE TWENTY-SEVEN
✏︎ the girl trapped in codes
。she's no better than anyone. she's like everyone else, yearning for something, longing for something. her eyes trapped in the midst of her codes. her true self hidden under that mask. but what is she known for? the greatest in the new generation. help is what she gives.
however, help is what she also needs.
┅┅┅┅┅ ☠︎ ┅┅┅┅┅
his eyes ran along the words. "oh no... weijung..." he frowned, his face dropping as he went back to see donghyuck still staring at weijung.
"what did you find?"
"...nothing." renjun mumbled.
"then how are we supposed to do this?" donghyuck said in a frustrated tone.
renjun sighed and slowly walked up to the girl. he placed a hand on her shoulder, only to flinch when her body felt cold. like life was taken out of her.
"weijung... stop... please."
"you're not alone in this."
"you have us. you always will."
what was going on in her head? it was a mess. her mind was all jumbled up. her mind was completely blank, yet she still had this will to keep on going.
what minyoung told her was all real, but she couldn't help but deny every word she said.
she knew.
she knew all along.
but she kept silent.
she lied.
"you can tell us anything." renjun tried to comfort her by making her realize that everything was going to be alright.
but weijung knew deep inside nothing will ever be the same again.
"i know who killer is."
the two boys flinched at her tone. it was cold and sad.
"i knew her the moment i had her death book. i noticed her when chenle almost got hurt. i notice her every time."
"t-then why didn't you say anything?" donghyuck stammered, his voice hardening as his brows knitted together.
"i couldn't. i had to wait for the right time, but now i was so sure... there is no right time." her voice was trembling.
"it's so dangerous... her game is twisted."
"i figured it out after she talked to me. there i got my answer."
