FAIR, DAY 3

i sigh as i stared at the wall clock in our headquarters. we both insisted them that we'll stay here until tomorrow, at first mark didn't want to allow us, neither did jaemin, jeno and donghyuck liked the sound of me and weijung being alone together.

jisung and chenle also didn't like it. nayoung and heeyeon, on the other hand, thought of it as an okay thing since we did needed to finish writing an article about jaena and jinri's case.

eventually, mark allowed the two of us staying, as long as we don't make a mess. "stop staring at the wall clock, it's getting weird." donghyuck exclaims, throwing his hands up in the air. and yes, he told donghyuck to stay as well.

"what are you two even planning?" donghyuck mumbles and grabbed his camera from his desk.

"we don't plan on doing anything." i shake my head.

donghyuck scoffs, "then why stay here? it's really unnecessary, you know."

weijung chuckles dryly, catching donghyuck's attention. "it's very necessary, hyuck. you have no idea."

donghyuck pouts, "why can't you just tell me what you're up to."

"we're up to nothing at all." i say, giving weijung a look before facing donghyuck again. donghyuck continued to face me and irritate me by using a cute baby voice and pouting. eventually, i got sick of it and decided to tell him. "alright! we'll tell you. but promise us, don't tell anyone."

donghyuck grins, "my lips are sealed."

"and are reserved for wei— uhh i mean... nothing." he mumbles, lightly scolding himself for almost saying something that he shouldn't.

i roll my eyes, "some unknown number texted us to go to the fountain at three, for there is another clue."

"the unknown said that only me and renjun should go, so we didn't bother telling." weijung sighs.

donghyuck nods, "i understand. how about you guys attach those little micro cameras on you? so that i don't have to go, but i'll still be able to monitor you guys, just a make sure you guys are okay."

weijung nods, liking his suggestion, "that's a great idea, hyuck!" she exclaims before dashing to her office to get those micro camera's she had.

"you must have a lot of those." i mumble, pointing at the little cameras that were kept in a clear container.

"they're a must need," weijung shrugs and grabs two. she took one and pinned it somewhere unnoticeable in her outfit.

i also took one and pinned it somewhere it would go most likely unseen. although it's already small enough to get unnoticeable, we still need to be extra cautious on where to put them.

weijung went back to her office, this time, coming out with her laptop. she placed it on the table and pulled donghyuck by his shirt. "listen carefully, cause i'm not gonna repeat this again."

donghyuck nods and listens carefully at the girl. she told him about a bunch of keys to press, just incase something really bad happens.

"it's two forty-five, we need to get there by three." weijung utters, pointing at clock.

"we should go now," i say and fixed my jacket.

"stay safe, please." donghyuck murmurs, patting weijung's head.

weijung chuckles dryly, "we're gonna be fine, hyuck." she assures, swatting his hand off her head.

"let's go, injun." weijung says before opening then door and stepping out.

a gush of cold wind blew pass us, shivers went down my spine as i took a deep breather. "geez, it's cold out." i mumble and grab her arm.

"what?" she eyes my hand.

"i don't want you to go anywhere."

"i'm not going anywhere, renjun. we're going there together, silly." she chuckles and tries to pry of my hand on her arm, but i refuse. "uhh? renjun?"

i shake my head side to side, "just stay by me, please. it's dangerous, it's dark, and there aren't any one out besides us right now, i don't want to loose you."

weijung chuckles lowly, "you won't loose me. we got this. you and me." she whispers and started walking, i followed closely behind her, looking around just in case.

"wish it was always this peaceful here." i utter while we walk out the main building.

weijung shakes her head in disagreement, "too peaceful, too disturbing."

"something so peaceful makes it feel like something terrible is going to happen soon." weijung frowns, "that's what i felt before."

"well, i'm glad the school doesn't shut the lights off at night." i say, quite relieved.

"probably because there are some people still awake." weijung shrugs.

we soon neared the fountain. only the sound of wind, trees rustling, and water splashes from the fountain could be heard. weijung carefully looks around, "i thought someone could've shown up, guess i thought wrong." she sighs and walks up close to the fountain.

"it's three-five, no signs of any person around, unfortunately." i say as i walk close to her.

weijung bends down a bit, picking up the paper taped onto the side of the fountain.

"glad to know this wasn't a scam again." weijung plainly says before showing the note to me.

"okay... what the hell?" i furrow my brows, squinting my eyes at the piece of paper.

"what the hell it is." weijung stifles a laugh and tries to understand the note.

"decode the code... what code?" i mumble and glance at the paper.

i was about to speak when i got interrupted by my phone buzzing. i quickly fished out my phone, only to find a text from donghyuck.

DONGHYUCK.
okay, you got the note,
now get the hell out of there.

DONGHYUCK.
i have a bad feeling something
might happen...

i close my phone and hurriedly stuff it back into my pocket. "that's all right? nothing more?" i ask to weijung.

weijung nods, "yeah, this is just it."

this time, i nod and grab her hand, "okay, now let's go before something bad happens."

we quickly head back to the main building. weijung suddenly takes a deep breath, "outside. it felt like we were being watched." she mouthed at me.

i knit my brows in confusion, not understand what she meant.

"someone... was watching..." she mouths before opening the club room door and pulling me inside before slamming the door close.

she finally releases a deep sigh. "we were being watched." she mutters and grabs her water bottle.

donghyuck crosses his arms, "no shit."

"i felt it, too." he says, "i saw something through the micro cam, something behind the trees moved, and! and! that something... seemed to be wearing something, metallic."

"here's the paper though." weijung grabs the piece of paper from her pocket, placing it on top of their table.

"it says decode the code, cool, but, what code?" donghyuck tilts his head.

"maybe it has something to do with the last clue and the numbers!"

i ran my fingers through my hair, "it could be," i agree to what weijung said.

"i'll be back!" weijung heads to her work area before grabbing the small box she kept for the notes and clues.

"there are like six clues, all with numbers..." donghyuck pointed out.

"i think there is a specific order though." i say, pointing at the different numbers.

"this was the last clue before the three-am clue." i then point to the small note.

"but, wait, are we gonna tell the others about this?" weijung questions all of the sudden.

i scrunch my nose a bit, "well, didn't they say the clues aren't for... everybody? or at least a certain someone shouldn't see the result."

weijung sighs, "you're right. this is gonna be tough."

"but, what if he err... she? is one of us?" donghyuck frowns.

"is it one of us?" weijung tilts her head and looks at me and donghyuck, we looked at each other and shrugged.

"why don't we make a seal?" i suggested. i'm pretty sure none of us right now was a traitor. donghyuck? he's weird, it's natural.

"since me and weijung are completely out of the ones who could be possible traitors since we are the solvers that killer keeps on bugging." i say, side glancing at donghyuck.

donghyuck nods, "sure! i'm fine with that."

weijung looks around for something sharp and places it on the table. "is this okay?" she asks, pointing at the small pocket knife.

"where'd you get that?" donghyuck tilts his head.

"i always have one, just incase," she replies.

i grab the pocket knife, taking a deep breath before slicing my left palm with it. i wince in pain, trying to ignore the fact that it really hurt. weijung grabbed a piece of paper and pointed at it. "what?" i look at her.

"press your palm so the bloody line gets imprinted on it, then put your name and sign it." weijung tells me and i do what she says.

after i sign mine, i turn to donghyuck, gesturing to give me his hand. donghyuck, without any hesitation, gave out his hand. i guess he really isn't a traitor. i slowly sliced his palm as i heard a small whimper coming out of his mouth.

"shit." donghyuck scrunches his nose in pain. he grabs the piece of paper, imprinting his cut next to mine then writing his name and signing it.

"i'm sorry i had to do this." i frown and grab her hand.

weijung chuckles softly, "it's okay, i've been in way much more pain than this."

"i relate." i mumble and turn over to her palm.

"see? feels like nothing." she utters before imprinting her cut. she grabs the pen and starts writing her name then signing above it.

"sealed!" i grinned and raised the paper.

i put down the paper, "so if any one us is actually the traitor... the traitor gets removed from dream team." i say.

weijung and donghyuck nodded, "okay."

"you know, we should seal this," donghyuck points at our palms, "before we start solving anything."

after wrapping some bandages around our palms, we finally could start on decoding this code that was given to us.

"you know," weijung starts off making us avert our attention to her. "the others are gonna be really suspicious as to why we all have bandages wrapped around our hands."

i press my lips into a thin line, "then we should probably make a good excuse?"

"leave me to it." donghyuck grins, raising his arm up high.

"don't say anything foolish when you do so," weijung chuckles.

donghyuck rolls his eyes and snickers, "yeah, sure."

"by the way," this time i start off my sentence. "once everything is over, we should probably have a milkshake celebration."

"damn i miss having milkshakes." donghyuck pouts, faking a crying voice.

"you just had one two days ago." weijung deadpans, "we literally get milkshakes every monday."

"yeah, it's to celebrate for surviving the freaky fridays." donghyuck says, "and it looks like the upcoming freaky friday would be more freakier than the past freak fridays!"

"what more for the future freaky fridays?"

i whine, "i just want to have a normal school life!"

donghyuck scoffs, "being in a normal school is quite boring, isn't this fun?"

"well, i guess nearly dying ain't fun at all, unless you want to die happy." donghyuck chuckles dryly.

weijung chuckles at his statement, "right."

i sigh at the two currently laughing their asses off. "i'm stuck with kids, my gosh." i purposely say out loud making them stop laughing and turn to glare at me.

"cute kids. i suppose." i roll my eyes, sending them a sheepish smile.

"whatever, huang."

"the thought of you and i was just left as a thought."
