10: "Justin looks like he beats people up for a living."
I went to bed that night not sure what to expect that morning.
I woke up in the morning with a strange feeling in my stomach. I figured that it was just nerves but that was proven to be the wrong assumption when I was about to leave and was forced to race to the bathroom. I threw up for two minutes straight. I wasn't sure what it was that made me throw up, but I knew I wasn't going to school.
I went to my room and changed into my pj's. I climbed back into bed and tried to settle in but just as I did the feeling came back and I had to run to the bathroom. When I went back to my room, my phone was going off. I looked at it and saw that I had two new messages one form Justin, and one from Cody. Both of them asking me if I was OK and if I was going to school. I texted them both back telling them I was fine and that I wasn't coming to school because I was sick. Neither of them texted back so I just figured they were in class.
I had that feeling again so I ran to the bath room. This time though nothing came out. I sighed and stood up I went to the sink and brushed my teeth. When I finished that, I went into the living room to watch some TV.
I went to sit on the couch when I heard what sounded like yelling out side.
Justin's POV
I got Elizabeth's text in second period. I figured I would go by her house after this class so I could see if she was OK. When the bell rang I walked out to the parking lot, but before I could get to my car I was stopped by Asia. "Hey Justin where are you going?"
"I'm not feeling good right now so I'm going to head home." I lied to her, slightly holding my stomach so it looks a little more believable.
"Awwww" she cooed, "Okay, well I'll see you around then." she gave me a hug and sent me on my way. I know that it may seem that she is being nice but that is only because as far as she knows I have nothing to do with Elizabeth. I sighed, at least she didn't kiss me again.
I went to my car and made my way over to Elizabeth's house. On the ride there, I couldn't think of the right words to tell her. I mean, what do I even say?
I'm not sure, but all I know right now is that I need to go talk to her.
When I pulled up to her house, I saw Cody walking up her drive way. I got out of my car and as I closed the door, he turned around. "What the hell are you doing here?" he said taking a step in my direction.
"I don't have to answer to you. Last time I checked, you weren't my father." I said getting pissed.
"Whatever," Cody scoffed, "I don't even know why you would show up, its not like she wants you here." He said rolling his eyes at me.
What kind of nerve does this guy think he has? Talking to me like that?
"Oh yeah, that's right because you know everything about her." I pushed back, feeling my face start to heat up from anger. The scene of Cody and Elizabeth kissing plays over and over in my head, making this situation worse. What is so different about Cody, why does she favor him more?
"I know that she doesn't like you," he said a smirk on his face.
I wanted to punch him right there, but I knew that I had to keep my cool, I need to talk to Elizabeth first. After that, then it would be game on. Then it slipped out, "If she doesn't like me as much as you say, then how come she kissed me yesterday, after she told me she didn't like you like that."
Cody was pissed now, I could see it in his eyes. His fists clenched and his jaw tightened.
"I believe her exact words were, 'I only feel that way about you'." I continued, letting go of everything I had to say, no holding back. If Cody ever thought she had a chance at a girl like Elizabeth, then he needs a reality check. He doesn't deserve someone like Elizabeth. Hell, I don't even deserve someone like Elizabeth.
"Maybe she did kiss you, but last time I checked I was the one who she was kissing at school."
"Yeah?" I rolled my eyes at him. "Well from what she said, you kissed her she didn't kiss you."
At this point, we were both yelling now.
"Yeah at least she kissed back." He yelled, walking closer to me. He was in my face now, and I was ready to punch him. My fist was balled and I glared at Cody with hatred in my eyes. I was ready to hit him in that mouth that couldn't stop running.
Elizabeth's POV
I opened the front door and saw Justin and Cody standing face to face, both looking like they wanted to kill each other... Why were they even here?
Just as Justin's fist clenched, I ran to them. I had to stop it before it went too far. I pushed them apart and looked at both of them.
"What the hell are you guys doing here?" I said looking at both of them. I placed my hand on Justin's chest, trying to get him to calm down.
"I came to make sure you were OK," he said taking my arms in his hands as I looked at him. "I got your text and I wanted to make sure nothing happened to you."
"Thank you," I said stepping back, looking at Cody as well, "Both of you should be in school though." I said looking at Cody who seemed mad.
"See I told you, she didn't want you here," Cody said stepping closer to Justin.
"Dude you're a dumb ass, she wants both of us to leave not just me," Justin stepped around me and was in Cody's face again. I placed my hand on his shoulder to try and pull him away. I pulled him back and he looked at me with concern.
Trying to look up at him, I started to feel dizzy. I felt my legs give out and I fell forward.
Justin's POV
Cody and I were standing face to face both of us waiting for the other to make a move. I felt Elizabeth's hand on my shoulder and I knew she was trying to pull me back, trying to separate us. I turned to look at her remembering that she was sick.
She looked like she was going to pass out and when she lost her balance and fell forward, I knew I was right. I caught her in my arms and tried to carry her bridal style to her front door.
"Give her to me," Cody said, trying to take her from me almost making me drop her in the process.
"No, you don't even know where her room is," I said pulling her back and going into her house.
"You don't know what I know. You don't know what went on between us these past two weeks." Cody said, I could practically feel his smirk in that sentence. He was right, I didn't know what happened. From from what I saw in the school halls, I couldnt be sure that more didn't happen, especially if she was alone with him in her room.
I shuttered at the thought of anyone doing anything sexual to Elizabeth. I continued on to her room, placing her gently on her bed. I sat next to her pushing her hair out of her face. Cody was leaning against the doorframe, not doing anything but watching. "If you insist on being here then at least go get a glass of ice water and a small dish cloth from the kitchen." I said turning back to Elizabeth, she was burning up.
Cody scoffed and left the room. He came back a minute later with the wash cloth and cold glass of water. I put some water on the cloth and started to dab her face with it. I couldn't get what he said out of my head, what had happened between them? I figured it would be less awkward for me to ask Cody than it would be for me to ask Elizabeth, "So what did happen between you two?"
"I think you should let her tell you what she did," he said nodding his head in her direction. I sighed and went back to trying to cool her down. I tried to not think about their encounter any further, the only thing that mattered right now was Elizabeth in my arms. After a few minutes of silence, Cody's phone went off and he answered it with a strange look on his face. "Hey... yeah... yes... OK, OK... alright ill be there soon.. yeah OK bye," he hung up the phone and looked up at Elizabeth, his eyes not leaving her as he says, "I have to head home. Could you tell her that I'm sorry I couldn't stay, and please call me when she wakes up?"
"Yeah OK I will," I said calmly. I didn't like him anymore, but when I saw him earlier he really sounded like he cared about her so I couldn't be too mean. I knew Elizabeth wouldn't want me to be mean to someone, let alone someone in her own room. He turned on his heels and went out of the room. I sighed and turned my head back to Elizabeth. Even when she's sick, she looks so beautiful. I continued to dab her face with the damp cloth, humming one of my songs lightly.
Elizabeth doesn't know I write music, not even Ryan or Chaz. It's something I do by myself, when I feel safe and alone.
"Across the ocean, across the sea..." I started singing, running my fingers through Elizabeth's hair.
"Startin' to forget the way you look at me now.
Over the mountains, across the sky
Need to see your face
I need to look in your eyes.
Through the storm and through the clouds
Bumps in the road and upside down now
I know it's hard babe, to sleep at night
Don't you worry
'Cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Through the sorrow
And the fights
Don't you worry
'Cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
All alone, in my room
Waiting for your phone call to come soon
And for you, oh, I would walk a thousand miles
To be in your arms, holding my heart."
"Oh I
Oh I
I love you" I whisper, looking at the most beautiful girl in front of me.
"And everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Through the long nights
And the bright lights
Don't you worry
'Cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-ai-ai-a'ight
You know that I care for you
I'll always be there for you
I promise I'll just stay right here, yeah
I know that you want me to
Baby, we can make it through, anything
'Cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-a'ight
Through the sorrow and the fights
Don't you worry, 'cause everything's gonna be alright, ai-a'ight
Be alright, ai-a'ight
Through the sorrow and the fights
Don't you worry, cause everything's gonna be alright" my voice slowly trailing away...
Elizabeth's POV
I felt really hot but at the same time I could feel something cold on my face. There was light humming somewhere next to me but I couldn't place who it would be. I can't completely remember what happened.
I tried to push my eye lids open but they were heavy. I tried again, this time trying with everything I had. When they were finally open, I found out where the humming was coming from. Justin was sitting next to me on my bed with a small dish cloth in his hands, dabbing my face which is where the cold sensation was coming from.
I smiled a little at him as he realized I was awake. I tried to sit up a little finding it a little hard my body was weak and I could barely move my arms. "What happened?" I asked my voice barely a whisper.
"You passed out when we were outside. I brought you inside," he answered placing the cloth next to a glass of water on my night stand.
That's when it came back to me. Cody and Justin had been fighting outside and I was trying to stop them, but if Justin was here, where was Cody? Im a little worried that they may have gotten into another fight while I was out, or worse.
Nothing against Cody, I just don't think he has a chance against Justin, Justin looks like he beats people up for a living. "Where is Cody?" I asked, my voice a little louder and laced with concern.
Justin's smile pulled into a frown, "He said that he had to go home, I'm not sure why but he told me to tell you that he is sorry he couldn't stay." He seems a little confused as to why I would ask about him.
"Oh OK," I said sliding back against the propped up pillows, probably something Justin did for me.
"Have you eaten anything today?" Justin questioned.
"No," I said simply.
"Well, I'm going to make you some soup or something then, OK?" He said, running the back of his neck.
"That's very sweet of you, thank you Justin," I said with a smiled. I nodded, he placed his lips on my forehead before quietly heading out of the room.
Justin's POV
I walked to the kitchen in search of some soup locating a can of chicken noodle in the pantry. I quickly opened the can placing it into a bowl. I put the bowl into the microwave and pulled out my phone to wait for the time.
I scrolled through my contacts, soon locating the one that unfortunately I had. Pressing call, I held my phone to my ear. "Hello?"
"Cody hey, its Justin. I just called to let you know she woke up."
"OK thank you," Cody said, followed by what sounded like a door opening and closing. "I got to go thanks, I'll go see her later maybe."
"Yeah sure, bye," the line fell dead and I put my phone back into my pocket.
If he was going to be here later, then I definitely wasn't going to leave. I couldn't leave her alone with him. I took the bowl and a spoon and headed back into her room.
Cody's POV
My phone rang in my pocket and I answered it without getting a proper look at the caller ID.
"Hello?" I asked the person on the other end.
"Cody, it's Justin. I just called to let you know she woke up," his voice came out genuine but I could tell he really didn't like me.
"OK thank you," I said turning away from the door as I already knew who it was, "I got to go ill go see her later maybe."
"OK yeah sure bye," with that I hung up turning around to face the person who had came in. "He's with her now."
