Chapter Thirty-One
After a second, I hear metal clinking together and see the door knob moving just before Taehyung appears in front of me. Thankfully he looks fully dressed, not sweaty and his hair was still perfectly coiffed but that still doesn't excuse who may be inside with him.
He looks at me with a disheartened expression across his face as he reaches out for my hand. I yank it back as I proceed to walk through the door, pushing him aside with my body as I go in.
I see a pretty young woman with long blonde hair pulled into a ponytail and smiling sheepishly with her hands folded together in front of her. I notice a small round table covered with a white tablecloth and two long lit candlesticks strategically placed with glasses on either side and an ice bucket in the middle with what appears to be a wine bottle. On either side of the table are two silver platters with the lid still on.
I'm just about to curse him out when I spot the name tag neatly placed on the right side of her shirt.
She's hotel staff.
He wasn't thinking about cheating, he was just surprising me with dinner.
"Will that be all you need?" She asks when I don't say anything else for a while.
"Yes. Thank you for your help." Taehyung tips her and bows before she leaves out.
I turn to look at him and he smiles at me. He grabs my still shaking hands and wraps them around his neck while placing his around my lower back.
"I was planning on doing so much more, but you came back early. I heard your tone of voice with me. Did you think I was cheating or something?" He pulls me in closer to his body.
I feel stupid but at the same time, he had another female in a hotel room with him while I was supposed to be at work. Who wouldn't think that way?
I look up at him through my lashes and nod bashfully before averting my attention elsewhere.
"What happened to not assuming the worst before hearing each other out?" He echoed my previous words to him.
"I know. I...I just had a day today and I guess I was a little in my head." I muttered.
He steps back, grabbing my hands as he bends his knees to lock eyes with mine. A look of confusion and worry on his face.
"You seemed happy when I left this afternoon. Did something happen? Was it Lucas?" He inquired as my face lifts to look at him.
I sigh with my eyes closed before responding. I know saying something won't help the already uneasy feeling he has towards my coworker but after what Lucas told me today, I know Taehyung was valid in his feelings towards him.
"In a nut shell, Lucas told me that you're going to hurt me one day and that he wants to be the one I run to. He's attracted to me and even though I told him off, I don't think he's going to stop flirting with me." I explain as I watch Taehyung's expression grow more and more angry.
"He said all of that the day he met me? Knowing for sure now that you're taken and that I'm still around. Wow...he's more bold than I gave him credit for." He fumed as he thinks about the encounter I must have had.
"And so basically when you came to the hotel and heard the staff in here, you thought the worst because of what he said?" He continues as his eyes now pierce through me.
I nod.
"Even though I've done nothing to prove any disloyalty to you, you let that arrogant bastard sway your thoughts about me?" He questions again and with the sharpness in his tone, I suddenly realize that I'm being scolded.
I reach out to wrap my arms around his neck again but he steps back from me. I feel a crack in my heart beginning to slice through my chest as I look at his disappointed face.
"I'm sorry. I do trust you. I just...I didn't know what to think when I heard another female's voice and I know I shouldn't have let him in my head but I do worry. I know how much of a catch you are and I worry about losing you." I explain as I watch him listening to every word I say.
"Just like how you worry about losing me." I emphasize to prove my point that it's not just me who has these fears.
He nods and takes a deep breath before turning to sit down at the table and gestures for me to do the same.
"Let's make some promises to help us both out. Especially with us being in a temporary long distance relationship. One, I won't have another girl in a hotel, at home or behind closed doors without you knowing first so that there's no worry there. No matter who that girl is." He begins as he removes the cork from the wine bottle and starts pouring some in my glass.
"I won't let other people determine how I think or feel about our relationship." I smile as I unfold my cloth napkin and place it in my lap.
"I won't get so jealous and overprotective when it comes to you and other guys...or even girls because I'm still wondering if Madison plans on making a move on you." He jokes.
I giggle and remove the lid from the silver platter to see a juicy steak and potatoes with grilled asparagus placed neatly upon the plate. Garnish lays on top of the meat as decoration.
"I won't always think you'll leave me for someone else and I will start trying to see myself for how you see me." I add as I reach for my fork but he grabs my hand to stop me.
I look up at him confused and see that he, too, has a confused expression as his brow furrowed and his head slightly tilts to the side.
"Do you not realize how beautiful, smart and amazing you are? You're not the lucky one. I am." He grabs my hand a bit tighter and runs his thumb over my ring.
I blush and lower my head. I've never seen myself as beautiful. Pretty, sure but not beautiful. Amazing? Hardly. But knowing he thinks all of these things about me makes me aware that I don't care if anyone else thinks that way. Just knowing he sees me in that light makes me want to be good for him.
"Thank you for getting dinner for us. This sure beats takeout again." I do my best to take the attention off of myself.
He smirks and releases my hand to remove his lid as well.
"You worked today. You deserve a good meal." He smiles and begins to cut into his medium cooked steak.
"One day I'll be able to cook dinner for you when you get home from work." I mention as I take a bite of my food.
My eyes grow wide at the sudden burst of flavor. I'm not sure if this meal came from the hotel but if it did, I might just have to come back simply for the food.
"I'd love that." He smiles and gives me a wink.
I know we're young and anything could happen between now and then but making future plans together makes me feel loved more than anything else. That this man sitting before me not only planned out dinner for me tonight in advance, but is planning a life with me.
The next morning and due to the events of Lucas's declaration yesterday, Taehyung decides to take me to work and stick around all day. He mentioned it to me when my alarm went off like I was going to argue with him about it but I'm happily welcoming his presence. Not only was I going to be able to spend more time with him while he's back in the states but at least Lucas may keep his distance from me for now. Hell, maybe he'll take the hint.
Since I wasn't running late this morning, Taehyung and I are the first to enter the gallery with the security guard for the day not far behind us.
Taehyung finds a seat in the office in the corner to be out of the way while I get settled in and begin going through some paperwork.
Mostly it's just logs of the artwork and future things coming in. I look up to him sitting calmly in the black leather chair, manspreading and just looking through his phone but damn he looks hot just doing normal every day activities.
I clear my throat and try to focus on the words on the paper in front of me until I hear him chuckle.
"What?" I ask nonchalantly as if I hadn't just been mentally drooling over him.
"Is me being here a distraction?" He asks with a smirk curling at the corner of his mouth but his eyes not leaving his cell phone screen.
"I don't know what you mean." I flip to the next page in the stack.
"You were just staring at me. You think I don't notice you doing that but I do. Every time you do it." He places his cell phone in his lap and runs his teeth over his bottom lip.
"I'm good!" My voice is a tad bit higher than I expected and I squeeze my thighs together.
Freaking hormones!
He shakes his head with a wide smile, his eyes going into those adorable slits as he picks his phone back up.
"Good morning, Ava! You look beautiful today. I like your hair like that." Lucas croons standing in the doorway to the office.
I didn't even hear him come in but before I could respond, Taehyung clears his throat and stands up. His hands are in his pockets and his chin is lifted. His eyes burn through him and I know he's doing all he can to hold back his anger at my job.
"Oh, hey man. I didn't see you there. Sticking around today?" Lucas asks like he wasn't just blatantly flirting with me.
Taehyung doesn't respond. He just stands there staring at him and I don't blame him. He just disrespected not only me by continuing to flirt after I've told him not to on many occasions but he also disrespected Taehyung by acting like he didn't just do it in front of him.
Lucas turns to me with his eyebrow raised, his eyes flitting between the two of us.
"Does he not understand English that well? Can you ask him if he's staying all day?" Lucas asks placing his hands in the pockets of his slacks as well.
"I understand you perfectly." Taehyung pipes up.
My eyes go in between the two as if I'm watching some kind of televised drama. All I need is a bowl of popcorn and some corny music playing in the background.
Lucas nods, "so...are you?"
"Maybe. Why?" Taehyung shrugs.
"Just asking, my man." Lucas holds out his fist to touch Taehyung's but once again he doesn't accept.
"I know what you said to her yesterday and I heard you a moment ago. I also know she has asked you repeatedly to stop flirting with her." Taehyung pulls his hands out of his pockets and cracks his knuckles.
I jump up and go to stand in front of him. I've seen Taehyung hit Alex and that alone was something serious to witness. If we weren't at work, I honestly wouldn't get in the way but the gallery is under my supervision this week and I know I can't afford to pay for anything around here.
He looks down at me and gauges my worried expression and he visibly relaxes with my silent plea to calm down. He softly smiles and kisses my forehead before turning to sit back down.
I look back at Lucas, my eyes squinted and my brow furrowed as I forcefully hand him a list of duties he needs to take care of. He huffs out a chuckle and grabs the paper from my hands before leaving out and shutting the door behind him.
"Are you good?" I inquire as I see him hunched over with his elbows resting on his knees.
He nods and sits back, running his hands through his hair. He glances back at the door to see it's still shut and holds his arms out for me to come to him.
"You know, what makes it even worse is knowing he's right. You do look beautiful today." He wraps his hand around the back of my neck to pull me down to his mouth.
He leaves me a slow, sweet kiss upon my eager lips. I can tell he wants more by the way lingers for a second and forces himself to pull away.
"You know I don't ever want to hurt you, right?" He looks right at me with his big, beautiful eyes.
I nod, "I know baby."
Hours later, and thankfully no drama, the shipment arrives and Lucas and I are rearranging the pieces over and over while Taehyung sits back and observes us working. I glance back to him occasionally but he seems calm and Lucas is being nothing but professional. However, something tells me it's only because Taehyung is around and it makes me wonder how he'll be once he goes back to school next week.
"Okay! I think we got it. What do you think?" Lucas asks stepping back to look at the arrangement.
"I think so!" I exclaim with a wide smile and look back to Taehyung. "What do you think babe?"
"It looks great. When do you have to hang them?" He asks.
"Friday morning." I state as I pull out my phone to snap pictures of the layout.
After the last picture I realize it's now lunchtime and I go grab my purse from the office before locking everything up.
Lucas walks in right after me to grab his keys. As I'm turning to leave out, he grabs my arm and gently pulls me back in his direction. The unsteadiness of my heels keeping me from staying firmly planted in my spot on the floor, even though I did not want to move.
"I didn't mean to cause any tension between you and your boyfriend. I just had to let you know. I like you...a lot." He says with his hand still on my arm.
I maneuver out of his grip, "you didn't cause any tension between us. But you knew that flirting and saying those things would be overstepping."
He nods, "I know and I'm sorry. I promise to be on my best behavior and keep my thoughts and feelings to myself from now on. But...can I ask you one thing?"
"What Lucas?" I sigh and roll my eyes.
"If you were single, would I have a chance?" He asks calmly.
I shake my head.
"Honestly? No. I didn't do relationships before Taehyung and he's it for me so don't get your hopes up too high." I readjust my purse and walk we out of the office and see Taehyung leaned up against the wall next to the door.
"Did you hear all of that?" I ask as we sit down in the car.
He nods, "I did."
I look at him expectantly. I know there's more going on in that brain of his than he's letting me know right now.
He puts the car in reverse and proceeds to head to a nearby restaurant next to the mall. His facial expression wasn't mad or even sad. It was just blank. Which, of course, confused me even more.
"I'm not mad." He states after a few minutes. "I just realize that I'm going to have to always put my best foot forward."
"What do you mean?" I ask curiously as I grab his hand.
"If I don't, I might lose you one day." His eyes stay on the road ahead as if he's purposely not trying to look at me.
"Do you think I like him or something? Because I definitely don't." I grip onto his hand a bit tighter.
"I don't, but it made me realize that someone could come along who you might end up getting feelings for or may be better than me and I won't be around to keep your attention."
My brow furrows and I release his hand. How could he think that my feelings could just switch up so easily? That all of what we have and shared just suddenly wouldn't matter? It would always matter to me. And who the hell would be better than him?
Then I remembered how his ex-girlfriend did that very thing and his worry is all stemming from past hurt. Unlike mine which is just stemming from my own unrooted anxieties.
When I moved away from him as he spoke, I saw him slightly grimace at the loss of my touch and that movement alone just reaffirmed him that he could lose me. I didn't think about my actions in that moment only my own selfish thoughts.
It's crazy how as you're moving into adulthood, little things mature you. How you become aware that the smallest words or actions you do can mean so much. Today, I learned that with love, I sometimes need to step out of my own head and think deeper into why someone may be acting a certain way or saying certain things.
We pull up to the parking lot and the moment he puts the car in park, I lean into him and he reflexively turns to face me. I take a beat to look into his eyes, my lips just centimeters from his before I slowly kiss him. Deep and meaningful, our lips move together to once again let him say what he didn't know how to. That he's still a bit damaged from his past and he needs me to help heal him. Sometimes he's so dominant and assertive that I forget that he's just a fragile human being like the rest of us. He took a chance on me like I did with him and I am willing to reassure him as many times as he needs that I'm his.
Forever his.
He runs his fingers through my hair to grab the back of my head and pull me closer to him, a small moan escaping from his throat as he deepens the kiss even more and my hands cup his face.
"Jagi," he interjected through a whisper, "I need you."
"Now?" My eyes grow wide as I look around at the busy parking lot.
He nods with a raised eyebrows and glances down, my eyes following his until I see his extremely stiff bulge.
"I don't think we can have sex right now, but," I quickly glance around again, "get in the back."
He waits until the couple next to us walks away from their car and he proceeds to slide to the luxurious back seat. As soon as the older gentleman exits out of his silver Dodge Ram next to my side of the car, I make my way to join him. He helps pull me back as we both giggle at our little adventure.
"You couldn't have parked closer to the back?" I laugh as I begin to unbuckle his belt and unzip his pants.
"I didn't know you'd end up kissing me like that." He smiles at me.
"Mmhmm." I wink at him as I free his aching erection.
I look to my left to glance out of the front window at people walking by, unaware of what's about to happen in this BMW.
I look back at him. His eyes are low and he hisses as I begin to stoke him from base to tip, twisting my wrist so that he can feel it all over it. I plant a kiss on his lips before I move down to his crotch.
"Mm...Ava please." He begs.
"Oh how times have changed." I smirk and he chuckles.
His laughter is quickly replaced by a deep groan as my wet mouth engulfs his length until it touches the back of my throat. My hand still pumping the inches I can't reach, I begin to quicken my pace when I taste the salty-sweet elixir leaking from his slit.
"Shit baby! Mm...that feels so fucking good. Suck that dick gongju. That's all yours." He hums appreciatively while his hands rake my hair into a ponytail to grip it with his left hand.
I moan out as his words give me an added ounce of confidence. His heavy cock feels so good on my tongue that I can't help but to get more into it.
I release him for a moment to spit on it, adding extra lubrication as I swallow him until I gag. The sloppy sounds echoing through the dark car interior.
"Oh my god Ava! Fuck! Don't stop!" He pushes my head down to bob in tune with the flex of his hips as his head falls back into the headrest.
I flick my tongue as I suck him harder, the unholy sounds he's making sending a wavelength of desire deep inside of me. I want to touch myself, I want to climb on him and let him spear me deep, but we're on limited time and I have work in less than an hour.
His hips still and I let go off his shaft to hold him in place as he comes down my throat. A series of curses in both his native tongue and English leaving his gorgeous mouth as he pushes my head down to swallow him whole.
I suck him softly a few more times to clean him up before I raise up and look at him.
His head was still back while his chest heaved. I stare appreciatively at his sharp jawline and glowy melanin skin as he blissed out before me...because of me.
He rubs his lips together and huffs out a chuckle as he opens his eyes to stare at the ceiling.
"I told you...I know when you're staring at me." He smirks as he lifts his head to lock eyes with mine.
I smile at him and he runs his fingers through my hair to smooth it out.
"Come on baby," I tap his bare hips, "let's go get some lunch."
"Wait a minute...sheesh." He grins at me as he tucks himself back into his clothes and zips his pants back up.
He decides to get out first and that he'll tell me when the coast is clear.
He shimmies out of the car, the sound of the leather creaking as he stands up and looks around carefully for a second before reaching out for my hand.
Once the car door shuts, he grabs my chin and forces me to kiss him.
"Tell me you're mine." He says lowly with his hand still gripping my chin, forcing me to stare at him.
"I'm yours. Only yours." I smile at him, my lips a bit swollen and pink from my previous activity.
"Mm," he hums appreciatively, "you'll get rewarded later."
He smiles and turns to walk towards the building, "come on jagi."
