Chapter Sixty-Two
With my fever broken, I begin to feel like myself again. Taehyung still refuses to leave my side and now that I know that these last days together are for sure the last we'll have for a while, I start to think that he's using my illness as an excuse to spend as much time together as possible. Even if that means staying cooped up in a small room, eating nothing but take-out and doing the same activities together.
But if him using it as an excuse is what he needs to fill the same hole spreading in his heart that I feel spreading in my own, then that's fine with me.
I haven't felt nauseous since Friday morning and I can even feel myself being able to breathe better again. The plane ride back home won't be as miserable as I was thinking it would be. Being incredibly sick while also dealing with an aching heart during a multi-hour plane ride doesn't sound appealing in the least.
"Can we please get out of this hotel room tomorrow?" I beg. "It's my last day here. Even if we just go for a walk in the park. Something!"
He looks me over, judging on if I'm really feeling better or if I'm faking it just because I have cabin fever. "Sure gongju. But if you start to feel bad again, we're coming right back."
I clap my hands and immediately make a what the hell face at my dorky show of excitement. Taehyung chuckles and shakes his head at me as he continues to study for a test he has coming up on Monday. Watching him study brings a smile to my face. The way his brow furrows every so often while he reads and the way his tongue snakes out when he's concentrating on writing down his notes are some of the cutest things I've ever seen. Whenever he doesn't comprehend something, he scratches his head and when he suddenly does understand he nods as if he's agreeing with the context. I've seen him make these same faces and same gestures whenever we would study together while video chatting, but seeing it in person really brings it to life.
"I can feel you staring at me." He says without looking up from his large textbook, startling me out of my daydream.
"Sorry." I look down at my phone and continue scrolling through social media.
"I didn't say it was a problem." He says as he turns to face me, winking at me when I look up at him. "I like that you want to look at me."
"Yeah?" I smile over to him, setting my phone down and striding towards him.
"Mmmhmm." He hums as my hands graze over his shoulders and start to massage the tense muscles forming from him sitting for so long.
His head droops down as he relaxes under my touch. Small goosebumps form on the delicate skin on the back of his neck, barely visible under his wavy head of ebony colored hair. Small purr-like moans vibrate in his chest as my thumbs begin descending down his spine, kneading out the stress of learning all of this material.
Glancing over to the desk, I take a look at the textbook he's looking at and my eyes grow wide at all of the Hangul writing. I knew it would be in Korean because I mean, duh, but it also just seems like a lot of information in general.
"Thank you baby." He leans his head back with his eyes closed and lips puckered.
I lean down to kiss him, his hands reaching back to grip onto the backs of my legs to keep me from moving away. We both smile as we continue to peck each others lips over and over in a playful way until I eventually stop and squish his cheeks together and his eyes open up to look at me.
"Quit using me as a distraction and study." I scold him.
"Yes ma'am." He mumbles, smiling again once I let go of his cheeks. "That was kind of hot."
"Oh yeah? Do you want to be the sub next time?" I tease walking back over to the bed. "Should I use the whip and handcuffs on you?"
He laughs out and shakes his head furiously at me. "Don't you ever dare to try that on me. That's strictly for me to use on you."
"Yes sir." I wink and go back to scrolling through my phone.
With a head tilt of the thought of being the submissive, he goes back to trying to focus on his task at hand. A small chuckle escapes him once more as he drops his pen and looks back over to me shaking his head. "Now I can't concentrate."
"No? Thinking about how that vibrator would feel on you?" I ask nonchalantly.
"Oh my god!" He laughs, covering his reddening face with his large hands.
"Okay, okay. I'll quit messing with you." I giggle and pop in some headphones to watch a video so that I don't disturb him anymore.
Multiple videos later and one bag of chips, I reach up to take my last given dosage of medication when my timer goes off. I'm used to having a full bottle of medication prescribed to me in the states but when Taehyung handed me a bottle with only a few pills inside, he had to explain to me that in Korea, they only give you a couple of days worth and you have to go back if more is needed. At first I thought it was weird, but now I get it. Sometimes all of that medication just isn't necessary.
"Are you feeling better or should we take you back to the doctor before you...before you leave?" Taehyung asks as I swallow down the last pill.
I shake my head with one last gulp of water, "No, I think I'm okay. I don't feel nearly as bad. I can always see the doctor when I get home."
"Okay just promise me you'll go if you have to." He turns his body more towards me, tapping the end of his pen to his chin.
"Promise." I smile over at him.
He stretches his arms over his head and leans back in the chair, utterly wiped out from so much ongoing knowledge being fed to him. The stack of notes sprawled out on the desk and other wads of paper gathered in the trash bin proves just how hard he's been working today and I can see it taking a toll on him already.
"You've been studying for hours babe. Come rest." I scoot back and pat the empty space on the bed next to me.
I don't have to tell him twice. He hops up right away with a wide grin. With two large strides, he climbs in beside me and nuzzles his face into my neck making me giggle at the scratchy stubble on his upper lip and chin that he's yet to shave off today. A phone call comes in on Taegyung's phone and although reluctant to answer it, he still pulls it out to see who it could be.
I chuckle at the picture he used for Jimin's contact and lay back as he answers the phone call.
"Yeoboseyo?" He answers.
I can't really understand anything else beyond that point. He talks so fast when speaking Korean. Especially when talking to other native speakers, but judging from his bright smile and upbeat tone of voice, I'd say that it's something good being said on the phone this time.
My phone dings with a notification and since I'm not trying to eavesdrop any further, I pick it up to see what it's all about. I open up my Facebook app to see a party invitation.
Facebook:
Ethan Michaels, Kinsley James, and Antonio Rivera invited you to a party.
Interested Going Decline
Since I'm feeling better, I hit interested. I don't want to say I'm for sure going just yet, but if I'm feeling up to it, it may be fun. Taehyung stands up and walks over to the desk where he jots down some kind of information. I have no idea what's happening, but I caught on to the words happy, good news, and tomorrow.
After ending the call, he walks back over to the bed, sitting down in front of me with his legs crossed and a bright smile plastered over his beautiful face. He's beaming with a joy I haven't really seen him have ever since his friend got into that near death accident.
"Good news?" I inquire, smiling back over to him.
"Yes." He smiles even brighter. "Jimin said that since he's doing so well, I can go get him tomorrow night after I take you to the airport. He'll still have his cast for another six weeks at the least and he'll need time for his ribs to heal, but he's doing very well otherwise."
Clapping my hands in excitement, I'm pleased to know he'll be released before I leave to go back home. I can't imagine being stuck in that hospital bed for this many days. The longest I was ever in a hospital was when I was seven and I had to get stitches from a fall on my bike. Although, I doubt a few hours in the Emergency Room hardly counts as a hospital stay.
Taehyung glances down and his smile slowly falls from his face. His sudden change of emotion throws me off guard as I follow his line of sight to my phone still brightly lit and opened up to the Facebook notification. Staring at it, he exhales and looks up at me with a flat expression.
"You sure do go to parties a lot these days, Ava. You used to hate partying." He says looking back at the phone.
The blatant use of my name instead of the nicknames he usually prefers catches my attention. Grabbing the phone, I turn off the screen and toss it aside. Slightly annoyed by his disapproval of me just considering going to a party when I get back home, I smack my lips together and shut my eyes in frustration. It's not like I've turned into some party girl who gets wasted every weekend and he can never tell where I am. Most weekends I choose to stay at the dorm and video chat with him instead.
"I only went to one party last semester and if I remember correctly, you even told me I should go." I protest, crossing my arms in front of me.
"Is it because Ethan invited you? I saw the message he sent you yesterday. I didn't know you two were Facebook friends now. And don't try to act like you don't find him attractive. I can even admit that he's handsome. And he doesn't annoy you like Lucas used to." He states, still aggravated by the whole situation.
That makes two of us.
"No, it's not because Ethan invited me. It's because my other friends are going and quite frankly, just because I might want to." I huff out.
"I know I said I would try not to be jealous of other guys, but I'm just worried that he'll be different. He's there with you, while I'm here. Halfway across the world and it'll be harder on us this time around." He explains.
"I'm not going to cheat on you." I furrow my brow at him.
"I don't think you would and that's not what I'm trying to say." He exhales out of frustration for having a hard time conveying his thoughts.
"What are you trying to say then?"
"I don't want to lose you and I don't know if I'd be able to get you back from a guy like him." His voice is much more solemn and his eyes filled with worry.
Reaching up, I grab his arms and pull him so that he's angled towards me and he presses his forehead to mine.
"Do you know what I said to him?" I ask softly and he shakes his head in response. "I told him that I will always choose you. That no matter what, you're it for me."
"You did?" His shoulders sag with a bit of relief.
"Yes I did. So he knows. He knows where I stand with him and how I feel about you." I tilt my chin up to kiss his lips.
It's not like I can fault him for being human. For having worries and being afraid to have his heart broken and me arguing about any of this wouldn't help the situation whatsoever. So instead, I show some compassion and sympathy, trying to understand why he feels the way he does and make sense of why he made such a big deal out of something so minuscule.
"We just have to try harder. This won't last forever." I reassure him that this long distance thing is only temporary.
He nods and kisses me again, lingering as if he needed to feel my lips for a bit longer on his.
"I love you baby." He pecks my lips once more.
"I love you too. Forever yours." I smile at him while caressing his cheek.
"Forever yours. Always." He whispers back to me before wrapping his arms around me in a tight embrace.
