Chapter Ninety-Two
"Where would you like this ma'am?" One of the muscular men holding on to one end of our new couch asks as they pause for my response in the middle of our living room.
The rest of the week seemed to pass in the blink of an eye and by yesterday, Taehyung had a group of hired movers come into my apartment and move all of the items and belongings that I wished to bring to our new home. It felt surreal when I locked up the apartment for the very last time earlier this morning. I was quite literally closing one door and opening another, but seeing Taehyung's smiling face waiting for me when I walked into our new home made any sentimental feelings I had vanish without a trace.
I was home.
"Um, right over there, please." I point to an empty area in the middle of the room where I think I might want it.
"She'll just move it later." Taehyung walks back into the room with a teasing smirk.
"Oh hush! I won't really know until I see it all in here and get a better feel for the space." I roll my eyes and begin pushing the entertainment center to a different section against the wall.
"Ugh, artists are so picky!" He chuckles as he quickly walks over to where I am to help me move it, "I don't want you to hurt yourself baby. I hired movers for this reason." He adds with a grunt as we finish pushing the large piece of furniture.
"I won't hurt myself. If it's too much, I'll ask for help." I tighten my pony tail and wrap my arms around his neck as his hands clasp behind my lower back, "I plomise."
"You just said plomise." He smirks with a shake of his head.
I giggle, "I pRomise!"
"That's better." He bows his head down to give me a kiss, "I just don't want you to strain yourself or mess your nails up. You just got them done and we have a date tonight, remember?"
"A date at home." I raise my eyebrows with a chuckle, "Upstairs, last door on your left." I call out to the men moving in the pieces to our bed frame. I look back to Taehyung to see him pouting cutely, "Fine, you big baby. I won't move anything else on my own...today."
"Today is all I ask. Tomorrow you and I can arrange and rearrange all day if you want." He smiles victoriously as he peppers my face with kisses.
"Newlyweds?" One of the men asks with a smile on their way back out to the moving truck with all of our new furniture inside.
"No, just in love." I smile back at him as he walks outside.
Taehyung grabs a cardboard box and nods for me to follow him, "Want to help me put up the dishes?"
"I don't need to ask the movers for help?" I cheekily reply.
"You're such a smart ass. Just come on." He laughs as he waits for me to meet up with him with a mischievous grin proudly strewn across my face and a skip in my step.
Hours later, all of the furniture has been placed inside and the movers bid us adieu. Taehyung tells me that he's going to jump in the shower before our little date while I insisted on making the bed so that we didn't have to do it later. Even though the wonderful men who helped us move in did all of the heavy lifting, even just unpacking has me tired and the last thing I want to do is be ready for bed tonight and not be able to go to sleep right away.
After making the bed, with the sound of the water running indicating he's still washing up, I figure I may as well take the time to fill up the chest of drawers. No use in putting everything off until tomorrow.
The water shuts of as I'm finishing putting the last folded item into the top drawer and I decide to sit on the bed to relax for a moment. If he's getting in the shower now then I'll probably need to start getting ready soon myself.
"Hey, I have a bath ran for you. Go relax while I cook dinner." Taehyung mentions as he steps out of the bathroom smelling like heaven itself. It's apparent to me that he sprayed on some of my favorite cologne of his.
"You're cooking dinner?" I quirk my eyebrow.
He chuckles as he walks up to me, grabbing my hands to stand up so that he can redirect me to the en-suite bathroom, "Yes...I'm cooking dinner. Now, go relax. I'll meet you downstairs in about an hour."
My head turns to face forward and I see the bathtub filled with bubbles, candles lit throughout the room, two bouquets of white roses flanking each side and a bottle of wine with a waiting empty glass sitting at the edge. He touches the screen pad mounted into the wall and soft, romantic music begins to play just before he dims the lighting, leaving only the candles to light the way.
"Taehyung!" I gush just above a whisper as my mouth hangs open slightly. I turn to look at him and he immediately tilts my chin up to give me a small, chaste kiss. "When did you? How did you?"
"I brought all of this in here earlier and set it all up as soon as I got out of the shower." He answers me, "Tonight is about you. Relax gongju."
He lifts my sweatshirt over my head and unhooks my bra letting both articles of clothing fall to the ground before sliding down my leggings and panties and helping me step out of them. Grabbing my hand, he walks me over to the bathtub and assists me with easing into the warm water. He grabs the clothes off of the floor and places them in the hamper before walking out of the room.
"Thank you, baby." I hum as I sink further down and close my eyes at the liquid's steamy embrace.
"You're welcome nae sarang." He shuts the door behind him, leaving me alone to unwind from the day.
The familiar smell of Korean cuisine snaps me out of my foggy haze and I glance over at the clock, realizing I've been in this water much longer than I thought I would have. With my fingers wrinkled and my skin supple from the oils he had included, I stand up with the water swishing around me and reach down to pull the attached plug on the drain. Stepping out on to the bath mat, I wrap the bath towel around me and blow out all of the candles before turning back up the lights in order to do my skin care.
Since he's obviously trying to make this stay at home date night special, I put in a bit more effort to my usual hair and makeup routine and rub my body down with some dry body oil before spritzing on some perfume that his favorite.
As I walk out of the bathroom, I see my newly bought plum sweater dress neatly placed over the bed with a single white rose laid across it ever so delicately. Smiling as I walk up to it, I then realize there is also a trail of white rose petals leading out of our bedroom towards the stairs. That's one thing about Taehyung, he doesn't half ass anything.
I slip on the dress and smooth out my hair before following the pathway laid out for me towards the dining room where I'm greeted by a very nicely dressed man. Taehyung wore a matching plum colored sweater vest with a white button up underneath and a pair of slacks. His hair was parted and styled down the middle and his ears were adorned with sparkling earrings as he gestured for me to have a seat next to him at the table.
"This looks so good. I'm starved!" I crane my neck to give him a kiss before digging into the meal he prepared for us both.
Casually talking about decorating ideas for the house and plans for the company or my art gallery, we simply enjoy our first real dinner together as a couple in this beautiful home. It still blows my mind that he designed and built this for us. All with the first thought of it being when he purchased the land for it back when he was merely nineteen years old. The things Taehyung is capable of is inspiring. His heart of gold, his determination, his love for his friends and family, all being things that I think of as I admire him while he talks to me as if I'm his most favorite person in the world.
"When did you say Jimin and Jungkook will be arriving? I'd love to have them over for dinner, but I want to get the house ready." I take another bite of the steaming stew as I look up at him.
"In another week. Things got put on hold temporarily with their visas, but they should be fine by then." He replies as he pushes his empty bowl towards the middle of the table.
"That's perfect actually. That will give me time to get everything unpacked and then they should be here for Tamera's art exhibit if they'd like to go." I smile proudly as I dab my mouth clean with the white cloth napkin.
"I'm sure they'd love to be there. I'll text both of them about it later and invite them." He smiles fondly at me and I temporarily wonder why he has so much love in his eyes tonight. It's not like this is some kind of special occasion or like I did something spectacular to my appearance. Either way, I appreciate it.
"Speaking of the house, what do you think about hosting annual Christmas parties every year? Our friends can come and even your family if they're visiting the states one year. We could open up presents to each other and all of the kids can play together." A gleam of hope in my eyes twinkles as I expectantly look at him.
"I'd love that! I think that's a wonderful idea. We'll start doing it this year." He agrees and I clap with excitement.
Christmas is and forever will be my favorite time of year. It only makes sense that we host a Christmas party for our loved ones in this amazing home. Now I can't wait for the next couple of months to fly by so that we can begin this new tradition.
I take a sip of my wine and push my empty bowl up to meet his. My hand raises to lovingly caress his cheek as he immediately melts into my touch. Our eyes stay locked onto each other for a few moments as we soak in the moment and appreciate one another on a level of intimacy you can't get with just anyone.
"I love you. Thank you for such a wonderful night." I softly say with a full heart.
"Ava...jagi," Taehyung begins to speak through a shaky breath, "Without even realizing it, you have steered my life in the right direction. Because of you, every day I want to become a better man than I was the day before. You inspire me to move forward and reach goals that I used to never think I'd actually achieve. From the moment I met you, my world became brighter and my heart became full. I want to grow old with you and raise our children together. I want to snuggle with you on cold mornings and argue with you about insignificant things because there's no one else I'd rather have beside me to do those with and us losing Uncle Kim this year made me realize just how precious our time on this earth actually is. Ugh, I'm talking entirely too much!" He runs his hand through his hair as he smiles back up at me bashfully.
"Taehyung?" My brow knits with a smile, confused as to why he's deciding to spill his heart to me all of the sudden.
He stands up, grabbing my hands and guiding me to stand up from my dining room seat as he begins to walk backwards, pulling me with him to go out to our new back yard. The aisle way of white rose petals and photographs of our best memories hanging freely from strings of white lights quite literally takes my breath away as I look at it in awe. I smile and giggle at some of the goofier photos we took together that I can see from where we currently stand and swoon at the sweeter ones. He's always doing these random romantic gestures and it melts me every time that he puts in all of this effort for me.
I let go of his gentle grip and he smiles his wide boxy grin while I walk around to get a better look at all of our little memories.
"This is so sweet baby! It's like our own little gallery of our relationship." I appreciatively grab one of the photographs, realizing it was the first one we ever took together.
Turning around with a smile, I see him standing silently while lovingly watching me only about a foot away from where I was.
"I love you more than I could ever describe in words or actions, but I promise to try every day for the rest of my life." He pulls his hand out of his pocket and gets down on one knee in one smooth movement in the center of the white rose petal aisle. Popping open the box, I see a solitaire diamond ring on a platinum band sparkling against the white lights surrounding us and my surprised eyes meet his nervous ones, "Ava Young, I'd love nothing more than for you to be my wife. Will you marry me? Please tell me you will because I'm nervous as hell right now."
We both giggle together as I take a step closer and shakily hold out my left hand, "Yes, of course I'll marry you Kim Taehyung!"
He slides off the couple ring I had kept on my ring finger all of these years and replaces it with a stunningly remarkable engagement ring that he had chosen for me. It's more than I could have ever imagined, but it's completely my more simplistic style.
Swiftly, he stands and wraps his arms around me, picking me up and spinning me around with the biggest eye squinting boxy smile I've ever seen him have as we both laugh happily. Once he stops twirling, I look down at him with my arms still wrapped around his neck and run my fingers through his nape. Our eyes lock on each other for a second before we kiss passionately underneath the soft glow of moonlight, romantic white lights, and sounds of petals being rustled in the autumn evening wind.
