Chapter | 46

Madness. This was all there is. Starting from the moment I entered this world, everything in my life has been chaotic, insane, tiring, absolutely ludicrous.

"So you're telling me, it was you?! Have you no idea how much I suffered?"

"I needed to do it. To make you strong. You're weak, Alina. Without those abilities, you're nothing."

"I saw my parents die in front of me. My brother died because of me."

"All that for you."

"This is it. I've had enough." Words slipped out of my mouth like a bullet, I stared at Christian longer than I should've, murderous thoughts running back and forth, corrupting my mind.

"You people have been trying to control me since day one; what I should do, how I should act and who I'm supposed to be." I take a few steps towards him; carefully. My voice is shaky, and all I can think about is how much they've wronged my family.

They died because of me. Because of them. To them, they were mere puppets.

He does nothing except staring at me with that smug expression of his. He looks like an absolute idiot; if only he knew.

"Oh, really? Well, then, show me. Who you truly are." He spits out, walking towards the desk. I follow him, noticing the fireplace, an idea slowly coming to life. I slowly take a step towards it.

"Who are you, Alina Vanderbilt?"

Another step.

"Behind all that power? Who are you?"

Another step.

"SHOW ME!" He yelled, throwing his arms in the air.

My hand snaking behind my back, I grasp the metal fireplace poker.

"I'm an angry bitch!" I yell, slamming the iron stick in his face as hard as I could. He sprung backward, blood oozing from his lips, nose, and eyes. "Are you insane?" He chocked out.

"This is for my Dad!" I scream, bashing it at his face once more. "And this is for my Mom!" Another hit, and he screams, the sound of bones breaking clearly ringing in my ears. He fell to the ground, gasping for air.

"For Nathan!" Tears are streaming down my face, as I hit him even harder, my whole strength used on him. "He didn't deserve it, he didn't deserve to die!"

He's shaking, thick red liquid profusely coming out of his deformed face.

"And lastly," I cried out,

"This is for the childhood you've all stolen from me!" I cried, raising the bloodied rod higher. I gathered my remaining strength,
and rammed it all the way through his heart, taking his life away instantly.

I let it go, my hands shaking violently, stumbling backward. What have I done? I must've gone mad. I am mad.

"Alina?" A voice murmured from behind. I turn around, praying to God that it wasn't anyone from the family. Did I not hear the doors opening? And who could've opened those locks from the outside?

Jason stepped in, dressed in a tux.

"Jesus Christ." He breathes out, closing the doors again, making sure no one sees this. His eyes are fixed on me, and that's when it dawned on me, I was covered in blood.

"Sorry." My voice is shaking, raising my hand towards him. "Do not do that! It won't help you!" He yells, running towards me, grasping my hands.

"It won't help." He insisted.

"I need to erase your memories. No one can know, no one-" I sobbed. Fear was taking over me. What if Damian finds out about this?

"And they won't." He insisted, moving over to Christian's lifeless body.

"Promise me." My voice is still shaking.

"I promise."

three hours later

"Done." Jason stood up, throwing the dirty towel away. Christian's body had been burned in the back garden, all evidence of him now gone. He had been helping me with taking away all evidence.

I took comfort in the couch, a cup of tea in my grasp and a blanket thrown around me. I took the luxury of taking a shower earlier, cleaning myself out of all the blood. Scenes of me beating him up, ending his life had been tormenting me the past hours.

"You've been awfully quiet. In fact, you haven't said anything about.. this." Jason speaks up, throwing the last towel into the fireplace.

"I don't want to." I take a sip of my tea, watching him closely as he took a seat next to me.

"You made me clean up a murder scene. Do you know how terrified and traumatized I am?" He teases, and I contained myself from rolling my eyes.

"I guess this was my way of grieving towards Nathan. I've been keeping it all to myself, lately." I tell him. I can feel myself at the brink of sanity, able to give in anytime now.

"I needed a release. And now I've gone mad."

"It's a miracle no one saw us." He chuckles. "And, yes, you've probably gone mad." I hit him in the chest, earning a loud series of laughs.

"We'll say that his relative died, and he was very shaken, and he retired immediately. No one will suspect anything." I stood up, placing the cup down on the table.

"No one can know." I rubbed my hands together, feeling another headache coming. "This is all happening so fast. Too fast."

I looked up, staring at Jason's expecting face. It was finally time I made a decision.

"I need a break, Jason. A really long one."

I can't believe this book is coming to an end. This is my very first book, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Don't worry, this isn't the last chapter. There will still be a few ones before the end.

I am terribly sorry for the absence, life has been hectic the past few weeks, concerning university and other stuff. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for reading and voting this story. You all mean much more to me than you know.
