Chapter | 36

I swear to God.

My mind is broken.

I accidentally read a fan-fiction of Damian.. being.. pregnant.

I can't recover from that.

"TALIA! COME OUT, YOU COWARD!" I screamed, clutching my father's lifeless body; as my voice was hidden away by the sky's roars.

Blood stained my clothes. His blood.

"Dad.. Dad! Please, please stay alive.."

No response.

"COME AND FACE ME!" I shouted again, tears blurring my vision, my screams resonating throughout the throne room.

The skies were stormy, a reflection to what I was feeling inside. My fingers grasped my father's body tighter, unwilling to let him go. Because if I do, it'll be the last time I've ever held him. I'm not ready for this.

"STOP HIDING! FACE ME!"

My voice disappeared slowly as I cradled my father. My fingers softly grasping his cheeks, as I tried my best to bring him back. Surely these powers can do that?

"Please, please.." I croaked, my tears falling down, dropping onto my father's forehead, mixing with the blood.

"Please.."

"Alina!" A loud voice brought me back, as I took the situation in front of me. Marcus stood beside my desk, as I sat down, holding my phone.

Which I broke into two. Great.

Tossing the remains of my phone away, I reached for the glass of water beside my computer. Chugging it down, It immediately felt a lot better.

"Another nightmare?"

"No, I was awake this time." I mutter, putting the glass away, massaging my forehead, eliminating my father away from my thoughts.

"You sure you're alright? You don't need anything?"

"A new phone. But no, I'm alright." I smile sheepishly.

"Alina.. I know something's up with you."

"Really, it's nothing."

"I'll send in your new assistant then." Marcus tells me, handing me a folder which contains the new assistant's information.

"Oh, she's here?" My lips curled into a smile.

Finally. The past few days hadn't been easy, considering Sarah, my previous assistant, quit. Being the CEO's assistant wasn't an easy task.

I refuse to open the folder, containing the information about this new girl. I'd prefer to get to know her in person. "Just send her in." I tell him, and he nods.

The door opens as I sip my coffee, and a small figure walks in. Marcus leaves the office, closing the door behind him.

"Good afternoon, your Highness." A soft voice I recognized spoke, as I looked up, I contained myself from choking on my drink.

Holy hell.

"Olivia? Olivia Parker?" As in, the Olivia. My friend at Gotham Prep, and Damian's ex-girlfriend.
My.. new assistant.

"I'm glad you still remember me." She mutters, a timid voice, standing in front of my desk, clutching a Prada bag.

"Obviously." I muttered, sending her a dry glance.

She shifts in her position, sulking. She obviously needs this job, hence why would she come to me?

My eyes fixed her for a minute; taking in her figure. She had more curves, her beautiful dark skin glowing, and her curly black hair into a neat bun.

She had changed, that's for sure.

"Very well, then. You start today. Marcus will show you your desk." Standing up, I send her a quick smile. "Thank you! You won't regret this." She smiles sheepishly.

Nodding, I step out, meeting face to face with Marcus. "She's great, right? Graduated from a known University, friendly and understanding. Not to forget, she is very intelligent." He tells me, smiling.

"Yes, I know. A tiny detail, though. She's Damian's ex." I smile back at him, and he frowns. "Oh."

"Anyways, we have a meeting after this, right?" I ask, as we strode down the hallway, towards the private elevators.

"Yes. With the minister of Education, from France. Nathan has sent you an e-mail regarding the topic. It's here." He hands me another folder, marked Confidential.

"Very well then." I murmur, stepping into the lift.

"J'espère que tu n'as pas oublié ton français." Marcus teases, his accent laced in his voice, as the elevator door closes.

"Bien sûr que non." I smiled back as we made our way upstairs.

"It's been a long time since we've seen him, to be honest." The green skinned boy spoke as he rambled beside Damian, as they strolled in the gardens, near the Titans Tower.

"You haven't been in touch with him, Garfield?" Damian spoke softly, hands in his pocket, as he contemplated the view. It had been a long time since he's been here.

"For the last time, don't call me that. Beast Boy will do." He cringed as Damian chuckled lightly beside him. "Besides, you're the one close to Jonathan. You should be in contact."

Beast Boy walked slowly beside him, kicking stones on the gravel road. Damian couldn't help but notice something was wrong, but he retained himself from asking.

"The last time we spoke was a year ago." Damian stopped in his steps, as they heard someone else coming.

Raven.

She appeared beside them, still in her mysterious attire, her eyes glimmering under the harsh sunlight.

"Excuse me, I have something to do." Beast Boy rumbled as he turned away, to Damian's surprise, and walked home towards the Tower.

"What happened between you two?" Damian asked once Beast Boy was out of sight, as Raven presses her feet onto the ground, avoiding his gaze. The air suddenly felt cold.

"We took a break." She mumbled quietly, glancing at him. Her eyes were slightly glassy, although any trace of emotion were quickly diminished.

"I'm sorry." Damian muttered. He didn't really expect it, but yet again, nothing is really expected.

"But I'm okay now." She smiled lightly, easing up the atmosphere.

"I'm glad you are." He smiled back, looking at his old friend. They had many memories here, years ago, when Damian joined the group of vigilantes.

She had been one of his very first friends, considering he hadn't been good at socializing.

Looking back at his past self, it was quite surprising at how much he had changed. From a bratty, problematic little boy; onto a quiet, calm young man. Although traces of his childhood had clung to him. For example, his unforgiving and rough side.

But he had managed to control it.

His posture was tall, broad shoulders, built body. He was the same height as Jason now. And Raven did notice the change.

"It's been long, these years." She sighed as they walked together, admiring the garden Starfire had neatly arranged.

"Yeah."

"So much has changed." Raven continued, stopping in her tracks, facing him. She removed her hood, revealing her dark, shoulder length locks.

Damian quietly stood beside her, pressing his lips together.

"But not all has changed Damian." She spoke up, as he narrowed his eyes towards her.

Before he could react, she walked towards him, closing the distance between them.

The next thing he proceeded was the feeling of her lips against his.

Me, silently waiting for your death threats. I already know they're coming.

And guess what? The Last Jedi left me in a mess of my own feelings. I think I may have found my new OTP. (Please don't comment spoilers, in case some of the others haven't watched it yet).

So I'm writing this from the Immigration office.

Because I lost my passport. And I have a flight in about five days. So yes, I am screwed.
