Chapter | 32

This chapter may seem a bit rushed and to the point, and I apologize for that.
Please read the Author's section, and I promise once I have the time, I'll rewrite this chapter. :)

The building was a mess. Debris, dust and screams everywhere.

My eyes wandered, searching for her. Checking every corner, it was almost impossible to find anything. The smoke made it impossible to see clearly. I wish I had brought the batman suit with me.

"You're in denial." A feminine voice boomed from behind me. A voice I knew too well. My mother.

"What have you done?"

My mother walks towards me, head high. "I told you once. She was a bomb."

"I don't understand. What do you mean?"

"The day we decided to create the serum, your Grandfather was actually against it. I went on anyways. I made sure that it would all work out perfectly. And it did, in a way."

"What I didn't expect, was her. The girl. I did not know that she'd be like a fighter. Going against all my rules, going against the contract I had with her mother."

"I wanted her to continue your grandfather's legacy. To be an Al-Ghul.. Not by name, but by heart. Instead.. She rebelled. Like you."

I stood silent. My mother continued speaking.

"If her body is under great pressure, it'll destroy itself." She walks towards me.

"You must be thinking, why choose a member of the Royal family, an heir to the throne, as a mere test subject. But there's one thing that she doesn't know." She continues, her hand snaking down to her waist, grabbing her weapon carefully.

I raised my brow, noticing my mother's obtuseness.

"Alina was about to die at birth. The serum we injected into her system saved her."
"Her lungs were undeveloped."

"Will the antidote cure her?" I asked, stopping her, placing a strong grip onto her shoulder.

"No. The antidote will kill her. It'll restore her body to the first condition it was in. She won't survive."

I grabbed her shoulder, twisting it, as she let a loud, painful groan. I dislocated her shoulder.
Taking my sword, I place it onto her neck, blade pressing against the skin.

"Where is she?" I whispered harshly.

"I told you. The serum had the characteristics of a bomb. When pressured with great pain, the body will destroy itself." She mutters, pressing a gun onto my waist.

"WHERE IS SHE?!"

"She's dead, Damian. She's dead."

"Stop lying, woman, and tell me where she is." I grit through my teeth, dropping the sword, as my mother falls onto the floor, groaning in pain.

"I swear, I swear on your Grandfather's life. She didn't make it. I didn't want it to end this way, son, believe me."

I step into the building, neglecting her. The smell of gas welcomes me as I made my way inside. The main hall was completely destroyed, debris all over the place, making it impossible to step any further.

There's only two possibilities now. Alina's dead, or she escaped. I march back into the Batmobile. "Call Jason." I muttered, getting into the car, making my way towards the manor.

"I'm taking care of the situation. This is bad. Where are you?" Jason's voice resonated throughout the mobile, as I speeded through cars. "On my way home. The building is completely destroyed. There's no way anyone could survive in that state. It was bombed from underground."

"I know. That's what I thought. Tim's with me, he's breaking into the city surveillance cameras."

"Nothing. No sign of her leaving the building, or any suspicious activities.. None." I announced through the BatCave. Jason sat calmly, Damian paced around nervously.

"Check again." Damian mutters, green eyes flashing with anger.

"Damian, I'm sorry, but there isn't any possible way out than the main entrance or the back door. I checked the building plans, there's no way ou-"

"I said there is!" He roared, clenching his jaw. Jason narrowed his eyes at me, standing up. "We'll find a way. We will."

"How's Alina?" A small voice erupted my thoughts, and I turn around, facing Michael.

The teenage boy, my cousin, stood by the door, a glass of water in his grasp.

We were back at the apartment, where Tim and I resided. Drake wanted me here, he was convinced that this was a safer place. He was right.

"She'll be fine, kiddo. Come here." Michael walks into my embrace, placing his head onto my shoulder.

The last time I saw him, he was short, childish and..happy. Now he was a shell of what he used to be. He refuse to tell me what had happened during his kidnapping, but thank goodness that he hasn't lost it yet.

"I'm sorry, Michael. I'm sorry we weren't there for you." I mutter, tears flowing down, as he tightened the embrace. I could hear him crying.

"It's okay. I forgive you. I forgive you all."

"When are we arriving?!" I seethed at one of the assassins, sitting in the passenger seat. Wincing, the pain in my shoulder only aggravating as I tried to shift. That boy.. If he wasn't my son, I'd kill him.

"In five minutes." Hayden, my right hand man muttered, looking at the road.

"Where is she?" I asked. "She's secure. Badly hurt, but she'll be fine." He nods.

Staring out the window, I notice we've arrived.

"Good. Once we land in the main base of the League of Assassins, You'll do everything to heal her." He nods once again, stepping out of the car.

"The plane is ready, Mrs. Al-Ghul."

Stepping into the private plane, I took a seat, glancing at Hayden. He sends me a glance, and I knew right then that everything was going smoothly.

After I heal her, that's when I can begin my plan. The Al-Ghuls are going to have a new member.

And I'll have my successor.

So..

The result for my sister just came in, a few days ago..

And according to the doctor, there is a chance that she might have cancer.

I was shocked, to say the least.. Hence why I've been inactive on Wattpad for a few days, I just got caught up in this whole.. situation.

She has been skipping school for the past three weeks, due to her irregular headaches.
I still don't know how to process this, because it was completely unexpected. I just hope that she'll be fine.

Anyways, Thank you guys for sticking up, and please don't forget to vote! I'll rewrite this chapter soon enough, I promise.
