As I promised, I'm here with an author's Q/A. The following questions were sent to me by Paanchalii .

Paanchalii thank you for sending in the questions. I absolutely loved all the answering all the questions. I hope my answers would satisfy you too.

So without further ado, let's begin:~

1. Did Alishka ever love her family? (Or was she like Lord Voldemort?)

Ans: First of all, I love the Harry Potter reference, fellow potterhead! Second of all, I feel that when I developed Alishka's character, I gave her the kind of qualities that you would expect from the people that you usually despise. Infact, I have de-humanised in many instances too. For me, she is a stone cold bitch who doesn't give two fucks about anyone but herself. If maybe I rewrite this book a few years in the future, I'd probably like to show a more humanistic side of her along with her sociopathic side because I think she too deserves that much.

2. Did Avinash really love Saina or was he just playing around with her?

Ans: I'd truly like to believe that he did love Saina in his own way. What Avinash was a part of is called a mysogynistic environment. He valued materialistic things such as popularity and stuff more than actual relationships. He wasn't entirely at fault. That's just how he had grown up. But I truly feel he had feelings for Saina at some point.

3. Why were Alishka and Yash so interested in Veronica?

Ans: As I've stated many times in the book, Veronica is a very complex character. She has two sides to her story. One that paints her as a monster who killed her mother, and the other that paints her as someone who has gone through so much trauma at an early age that vulnerability is a big part of her. Alishka wanted to use that to her advantage just like Yash. Her vulnerability gave them a key to manipulate her. And trust me, there is nothing more in this world that people love than manipulating others. Some do it purposefully, some others do it without actually realising it.

4. What do Himanshu's parents do? (Lol)

Ans: To be honest, not even I know what they do. They are just there throughout the story, mentioned here and there. But there's no concrete build-up of their storyline.

5. Did Nikhil ever love Sanchi?

Ans: He probably liked her because of her perfect persona and also, I think he took her as a naive person who would cling to him no matter what he did.

It was a toxic relationship to be precise.

6. Hypothetically, Alishka's soul is seeing the whole drama unfold....how does she feel about it?

Ans: I feel like there are two answers to this. Either she's feeling worse and going through redemption for the pain she had caused the rest. Or she's sitting in hell, with Satan wrapped around her finger and enjoying whatever is happening to the rest.

It could be either and I wouldn't really be shocked if it is really the latter.

7. Did Zoya date Kartik only for revenge? Or did she have any feelings towards him?

Ans: Zoya's perspective was blinded by her hatred towards Alishka. She wanted to get back at her and being 14 and naive, she used Kartik as an opportunity to do that. She surely became comfortable with Kartik but I don't think she saw him as anything more than a friend.

8. Was Yash really gay or did he pretend to be so?

Ans: Yash was Bisexual, yes. But he didn't have any feelings for Ahaan.

9. How did Kartik feel when he saw Siya in that cute pink dress on Christmas?

Ans: (handing over the mic to Kartik) I was awestruck. I mean she looks beautiful in a messy bun and baggy t-shirts too , but there was something different about her that way. I considered myself very lucky when I saw her come down the porch steps of her house. I guess it wouldn't be wrong to say that she took my breath away.

8. Which is your favourite ship from the book?

Ans: I like Himanshu and Veronica the most. I even think that at some point , even Zoya and Saina had a potential of turning into the best ship ever. However, Yash and Jail come next for me.

9. Did Saina really forgive her dad? What does her mom do for a living now?

Ans: Saina let go of her dad , as she should have. If a person doesn't wanna stay in your life, the best thing would be to set them free. She is in a much better place now.

As for Saina's mother, she now owns the Paper Lantern. She and Saina run the place together.

10. Did Alishka ever love Saina platonically?

Ans: Maybe when they were kids, yes.

11. What was Sanchi's motive behind helping Yash?

Ans:  A lot of people had asked me this question and I honestly apologize for not clearing this in the last few chapters. So basically Nikhil had an affair with Alishka back in high school and for that reason, Nikhil and Sanchi had to break up the summer before everything happened. But Sanchi was yet still in love with Nikhil, and thus she despised Alishka for stealing her boyfriend. So when Yash approached her with his plan and told him his backstory, she took this as an opportunity to get rid of Alishka.

The reason she helped Yash torture the others into creating evidences was because they both had to cover their tracks after Alishka's death. She knew that if she backed out at any moment, Yash could frame her in the whole thing. Thus, she helped him.
