Enlightenment- Part 8

Dalton's POV

A cold sensation filled my body as it was dragged across the rough terrain. My head was throbbing. The blood had finally stopped falling. I had no idea where I was going but I knew that it would be no good.

Kassy's POV

I awoke the next morning. Kerric and I had gone searching for Dalton but came up empty handed.  We decide to break for the night and get some well deserved sleep. I arise and slowly make my way to the window and open it. A cold, winter breeze blows into the room as delicate snowflakes fall onto the dead grass down below. All that really ran through my head was that elvish stranger who appeared last night.

Who was he? Will I ever see him again?

I sigh at my own thoughts and slip into my uniform. My nerves were on edge as I opened the door and entered the bustling hall of teenage angst. Most of them had no life changing problems to deal with like I. The weight of the world rested on my shoulders. Kerric knew of what was going on but he did not know of my fate, my true destiny. So, since he had no part of it, I decide not to tell him and do my own investigating.

I entered classroom 3-2 and sat in the back of the classroom next to the frosted window. This was my history class. No one I knew had this class so I was always alone. Some tried to talk with me but I only had meager responses. There was too much on my mind for me to truly care about what they had to say. I sat through and listened to the teacher's lesson but then, something he said sparked my interest.

"Witches." stated the teacher. "Are ancient beings believed to be associated with the devil. Due to this many men and women were killed throughout the ages."

"Witches weren't real though and were killed under false pretenses though. The only things close to witches were like wiccans, right?" called out a perky blonde in the front row.

"That is where you were wrong." he retorts. "According the the book, "Σκοτεινές", by Aegeus Tadeas, they were indeed real beings that plagued ancient Greek long time ago. They referred to themselves as god-like beings and thought that they should control the empire and all lands across the Earth. They were believed to be eradicated by Persius the Great, descend of a god-kin but witches still roam this earth."

"There is no proof though." says a skittish boy.

"We only see what the eyes show us but it is our minds that allow us to see reality." responds the teacher.

The bell then rings, signaling the end of class. This knowledge I have learned has given me some direction and has made me feel more enlightened about the problem at hand.

Dalton's POV

"Where am I?" I question as I rise from unconsciousness.

The area around me was pitch black and there were no signs of life. I make my way to a door only to find it locked. I murmur incoherent words of anger as I slam my fist against the wall. I needed to find a way out before something bad happens. I looked around but found no windows or loose bricks. I was stuck. Before I could do anything else, a gas filled the room and knocked me out once more.
