Besides-you owe me
Seonghwa was startled awake by a loud blaring on his bedside. He tried to turn it off but moving made his head pound and he sank back to the bed. Unable to think of another solution, he wrapped a pillow around his head and curled up in a ball.
"Aish—I'm so sorry! I forgot I had that set!"
As the sound clicked off Seonghwa spun to see who the hell was in his house.
"H—Hongjoong? What are you doing here?"
"The better question would be what am I doing here."
"That's what I said."
"No! I meant—never mind. You're in my house. That's why I'm here."
Seonghwa sat up in an instant, looking around the room. He quickly felt the pain return to his head and he slowly slid back down on the bed. In the short glimpse he had of the room, he could tell it was not his apartment.
"Sorry...how drunk did I get last night?"
"I think your hangover can answer that for you," Hongjoong laughed as he adjusted the curtains, dimming the morning sun.
"Coffee? Please?" Seonghwa whined and Hongjoong nodded, heading to the kitchen.
Seonghwa sighed, burying his head in Hongjoong's pillow. He couldn't help but breath in the comforting scent of Hongjoong's shampoo and smiled a bit. It seemed to ease his headache. Just a little.
After what felt like an hour, Hongjoong finally returned with a mug of steaming coffee and Seonghwa pulled the pillow off his face as he smelled the warm scent drifting towards him.
He gratefully grabbed the mug with two hands and took a long sip, closing his eyes at how much it helped.
He heard Hongjoong stifle a chuckle.
He opened one eye.
"What?"
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing."
"What did you do."
"Wha—how dare you accuse me of attempting to make fun of a man who is clearly in a mountain of pain!" Hongjoong scoffed but Seonghwa didn't trust him.
As he took another sip, Hongjoong let out another giggle and Seonghwa noticed him glance at his mug.
Raising an eyebrow, he turned the cup in his hand and Hongjoong started forward.
"Wait wait wait—I can explain—"
As Seonghwa turned the mug he was met with a handlebar mustache painted on the other side.
He looked up at Hongjoong with a sneer.
"Funny."
Hongjoong bit his lip, trying not to laugh again.
"I know it was cruel but I saw my chance and I had to take it. Besides—you owe me."
Seonghwa had turned the coffee mug around and taken another sip and nearly spat out his coffee at the remark.
"What!? How do I owe you?"
"Because I'm keeping a secret for you."
Seonghwa froze. He realized he had gotten pretty wasted last night but he didn't even consider that he might have said something.
Something like "I'm actually the son of the CEO and I thought you were a spy."
He turned to lock eyes with Hongjoong, remembering his father' lectures on intimidation and interrogation.
"It's really not a big deal. You think I don't remember?"
Hongjoong seemed surprised but not entirely fooled.
"What are you talking about!? It's a HUGE deal! You're an entirely different person than you said you were!"
Seonghwa felt his heart sink. So he'd really told him everything. Fuck.
"You have to promise me you won't tell anyone."
"Ah, so I've got your attention now, Hwaseong. Or should I say, Seonghwa."
Seonghwa felt his pulse rise. His breathing quickened. He was definitely awake now.
"Don't. Call. Me. That."
"Woah—calm down, I didn't realize it was such a touchy subject! I tried to stop you from telling me but you kept insisting. If you don't want me to use your real identity, I won't. I just thought—it might be refreshing? After going by a different name for so long..."
Seonghwa calmed down a bit. It hurt to see Hongjoong looking at him like a scolded puppy. He had overreacted a bit. After all, it was only his name. And no one had any idea what name it really was.
But he didn't know how much more Hongjoong knew. Clearly he'd figured out most of it. But did he really know everything?
He wanted to ask but it would make if obvious he was hiding something.
"I'm sorry it's just—no one's ever known that about me. The only ones who have ever called me by my real name are my parents."
"No, it's okay! I'm sorry for making such a big deal out of it I was just teasing you. I really won't tell anyone your name if you don't want me to."
Seonghwa felt a bit relieved. It seemed like all he knew was his real name. And he didn't even seem to know his last name—not that Park was going to give anything away.
He really needed to be more careful. After all, he had agreed to drink so that Hongjoong could unload on him and yet apparently he'd been the only one unloading.
Now he realized what a jerk he'd been.
"Hey Hongjoong, I'm really sorry about last night. I was supposed to listen to you and give you someone to talk to and instead you had to put up with drunk me."
"It's fine, Hwaseong. You're honestly kind of cute when you're wasted."
Seonghwa groaned and pressed the pillow to his face. It was so embarrassing.
"But really, you're pretty harmless. Other than trying to share your deepest darkest secrets."
Seonghwa shot him a glare and Hongjoong decided he was finished joking about the matter.
"Well we should probably head in to work. I can call you in sick if you want—"
"There will be no need for that. I've never called in sick in my life. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Definitely. As long as you've got some mild painkillers."
