7 - Silence
|| WARNING ⚠️ This chapter could be distressing. I have put a mark where you should skip if you thing it may be too much. Sorry but I had to put this in ||
Lia's P.O.V.
We drove home in silence.
One minute everything seemed so normal and fast, the next it was painful and slow.
Vincent was crying. I tried to stay strong for him. I mean, yeah, I'm not there for him as much as I could be, but he's my little brother, and I love him to bits.
The radio suddenly found a connection and switched on. We both jumped at the sudden noise and Vincent hurriedly turned it off again.
Back to silence.
"Hey Vin?" I say, trying not to sound too distressed.
"Yeah?" He replied sorrowfully.
"I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault." A tear dropped onto his lap.
"Not for that... for not always being there..."
It went silent again. Only the roar of the engine echoing through the car.
"I forgive you. I never felt pushed away. I just kinda missed 'us'".
"I mean it though. I'm always here. Now and forever." He places his hand on my knee as we steadily drove home.

|| WARNING ⚠️ Distressing part coming up ||
When we pulled in on the parking lot, you could already see the black cloud above the house. It seemed already dark, even though it was only 3pm. The silver lining didn't exist.
We jumped out of the car, and slowly approached the door. My hand hesitated as I reached for the handle.
I looked back at Vincent who stared straight into my eyes. If he was a demon, he would have reached my soul.
I slowly opened the door. Mom was laying on the sofa.
Vincent stood by the door. He was staring at dads old waterproof jacket, still hung on the coat hook.
As I walked towards mom, something didn't seem right. She was awfully silent, and didn't even flinch when Vincent pushed the door shut.
"Mom?" I stepped a little closer. Hundreds of empty pill bottles swallowed her as she lay limp on the sofa.
"Mom?!" I sounded alarmed.
Vincent ran over, his eyes scanned the devastating scene. I pushed him away.
"You don't need to see this. Call an ambulance!" I was really panicking now.
I checked mom, she was still breathing.
"Mom? Can you hear me? It's Lia, Vincent is here too.
A tear rolled down her cheek, I caught it with my thumb.
"It's okay. I'm here, you're going to be okay..."
"104 Primrose cottage..." I could hear Vincent talking to the ambulance.
"Uhh, yeah, she's still breathing..."
"Okay..."
"I think she took too many tablets..."
"Okay, please hurry..."
"I will stay on the phone..." He ran over to where mom lay.
"She needs to stay awake..."
"Mom?! Please wake up"
