Chapter 5

"SLOW DOWN!" Hurricane yelled, plugging his ears. "LALALALA FATE IS JUST AS STUPID AS MUM SAYS LALALALALA!"
"Urg, Hurricane will you stop acting like a newly hatched dragonet for ONE SECOND!" I groaned. "Yes, there is a new prophecy. Don't ask me how I know this one is real, I just have a feeling, ok?"
"And you." I turned to Blizzard. "I probably saved the world from a war, you know! What if your stupid tribe had killed her? The nightwings and rainwings would probably demand war, and there'd be a much more serious issue!"
"As if the rainwings could ever hurt more than a banana! And the nightwings would probably give a roasted elephant to every single icewing on the continent for killing her! They hate being ruled by a rainwing!"
"DON'T UNDERESTIMATE MY TRIBES! I AM GOING TO RULE THE WORLD ONE DAY, AND YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU EVER DOUBTED THEIR LOYALTY TO MY FAMILY!" I yelled.
They stepped back, eyes wide and fearful.
"D- d - DreamCatcher?" Hurricane stuttered.
I started to cry, all the fury drained out of me and leaving behind a torn and soaked tapestry of a dragon. "I- I- I'm s- sorry... do you hate me now?"
"Never, never. I love you, and I always will. You hear me?" Hurricane whispered, wrapping his wings around me and rocking me like a baby. "Shhhhh... it's going to be ok... it's going to be ok..."
"W- will you abandon me like ClearSight abandoned DarkStalker?" I asked quietly. "We could end up like them, heartbroken and depressed. You would represent ClearSight, seeing only the bad futures. Blizzard would be Fathom, terrified of me and my power. I would be DarkStalker, evil and betrayed by my friends. It fits perfectly."
"We would never, ever, do that. We love you, even though at times it may not seem like it." Hurricane said, still hugging me tight.
"Maybe not love, but we definitely want to keep you as a friend." Blizzard said, joining the hug. The rain from my bed spread out into the entire cave, making it feel like we were being hugged by someone far, far away. We sat there in the middle of the room, crying and hugging each other, never wanting to let go.
"I'm sorry for being evil. I'm sorry for killing dragons, and I wish I could have done things a different way." I sniffled, hugging them close.
"You're not evil, you were just protecting your mother. You killed them with your magic because you couldn't fight with your own claws, so you had to find something else. You were a little dragonet, so you didn't know the difference between right and wrong." Hurricane said.
"But I did know the difference! I knew killing was bad, and still is! I bet my soul wants me to be evil!" I wailed.
"Your soul is not your brain. It's either somebody, or... something else. We don't know. But we'll find it, and we'll fix our problem, ok?" Hurricane said, standing up. "We have to."
"Do you think this is the prophecy? I don't understand the part about the child of the stalker. We know it's not Sunny, she would never kill anybody." I said, pacing the length of the cave.
"But it could be you." Blizzard said, looking me in the eye.
"But I'm not a 'troubled soul'! I don't have a broken heart!"
"How do you know that? What if deep down inside you, you resent your mother for not paying attention to you?"
"We could know. I could enchant something." I said.
"NO!" They yelled, lunging at me and pinning me to the ground, Blizzard holding my snout closed and Hurricane making sure I didn't get up.
"No more spells for you! Your soul is damaged enough." Hurricane said. "I'll only get off you if you promise not to use it unless absolutely necessary. Ok?"
"Ok! Geez... but will you PUH-LEASE get off me?" I grunted.
"Fine." And they did.
"But you know, I could have just enchanted something with my mind." I said.
"But we knew you wouldn't enchant something as unimportant as that while two dragons are pinning you to the ground." Blizzard said, trying to pick the tiny bits of stone from his scales.
"Ok, we should really turn this rain off, someone's bound to notice the water seeping from the cave." I said.
"Yeah. How do you turn it off?" Hurricane said, looking around.
"You ask it, dummy!"
He did, however sarcastically he had said it.
"But now what do we do?" I asked, looking at the two of them.
"Fulfill the prophecy, I guess." Blizzard said.
"But where do we start? It never said anything about where we should go."
"At the beginning." Hurricane said. "Finding out who the child of the stalker is."
"Well, we've got that covered." Blizzard said. "It's obviously DreamCatcher, isn't it? She killed a whole wing of icewings, and her soul can't be saved."
"It's NOT me! I told you already, I am not a troubled soul. And plus, my soul isn't SO bad. I still have a third left."
"A third is not enough! You need the WHOLE THING for us not to worry. But we need to go to somebody with animus powers to help us with this problem." Blizzard said.
"Fine. How about Anenome?"
"Ok."
We left the cave to find the seawing queen.
"Why did it have to RAIN?" Blizzard whined.
"Quit whining, Blizzard or I am going to have to cut your snout off your face." I said.
"Hey! Not allowed!" He said as I poked him in his stomach.
"Definitely allowed."
He poked me back.
"Oh, no you did not!" I poked him again.
"Hey!" He poked me with two claws.
"Ok, you two, enough!" Hurricane said, poking the two of us as he stepped inbetween us.
"You're no fun." I pouted.
"I am stopping a fight that could end with serious injuries. I am a hero."
I rolled my eyes. "Uh huh. Sure. Whatever you say, my knight in shining armor."
"See? And someday, I shall be a king."
"My king, if that's what you mean."
He twined his tail with mine. "Yes."
"I love you." I whispered."I hope you know that."
"I love you. And I know that you're never going to kill me or Blizzard."
Then, I kissed him. "I'll never, ever kill you."
"Hey, lovebirds?" Blizzard called to us. "You might want to see this."
We broke apart, startled. Then I saw it. We were somewhere that I'd never seen before, it had no hills, just a long ocean of wavy yellowish grass. It had a few trees with super flat tops, but nothing else I could see.
"Wha- where are we?" I asked.
"I don't know, but it doesn't look anything like Pyrrhia." Blizzard said nervously.
I heard wingbeats.
"Get down!" I whispered. "Someone's coming!"
They jumped, but got their bearings soon after and listened to me.
I looked up through the grass, just in time to see gigantic butterfly wings leave my line of sight.
What? I thought.
What happened? Blizzard thought to me. Did you see something?
Yes, but you'll think I'm stupid.
Come on, tell us! Hurricane chimed in.
I saw gigantic butterfly wings. But not the usual two-talons-long gigantic, but big enough to be dragon wings.
WOW. BUTTERFLY WINGS. UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY MIND BLOWING. Hurricane thought loudly.
Imagined me rolling my eyes. Blizzard thought.
You two are mean. But we should stop talking like this, or we'll miss something important. I thought to them.
Fine. They thought.
"They don't look like any hybrids I've ever seen. Do you think they're from the Missing Piece?" A melodious voice asked.
"Maybe. But look at her wings! They have weird bones or veins in them, and she has these rainbow scales that change color. And scales that look like stars. Also, they all look so shiny like they were bathing in the Shimmer Pool." A slightly singsong-y voice said.
"Oh, look. The dark one's waking up."
"Where am I?" I asked the darkness, because my eyes were still gummed shut by sleep.
"You're in the silk kingdom, of course!" The melodious voice said.
"What's the silk kingdom? Where is Jade Mountain, and where are my friends? Am I even on Pyrrhia anymore?"
"Ha HA! I told you Luna! They ARE from the missing piece!"
"We don't know that Swallowtail. They could have lived here the entire time, and we just didn't realize." Luna said.
I forced my eyes open to find a sight I never thought I would ever see. There were two dragons standing above me, but they had four wings each and looked exactly like Butterflies' wings, Iridescent with tiny scales.
"Wha- what are you?" I asked them.
"We're silkwings! But what are you? Oh, your friends are fine. They're in the other room, because males don't tend to be very calm when they wake up in a strange place." Luna said cheerfully.
"I need to see them." I demanded.
I need to see Hurricane.
"Ok, sure. We'll walk you over there." Swallowtail said, helping me up. "Also, what's your name?"
"DreamCatcher."
"Cool name. Weird, but cool."
"How is it weird?"
"I don't know, it's just, not like ours. You should have a shiny name."
"But I don't want a shiny name. I'm more of a nightwing than a rainwing.
"What are those? Are they other tribes?" Luna asked, tilting her head.
"Yeah. Do you have any other tribes on this continent?" I said, suddenly interested. "Do you even have animus dragons?"
"We do have other tribes, but we don't really know anything about them. What's and animus dragon?"
"Oh. Um. Magic dragons."
"Magic dragons." Swallowtail said, rolling her eyes. "Wow. So real. And I assume you don't have one of them on you?"
"Actually..." I said, rubbing my neck nervously. "I'm an animus."
Should I have said that? What if they ask me to enchant something for them? They won't believe me if I say it eats my soul.
"Uh huh. Then prove it." Luna said stopping and turning to me, grinning slightly.
"But if I enchant something else, I might massacre everybody because the magic makes me loose my soul when I use my magic too much."
"Then show us something you enchanted earlier."
"Ok!" I said, brightening,
That was so simple! I can just show them my soul reader!
"I made a soul reader. It shows how good you are. How about I read one of your souls?"
"Ummm..." Luna said, looking uncomfortable. "Sure?"
"Your soul can't be that bad." I said, seeing her expression.
"Does being a bad girlfriend count?" She asked, looking at Swallowtail.
"You are not a bad girlfriend! You just made a few mistakes, that's all. I still love you." Swallowtail said, looking at Luna warmly.
What? I thought.
Then they noticed me.
"Sorry about our mushiness. How about you show us your soul reader thingy?" Luna said quickly.
I stopped staring. "Ok." I said, pulling my soul reader out of my pouch.
I pointed it at Luna. Only two or three grains of white sand.
"No! I'm evil!" She wailed, looking like she just saw a ghost. "I knew I did something bad!"
"Oh, I forgot to explain it. Black sand is good, and white sand is bad. If you only have a few grains of white, that means you did something like stealing the last piece of cake at a party when you already had one or something like that."
"Ok." Her face melted with relief.
I pointed it at Swallowtail. The exact same amount of white sand as Luna had.
"So why'd you make it?" Swallowtail asked.
"Oh. Umm... no reason. Just wanted to see something, that's all."
She shrugged. "Ok, that's cool."
"DreamCatcher?" Hurricane called from down the hall. "Is that you?"
"Yeah!" I called back. "I'm coming!"
I sprinted down the hall, not caring what I looked like doing so, only wanting to see him.
"Hurricane!" I said, hugging him.
"What happened? Where are we?" He asked, looking around the room.
"The mind reading thing happened. We're on a whole new continent! Apparently, its called Pantala. Also, another dragon tribe! look!" I said, pointing at Luna and Swallowtail.
"Whoah, slow down with the facts. Repeat what you said more slowly." He said.
"The mind reading thing happened, and we're on a new continent named Pantala, with a new dragon tribe called silkwings." I said as slowly as I could. "Got it?"
"Yeah... but why super slow?"
"Because you ASKED, sloth brain!"
"I didn't mean for you to say it THAT slowly!" He laughed.
"Then you should have told me you wanted me to explain it like that."
I noticed Blizzard in the corner of the room, snoring.
"Should we wake him up?" I asked Luna and Swallowtail.
"No, let him sleep. I accidentally dropped him on the way here." Luna said, ducking her head guiltily.
"You dropped him?" I asked.
"Sorry. Is he your boyfriend? It looks like the two of you are together."
"No, he's just my friend." I said, looking at Hurricane.
"Huh."
"Also, how can you tell when he's asleep?"
"She usually has a knack for figuring out stuff like that." Swallowtail said.
Blizzard sat up. "Mom? Can I have a seal for breakfast?" He said sleepily.
"Yes dear!" I said, giggling.
Now Hurricane was shaking with silent laughter, rolling on the ground and covering his snout with his talons.
Blizzard opened his eyes. "Mom where's th-" He saw Hurricane on the ground, shoulders shaking. "You two are pure evil."
Hurricane was still laughing hysterically. "Son of the worlds' most serious prince, and you're calling for your mother to bring you a seal?"
Blizzard glared at him. "My brain was off the hook. You cried when DreamCatcher passed out. Don't think that I didn't see that, mr. nobody-can-see-me."
"Ok! Enough arguing, hatchlings!" I said to them in a baby voice. "Or mommy will give you a timeout."
"You three are truly fascinating." Swallowtail said.
Blizzard looked around the room, trying to figure out who said that. When he saw Luna and Swallowtail, his eyes popped and he jumped.
"What's going on!" He yelled, crawling into a corner. "What are they?"
"They're silkwings, the blue one is Luna, and the pink one is Swallowtail." I said.
"What's a silkwing?" He asked.
"They're another dragon tribe."
"Ok... but you have to tell me what they are, other than dragons."
"Three MOONS you are unbelievable. They. Are. Dra. Gons. Nothing more, and nothing less." I sighed exasperatedly.
He still looked unconvinced. "Then how'd they end up looking like that?"
"OH, MY GOODNESS, YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST DRAGON ON THE PLANET! ThEY LOOK LIKE THAT BECAUSE OF SCIENCE! ACCEPT THAT!" I roared.
"Ok! Just, don't kill me." He said, wincing.
"She's not going to kill you. It's just that you're being a bit thick, mate."
"How am I being thick? I just said that they look weird."
"She explained it to you, and you repeated what you said before."
Blizzard shrugged it off. "Sure."
"How did we get here?" I asked. "One minute we were at Jade Mountain, the next, we got here."
"It was definitely an animus. Only they have the power to instantly transport somebody to a completely different place." Hurricane said.
"Wow, Hurricane, we definitely did not know that before you told us. So wise." I said sarcastically.
"Hey! I was just saying my thoughts out loud." He replied, nudging me.
I ignored him. "What we really need to know is how we got here, and why we got here. The fastest way to know is by casting a spell."
"No spells! We need to find out lik normal dragons and-" he was too late.
"I enchant this leaf to make the dragon who brought us here to instantly appear in front of us." I said, seeing a large, slightly rotten leaf lying on the ground.
What was in front of me was not what I had expected. "Y- you? I thought you were dead!"
