Chapter 2
Ryan walks into the silent police station. It is weird that nobody is here since the station is usually bussing with life - phones ringing, people chatting and convicts grumbling in their cells.
He silently walks over to the front desk, to find it just as empty.
A man appears in Ryan's vision. He looks old, although not old enough to retire. He is wearing a police suit.
"I'm sorry. I will have to ask you to come another time." The stranger demands with his arms crossed.
Now that Ryan thinks about it, the suit and the old look resembles a sheriff.
But the sheriff's command makes him angry. "This isn't a problem that can wait. Lives are at stake."
The stranger rolls his eyes at his answer, "Look I don't care about your problems, just go!" And with that, he turns around about to walk away when Ryan follows him on pure reflex. As he stands on the other side of the desk, he sees what it had saved him from seeing.
Ryan's mouth practically hangs open in shock, and a small gasp escapes from him. The weird- sheriff-looking, man, turns around, and when he sees the young eighteen-year-old boy, trying to grasp the sight before him, he sighs, "I told you, to walk away." He takes out his gun, and before Ryan even can react, he has slammed it right in his head.

Mila runs out of the coffee house with a fuming Peter right on her heels. Fortunately for Mila, she has been working out ever since the night at the bridge where she couldn't keep up with him.
The streets are a blur, and people are moving to make room. She knows it's a stupid idea to look back, but she has to make sure that he's still with her.
Although she has been spending a lot of her time in the gym, it doesn't seem to have had the effect it should've had. Peter is right behind her, almost an arm's length.
Mila has to think fast. She has to lose him, so he runs past the police station, only to find Ryan, and hopefully, a police officer who can arrest him.
Irina, her best friend, suggested why she hadn't just called the police and make them come after him, without making this whole show. Mila wished it could have been that easy, but the second the sirens would have ringed outside Peter's house, he would be gone. So, therefore, this was the best idea they could come up with; Mila had to ask him to meet her while Ryan would explain the problem at the station. Then Mila should somehow make him angry, and make him follow her - hence what she is doing now. And at last, he would run past the station where the officer and Ryan would stand guard.
Mila runs across the courtyard in front of the public courthouse. She looks behind her and can see that Peter is having trouble getting through the packed people mass.
That one second she looks away, she collides with another human being.
The stranger steadies Mila as she gets over the shock. "I'm extremely sorry." She lets out while holding her hand over her sore forehead.
"It's okay."
Mila immediately registers the voice as a male.
A familiar male.
She slowly opens her eyes and comes face to face with a certain blue-eyed beauty.
"Jace." She breathes.
He hasn't changed one bit. His chocolate brown hair is still cut short - the bangs a little longer. Strong jaw, newly shaved. His blue eyes, shining brightly. He is truly gorgeous. Peter wasn't wrong when he used the term "pretty boy".
He gives her a small smile but not one who reaches his eyes.
Jace will never forget the day he came over to Mila's house. The police were scattered all around, and the ambulance carried a dead body. They told him, they didn't know if there were more bodies buried in the remains. They kept looking for nearly 12, hours, but they found nobody. He remembers, thinking "thank god, she isn't dead."
The next day, he got a "pleasant" visit from Peter.
He then found out that Mila and the remaining of the family had run away.
His heart still aches today from the betray she left. He knows it was necessary to run, but that doesn't remove the pain it caused.
After just staring at each other Mila eventually remembers the psychopath chasing her. She looks over her shoulder and panics when she can't seem to spot him in the crowd.
"Mila!" Peter roars between the crowd. He isn't as small as Mila is, so he can't run through them as she did.
Mila turns her attention back to Jace who tenses at the roar. "I have to go, Jace." She says with a sad smile, quickly untangling herself from his hold and running away.
Peter finally gets through and sprints over the courtyard.
Jace doesn't want to go into all that mess again, yet he finds himself running after them.

"Hello!?"
Ryan's head pounds, but he still remembers the voice. It's a bit higher than the usual soft voice, but there's no doubt that it is her.
"Mila?" He croaks.
He squirms over to the bars holding him hostage. He needs to tell her to get out of here before he catches her. Or even worse, kills her.
"Where are you?" She yells once again. He wants to answer her. No. He must answer her.
"You need to get out of here." Ryan lets out. His voice is fragile, and his head is dunking. He tries to stand up, but a piercing pain stops him.
"Mila?" He gets frustrated when he doesn't hear a reply. And when he's about to stand up again, he feels something cold run down his head. His hand automatically reaches up and comes in contact with something wet.
He curses under his breath when he sees the red fluid.
Before he passes away again, he faintly hears a shot, but his last thought is, "Was she worth it?"
♦︎
Mila faintly hears the words; "You need to get out of here.", before a figure, emerges in the corner.
Her breath gets caught in her throat as she makes eye contact with another familiar face.
Jeremy.
Peter's dad.
The bodies, of the dead policemen, are scattered all around her, but she only registers the intimidating man standing before her. He is just as intimidating as he was 9 months ago when Mila and Chelsea tried to report Peter to the police. That, of course, was before they knew who Peter's dad was. Instead of getting Peter behind bars, Mila had to spend 2 nights in there, for as he said, "coming up with false accusations."
"No need to look so shocked, Mila. You should have known that where my son goes, I go." Jeremy says.
"Let me guess. The boy I just met, was here to tell your little story to the police, and then you would deliver "the criminal". Am I right?"
Mila hasn't seen this one coming, and she regrets pulling Ryan in the middle of it.
"I take your silence, as a yes."
Jeremy had been walking towards Mila, without her realising it, and he is now at an arm's length.
Mila can feel cold metal against her stomach, and she knows what is about to happen.
As Jeremy pull the trigger, her last thought is, "Is he okay?"
