Chapter 12: An Update to the Story (Way too Late I'm Afraid)

AN:Super sorry! You all probably hate me now, but I promise that if I do ever give up this story, I will warn you in an AN or something. (I'm not planning on it by the way.)

 Ok,real quick on the media: it still has exactly zero relevance, but I wanted to comment on it. The first version of this that I ever saw was a Boyf Riends, (Micheal Mell/Jeremy Heere from Be More Chill for those who have no idea what I'm talking about.) but I listen to it all the time. After listening to it a few times, I realized something.  The Bro Duet is absolutely the Jercy theme song. So, listen to it and tell me if you agree. Or don't tell me anything about it, but listen to it anyways because its hilarious and showcases two incredibly talented singers.

Now, onto the actual story things. HOPEFULLY, I'll be able to update a bit more frequently. I can't promise that though, because I'm still a procrastinating piece of garbage who can't concentrate to save her life. I refuse to publish an author's note without a chapter, (Besides that one at the very beginning, and even then, I published a chapter on the same day.) but can't keep a consistent update schedule. Please understand and accept my sincerest apologies. I'm doing my best, but my best really isn't that great, so you'll continue to get really spread out chapters with terrible writing! (But amazing media. Really, its not relevant but its awesome.)

This paragraph was written a little while after the first two, and will hopefully further explain my absence. My family has had 2 health scares in the span of 2 months. First, my grandfather, who has a very weak heart had a heat attack (while I was at his house, btw. I stayed there for a few weeks, and couldn't write anything.) Then, my great grandma (who, if you can't tell is very old, so any health scares are very scary.) fell down the stairs and broke her neck. Both are alive, and doing much better, but them getting hurt kind of put a damper on my creativity.

Also: Season 13 can only be described in this: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Not even the plot really, since its just SPN + Percy.

Sam POV

The station was tiny, not that Sam Winchester was expecting much else. The nice thing about the size was that it didn't take long for the sheriff to come to the front. The two hunters, as well as Percy, flashed their "badges".

"Now what does the Federal Wildlife Services care about a few accidental drownings?" Jake Wexler, the sheriff, asked.

"You so sure they're accidental?" Dean asked raising an eyebrow. "Will Carlton saw something grab his sister."

"Like what?" the sheriff started to walk back towards his office. "Here sit please sit." Jake said, moving to stand behind his desk . "There are no indigenous carnivorous creatures in that lake." The three false agents tooka seat. "Even if there was, there's nothing big enough to drag a human down. Unless it was the Loch Ness Monster."

"Yeah." Dean chuckles.

"Right." Sam nervously laughs.

The trio glanced at each other.

"Look, Will Carlton was traumatized, and sometimes the mind plays tricks." Sheriff Wexler said. "Not to mention, we dragged that entire lake, used sonar scan just to be sure. There's nothing there. "

Percy interrupted. "That doesn't seem weird to you? The bodies just, disappearing? That's not normal."

"You think I don't know that?!" the sheriff exploded. Then he took a breath, and sat. "Look, these are my friends, my family, going missing. People I care about."

"We know." Dean said.

"Besides, all this, won't be a problem much longer." Jake sighed.

"What do you mean?" Dean asked, quirking an eyebrow.

Please Dean, don't mess this up. Sam thought, watching the interaction between his brother and the sheriff.

"The dam, of course."

"Ah, yes, its, sprung a leak." Dean said.

"It's falling apart, and the feds won't give us the grant to replace it. Soon enough, there won't be a lake, or a town." the sheriff said, looking at the trio suspiciously. "But you already know this being federal wildlife."

Well Dean, it looks like you managed to mess it up.

"Did you really forget to read your file, again?" Percy said, turning to Dean. "As well as not pay attention during the briefing? One of these days that's going to bite you in the ass."

Just then, a pretty young woman with dark hair walked into the room. "Am I interrupting something?" The three sitting opposite of Sheriff Jake stood up. "I can come back later."

"Rangers, this is Andrea, my daughter."

Dean was quick to introduce himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Dean."

Andrea gave him an awkward half-wave. "Hi"

"Hi," Dean said, deciding for whatever reason to greet her once again. (Sam knew exactly why, but was unwilling to admit it. He was already upset enough with Dean, and didn't really need this too.)

It appeared that the sheriff also had some idea of what was happening as well, because he was quick to cut in. "They're with Wildlife services, about the lake."

Andrea nodded. "Oh."

At that moment, a small boy walked out from behind Andrea's legs. Dean immediately stooped down to be at eye-level with the kid. "Hey there, what's your name?"

Andrea rose an eyebrow at Dean, "His name's Lucas," Just after she said that, the two moved into the main room and Andrea handed him some crayons.

Percy looked worriedly at Lucas through the window, "Is he okay?"

Sam couldn't help but agree with her, Lucas was sitting far too quiet and still for a boy his age. Quietly coloring despite the hustle and bustle of the small station. He may have been shy, but even with that, he'd likely being a little more active, glancing around, or something. Lucas was perfectly quiet and still, and to be quite frank, it unnerved Sam a bit.

The sheriff looked sadly at the pair, "My grandson's been through a lot," he sighed, "We all have."

He stood up and made his way to the door to his office, "If you need anything else, just let me know." With that, the four left the office.

"Thanks," Dean responded, "Now that you mention it, could you point me in the direction of a reasonably priced motel?"

Andrea nodded, "There's the Lakefront Motel, if you go around the corner its two blocks south."

Dean nodded, and in that moment, Sam knew exactly what was going to happen. Dean was going to flirt with Andrea again. "Two blocks... Can you just show us?"

Sam shook his head, and he could have sworn that he saw Percy roll her eyes.

Andrea laughed, "You want me to walk you two blocks?"

Dean smiled, "If it's not too much trouble."

Andrea rolled her eyes, "I'm headed that way anyways." She turned to her father, "I'll be back to pick him up at three." Then, she turned to her son and bent down to his level. "We'll go to the park, ok sweetie?" Then Andrea kissed Lucas on the head. The boy didn't respond. What happened to this kid?

The three left, Dean waving to the people still in the station. "Thanks again," Sam said. Then stepped out the door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This line break is disappointed in the author~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Percy was trailing behind the group as they were being led to their hotel. She hated to admit it, but she couldn't really keep her mind on the case. She had yet to figure out why she had ever gone to Stanford, the more she had thought about it, the more she was absolutely certain that she had never sent in an application. She wasn't sure why she had so eagerly attended once she had been accepted. Usually, she was pretty tuned into traps, but the more she thought about it, the more she was certain that no alarm bells had rung when she was accepted.
What a seaweed-brained move.
Percy froze, stopping dead in her tracks. She had been able to avoid thinking about Annabeth, or at the very least think about he sparingly enough for it not to affect her very much, and had moved on from everything that happened in that time, well as much as she could. But hearing her dead girlfriend's voice while dealing with everything else was too much. Her vision started to go dark, and she began to get dizzy. She was slipping, falling into the deep dark blackness when she felt a hand on her shoulder and heard a familiar voice.
"Hey Perce, are you ok?" Percy was suddenly being pulled out of the darkness. She looked around, seeing Sam first, he was the one that had managed to pull her out of the impending flashback. Then she saw Dean and Andrea, both looking at Percy with the kind of concern one feels for someone that they don't know all that well.
Percy smiled gratefully at Sam. "I am now Sam, thanks. I just got a little caught up in everything. It's been a little intense lately."
Sam smiled, "I get it. If you're sure that you're fine then we can keep going. I think that we're just about there."
"Yeah, I'm all good now we can move on."
Percy took a deep breath. She may have been able to ward off the flashback (with Sam''s help of course) but she was not looking forward to her sleep that night.
The group continued to walk, and Percy could feel Sam's eyes on her as she walked along.
"Well, here we are," Andrea said, coming to a stop. "Just like I said, two blocks."
"Thanks." Dean responded.
"Of course," Andrea responded. "It must be awfully hard with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pick-up line." She smiled up at Dean.
Percy, despite still feeling a bit shaky couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped at those words. Andrea sent her a small smile, and then continued on her path.
"Really Dean, 'Kids are the best'? You don't even like kids." Sam said, chucking a bit. Percy wasn't sure if it was that he legitimately thought that she was fine, or if she just knew that acting any differently would only upset her.
"Hey! I love kids." Dean responded.
Sam laughed again. "Really? Name three kids you even know."
Dean scrunched his eyebrows, clearly thinking. Sam scoffed, waved his hands through the air.
Dean scratched at his head. "I'm thinking!" Percy chuckled lightly, then started to walk in, only to be stopped by Dean. "Hey, are you sure that you're alright, I'm not your biggest fan-"
"I hadn't noticed," Percy interjected. This was weird and awkward. Dean hadn't exactly shown concern for her well-being earlier, and the sudden concern was a bit too much.
Dean sighed. "Listen, I may not like you much, but Sam cares a lot, and if you got hurt, he'd be devastated. I don't want that too happen."
Percy smiled, that explained it. "I'm fine, just a little overwhelmed. I just need to sit down for a minute. I don't want Sam to get hurt either, alright?"
Dean nodded, and the two went inside.
