Chapter 11: Water Problems You Say?

A/N: A few things, one, HUGE thanks to @JustAFandomLover for the amazing cover!

Second, my uploads will likely take this long until the end of time and I am deeply sorry for that.

Third HOLY $#!+ 1.7K views?! That's insane! Thank you all for reading!

Finally, I've been wanting to introduce the fact that I head canon Percy as bi, but my aro-ace ass has no idea how to accurately portray attraction. Help please?

Disclaimer: I don't own SPN or PJO, so that kind of sucks. For me, that is. For anyone who doesn't want to wait forever for updates its great!

Percy POV

If Percy Jackson was going to be completely honest with herself, she felt kind of useless. She understood that not everyone could be the hero, save the day, but there was still a little voice that told her that she had to be that person. Maybe she just felt incredibly out of place, this entire ordeal felt like a family affair guest starring Percy as the annoying intruder. But that didn't mean that she could leave. No, Percy had to stay around until she had enough information on the yellow-eyed bastard that had destroyed the one good thing that she had left to get her revenge. In the meantime, Percy would help with the cases, do some good, and save some people. (By Olympus did this feel like old times.)

This was all without mentioning that she was still wondering how long it would be until they found out about her situation, namely, the part in which she wasn't entirely human. (She was half-way glad though, if they killed her, maybe the ache that she'd been carrying around for so long that that she couldn't remember what it felt like to not have it would be gone. Plus, she'd likely be in Elysium.) Of all the ways she wanted to go out, and she'd conceived several, being murdered by her friend and his brother ranked at about #352. (Just above being roasted alive, but just below being stabbed with a slow-acting poison.)

All of this considered, it was no wonder that Percy was relieved to be investigating a drowning. Water was her specialty, Percy's thing had always been fighting monsters, and, with Dean seeming to hate her less, things were looking up. (Or as up as they could be for a demigod in her situation.)

She was pulled out of her thoughts by Dean pulling up to a diner. "It's time to eat." As the group sat in the diner, Percy decided it was time to get an answer to one of her most burning questions. Namely, how hunters found their cases. With demigods, it was the Oracle, or the cases actively seeking them out. With the Hunters of Artemis, they had a goddess to tell them where to go. Something told her that this was different. So, she decided to ask. "In the last case, our dad had sent us coordinates. In this case, and most cases, we look for something odd." Dean threw a newspaper on the table. Percy didn't bother trying to read it. The font was tiny, and her dyslexia was screaming at the thought of trying to decipher what was said. (A/N: Is that how dyslexia works? If anyone here knows, please tell me. I want to be as accurate as possible. (No one else probably cares, but when there are blatant inaccuracies, I find it hard to enjoy a story.))

Percy nodded. "And what's so weird about a few drownings?"

"Well, the bodies go missing. Not even a radar sweep can find them. Not mention, the most recent one was an expert swimmer. Of course, you'd know that if you actually read the article."

Percy looked at him, "I'm not going to take thirty minutes to try and read an obituary, especially when you can tell me what's happening."

"I highly doubt that you'd take thirty minutes to read an article."

"I have dyslexia. Something that I'm positive that I've mentioned before."

Eventually the trio got to Lake Manitoc, a small town with an unnatural problem. One that Percy could help solve, thank the gods. Well, she'd be able to help solve it once Dean got the stick out of his ass.

"I'm not letting you go out there and get killed!" Dean shouted. "Actually, scratch that, you can go out there and get killed all you want. I'm letting you go out there and get me killed. Or Sammy!"

"You honestly think that I'd hurt Sam? The only decent friend I have anymore? If I genuinely believed, even a little bit, that I could do something to put him in danger, I'd stay back. The only person here who I even slightly fear hurting is me." Percy replied. "I know that the two of you can handle yourselves. Besides, we don't even know what we're dealing with yet. For all we know its something simple."

"Its killed three people!"

"Three people who don't know what they're doing!"

"Whatever."

"I'm coming with whether you like it or not."

"You don't even have a uniform."

Percy smiled. "I do in fact, have a suit. Picked it up while I was benched last time. Besides, you said that you're leaving, and neither of you are wearing suits either.,"

"You don't have a fake ID!"

Percy smirked. "I picked like thirty of those up to!"

"You don't know how government officials talk!" Dean was grasping, and Percy could feel it. She was ridiculously close to victory.

"I've been accused of terrorism, do you honestly think no one came to talk to me?" Percy rolled her eyes. "Being questioned by the FBI kind of sticks in your mind."

"I still don't want you coming with."

"Why don't we ask Sam what he thinks?" Percy asked.

"Don't involve me in that." Sam responded, raising his hands. "This is your fight."

"Too late, you're involved now." Percy smiled at him "It's the only to resolve this."

Sam gave her a bitch face. "I think Percy should come. Like she said, the case may be nothing big, and the only way for her to get better is to, y'know, practice."

Dean growled. "Fine." Then he stormed out to the car.

"Sammy, I think he may not like me." Percy said.

"It's Sam. And whatever gave you that idea?"

"I don't know, there's just something with how he talks to me."

Sam laughed. "Hurry up, unless you don't actually want to come?"

Percy was out the door and in the car in a flash.

Dean POV

Dean wasn't sure why Percy had to come talk to the Carltons He didn't trust her, and though his dislike of her had shrunk since the incident with the wendigo, she was still irritating. Luckily the ride was short, and they soon themselves at the Carlton house. They knocked at the door and where answered by Will, Sophie's older brother.

"Hello, Will Carlton?" A small nod " I'm agent Ford, and these are my partners, agents Hamill and Joseph. "All three pulled out official-looking but very fake badges. "US Wildlife Service. Can we talk?" He nodded again, and the group walked through the house. Dean tried to ignore the obviously distressed Bill Carlton. They made it outside and walked to a small area overlooking the lake.

"That's where she got dragged down," Will pointed to a spot on the lake. "About a hundred yards out."

Dean was about to ask if he was sure that Sophie had been drug down when Percy beat him too it. "Dragged down?" Percy asked. "You're positive it wasn't just a drowning?"

"Yeah, she was a varsity swimmer," Will said, "She practically grew up in that lake. She was as safe there as in her own bathtub."

"Of course," Percy said. "We just have to cover all of our bases."

"So, there were no splashes, no signs of distress?" Dean asked.

"No, that's what I'm telling you. She just went under."

"Did you see any dark shapes? Sam asked. "Maybe something breaching the surface?"

"No, but, again, she was really far out there."

"Have you ever seen any strange tracks by the shoreline?" Sam asked.

"No, never. Why? What do you think is out there?" Will asked, looking scared.

"We'll let you know as soon as we do." Percy responded.

"Can we talk to your father?" Sam asked, trying to sound kind.

"Look, if you don't mind, he didn't see anything, and he's kind of been through a lot."

"We understand."

The group went back down to the car.

"Thanks for your help. Cal if there's anything you missed, alright?" Percy handed him a business card.

The "agents" drove away.
