Dear Jesús Manuel,

I met a young woman about my age at my job today. She came with her small son, and as we made casual conversation while I bagged her groceries at the register, I found out she had moved here from Mexico not too long ago. That's the same country you came from, and the way you both described it to me, with so much love, made me long to go there one day. Perhaps we can go together and you can introduce me to your family.

The girl at the supermarket told me her name is Gabriela and she was so sweet and nice to me. She said she was here to support her husband who had gotten a better job here, but that she missed her country dearly. Or at least that was the bit I could understand from her slightly broken english. Mine isn't so great either, but it was the only language we had in common.

I think what drew me to talking to her was the fact that she was so nervous and almost afraid to talk to anyone. And I really wanted to make her feel more comfortable, at least with one person.

Her son reminded me of you, just a little bit, and his name was also Jesús.

I truly wish one day you and I can have children of our own.

Spending the rest of my life by your side is what I would love most because I firmly believe you are the love of my life. Without your love, I just may die.

Sincerely,

Edda Van Horn
