Chapter 9: Jasper Fleming-The President Of Evergreen High

Chapter 9: Jasper Fleming-The President Of Evergreen High

It took us about 5 minutes to reach the auditorium and find a decent seat.

Okay, For Raiden to find a decent seat.

When we entered the room, Clayton stopped by door halting me too. He leaned against the wall by the door, indicating me to wait too, showing the palm of his hand. Before I could question, Raiden walked past us and took a seat at the front of the auditorium.

Most of the chairs were still empty as Raiden claimed that shortcut reduces the route. We walked through a grass path across the building. He said it was a prohibited route for us to use, I shrugged not caring and took a step forward making Raiden grin widely follow me.

Raiden looked up at the stage and frowned moving to another seat and looked up at the stage and around the stage once more and nodded smiling at us, and when his seat didn't bounce as per his wish, he shook his head and moved to a new seat.

And that happened for a few more times.

What the hell is he doing?

"Finding us a seat. Jasper and I knew better than to leave him to find a seat, "Clayton chuckled his eyes following Raiden's every move.

After two minutes Raiden's face morphed into a contented smile, he waved us to join him.

Clayton sighed straightening, "Finally," and walked to Raiden before muttering, "Come on."

I walked towards them, my gaze Snapping unsurely from Clayton to Raiden, "You know I can find a seat somewhere else."

Raiden rolled his eyes and glared at me motioning to the seat beside him, I sighed and sat without further argument.

I looked around the auditorium and found that Raiden has indeed chosen the best place with the best view. Exactly at the center of the room.

The proscenium stage was modernized with beautiful lights color the room. The red cushion seat for audiences was mounted in circles surrounding the stage, contrasted with the teak wood walls.

The air-conditioning blasting through the room making me shiver slightly and sighed sleepily leaning further into the seat.

I resisted the urge to yawn and took the phone to distract myself by seeing if I had any new notifications.

"Don't bro, the hall is filled with cameras and they are closely monitoring us. Usage of phones was also prohibited here, "Raiden pointed out to some cameras and a board at the wall that clearly signed No cell phone use

"Really!"I sighed in frustration and locked the phone inserting it into my pocket.

"Yeah. This is one of the places where all the year students meet so yeah the monitor us closely," he explained and turned to face the stage.

"What will happen now?," I asked as more students started to fill the room and staffs walked around guiding them to the seats.

"Usually the boring stuff, "Raiden shrugged, "But I don't think that will be the case today."

"Why is that?" I asked half turning to face him.

"You will see," he smiled fist-bumping Clayton who nodded in agreement.

Okay

I nodded turning back, and my eyes trailed from one random pattern to another designed on the walls. But my eyes zeroed when someone in a black tux walked towards the stage stopped by the stairs, looking around the audience seated.

I blinked twice at him and narrowed my eyes when his gaze landed on me and the two other people next to me. He smiled.

Raiden jumped from his seat and waved, making him wave back.

Jasper

My Jasper.

My Jasper was wearing a tux.

A tux.

He was wearing a black tux with a sinful red colored shirt completely different from the one he was wearing this morning.

The suited fitted his body perfectly, not very tight and not very loose.

Like it was stitched for him.

Where did he get that?

And damn didn't he looked delicious?

All I wanted was to jump on him and kiss him senseless.

I swallowed hard looking down at my lap and wiping my hands in my pants.

When I looked back up, he was speaking with Hailey pointing out at something in the paper in his hand.

My heartbeat thundered in the chest, as I took a deep breath.

It felt like I was seeing him for the time.

It wasn't the first time I was seeing him in a tux.

But this time, It looked different.

He looked different.

Something about him felt different at the moment.

It felt like I am seeing this side of Jasper for the first time.

He never showed me this side of him.

Him with the aura that resonated with him as the king of the world.

Him standing before the entire school like he was born to guide them.

It made me feel things I haven't felt before.

I never had to feel before.

The one emotion I felt this morning accompanied one other emotion I was having now.

Jealousy accompanied with Doubt

Doubt.

Doubt on what I was doing there.

Doubt on what in the heavens did I do to deserve him.

And what in the hell Jasper was he doing with me?

Me.

Christ.

What the hell is happening to me?

I closed my eyes when I saw a white light flashing before them for a brief second. I  brushed my face with my hands, wiping away and took a deep breath lowering my head.

"You okay twin bro?, "Raiden asked with his hands on my shoulder.

I flinched hard but sighed nodding, "Y-Yeah, I just n-need a minute a-and water. C-can I have some water please?",I stammered, my voice cracking, I had to clear my throat twice before completing the sentence.

He knotted his eyes in concern but nodded standing and walked past Clayton.

I turned to find Jasper whose eyes were already on me. They traveled from me then to Clayton and then to Raiden who was now walking back with a bottle in his hand.

"Here," he gave it and rubbed my back as I took the water and gulped them gratefully.

"Jeez man, When was last time you ate?"Raiden swore, "You look pale."

"If you want to walk out, we can Aeron, "Clayton concerned voice reached me, as I closed the bottle lid, "The closed room normally does that. "

"Last night and It's okay, I am fine," I breathed out returning the bottle and smiled, "Thank you Raiden."

"You are welcome bro" Raiden chirped ruffling my hair making me scowl, he jumped back to his seat dropping the bottle on the floor by his side.

Raiden lifted his hand and send a  thumbs up at Jasper. I looked at him confused on what just happened, "He was the one that pointed out your mini anxiety attack. He is a worrier", Raiden muttered looking at me

I nodded agreeing and looked at Jasper who glared and turned his face away lacking any emotion.

Uh-oh

I am going to get a mouthful from him now.

I smiled sheepishly at him when he looked back at our direction the next time, he glared rolling his eyes subtly thinking no one saw him.

I did though.

busted

My eyes never left him after that. They were following his every move like they were created only to do that.

Even when the principal and others filled the seat over the stage

Even when Mr.Taylor, tapped the mic and asked us to raise for a two-minute prayer for thanking God almighty for giving us this year, my eyes were still on him.

When he closed his eyes, I reluctantly closed mine and thanked whoever up there that blessed me with love of Jasper and his loving parents.

I would have vanished in thin air if not for them.

The principal then made us sit back in our seats and started talking about last year's achievements of the school followed by Mrs.Hendricks sharing the current year's agenda.

Apparently, there was an interschool competition that was scheduled for that academic year. The competition was planned for all levels, Academics, and Athletics.

Interesting

Raiden yawned loudly beside me, making me chuckle along with some other students surrounding us.

When another teacher took Mrs.H'splace and started talking about the rules of the school, I was trying so hard to keep my eyes open. But Raiden was lucky he comfortably rested his head over Clayton's shoulder and started snoring.

The principal walked back to the podium after some more events which I zoned out, "Okay students! now it's time for the presidents' inauguration," making everyone cheer and clap.

Clayton tapped Raiden's hand that he rested on the handlebar, making him jump and wake, "It started?" he exclaimed looking at him and around.

"It's starting, "Clayton placed his hand over Raiden turning him to face the podium.

"What's starting?"I whispered to Raiden, "And What inauguration?"

"The president and vice president inauguration happens every year at the first assembly. They will present them with badges as they make a vow to their duties. Traditional I guess," Clayton answered for Raiden, who looked too excited to speak.

Oh

Why didn't Jasper tell any of this yesterday?

Because you didn't ask, a voice in my head answered the question.

"First up, The Committee leader for the freshman year, Landon Faulkner," a girl whom I have never met before announced through the mick and everyone cheered and clapped for him.

"She belongs to Senior-C class", Raiden whispered to me clapping.

I nodded and clapped along with others and looked back as a guy who looked like a Freshman walked up to the principal and shook his hand. The Principal then pinned something in the guy's breast pocket. It looked like a small badge in red color.

The committee leaders for both sophomore and Junior year were girls and they were given with blue and violet colored metallic badges respectively.

All three of them walked and waited near the podium, and faces the audiences in at ease position.

Everything looked new, organized and different to me. But from the looks of Raiden and Clayton, they pretty much got used to these events.

"Next up is the Committee Leader for Senior Year and the Vice president of the Students committee. Hayley Peterson, "Raiden whooped so hard and clapped his hand. The sound vibrated through the auditorium was louder than it was before for other leaders.

Damn girl

Hayley walked up the stairs and upon reaching the stage, she turned and waved once at the audience smiling, before walking to the principal who smiled and shook her hand and gave her the badge green colored. She nodded at Mr.Taylor and walked to join the other leaders.

When the clap sound reduced, the girl started again, "And last but not the least, Its time for our president to greet us don't you think?" when the students cheered at that she continued," So without any further adieu, Jasper Fleming! The President of Evergreen high student committee."

A roar of cheer vibrated throughout the room, everyone present to witness that stood cheered for their new president.

Both students and teachers.

Raiden and Clayton stood up whooped so loud and clapped, "That our BEST FRIENDS BITCHES".

I laughed and whooped along with them. But when Jasper walked up the stairs, two steps at a time, in all his glory and waved at the audience my hands froze. He looked around the room once more, his eyes traveling from Clayton and Raiden and then to me, his gaze lingered on mine the second longer.

A second when his eyes conveyed everything to mine.

It vanished the stupid Jealousy I had that morning.

It vanished my pathetic doubts and thought that formed in my mind.

Because His eyes showed everything.

All of the love.

All of his love.

For me.

And in that second ,I could only hope that my eyes mirrored the love he had for me.
