Gideon POV

"Without further ado, I would like to call him to join me on stage. Mr. Gideon Gulf Chantara!" Uncle Luke proudly announced to his employees and then looked at me again. He extended his hands and motioned me to go there near him.

Me? Why me? Seriously?

I can see how all employees gasped in their seats and stopped breathing for a few seconds. Can I blame them? They all knew me as the student in training, an assistant, someone they thought was hired to buy lunch for the president. An errand boy! Now me? As president of this big company?

Like seriously?

"Come, Gideon, come on the stage and join me!" Uncle Luke said while giving me the gesture to join him on stage. I was nervous and too afraid, but I knew I needed to follow Uncle, so I tried to smile and act cool with all of this. My knees are shaking! Every step I make feels so heavy that I might fall down in front of everyone.

After a few hard and unsure steps, I arrived on the stage. All the directors standing behind Uncle greeted me as if they knew me before. I can only smile at them as my response. Fuck! All these eyes look at me like I'm someone they don't expect to have this kind of privilege and responsibility.

"I'm sorry about this, Son. I know your opinion, but Your auntie and I talked about this. You are the only person we can trust! You know how much this company means for Mew! I will explain everything at home, but please bear with us for a while!" Uncle said to me in a low voice, almost like a whisper. He looks so desperate. I smiled at him as if I didn't have the heart to say no to him. I just nodded as an answer; he smiled widely, then turned around to look at INF employees again.

"Many of you, I know, will question this appointment, but let me tell you all now. Gideon Gulf Chantara is not just a mere student like most of you know. Gideon is someone important to my family and me. He is my Son's Best friend. His family and Mine are good friends. My wife and I consider him our son and family member. He also owned 10% shares of the whole corporation. So please, give him the respect you are giving my son and me. I will email all the details of his appointment to all of you. Kindly read it to know the complete details of these sudden changes. Are we clear on that?" Uncle said with much authority while I was staying beside him.

Fuck! I think my face looks red now! I feel so overwhelmed and so unsure about everything that is happening. They are happening so fast that it's hard for me to follow. I'm not ready for this! How can I handle all these people and duties? I saw how tiresome it is for Mew; now, it's my responsibility. What the hell?

All the employees inside the Auditorium say Yes to Uncle Luke.

"I look forward to all your cooperation regarding these changes. That is all for now! You may now go back to your stations, and again good day to all of you!"

Auntie Vanessa and Uncle explained how they came up with this decision.

Even before Mew left, the company encountered some sensitive issues. Someone inside the company is destroying many of their projects. Someone killed Mew's developed program when I worked with him on one of their biggest clients. It's good that Mew was able to fix it on time because if not. It will undoubtedly impact INF! They don't know who is responsible for those acts or the motive.

They have already checked their competitors, convinced that no one will dare to hit the Ayutthaya because everyone knows how powerful their corporation is. I was also stunned when I heard all of that myself. I can't believe someone from the company will do this to INF and Mew. The person is not afraid for his life. Challenging an Ayutthaya is like a cat trying to fight a lion. The Ayutthaya is the lion! I know that no one is more powerful than this family in this country. Even the government is trying to be on this family's good side. That person has some guts to do this.

They decided to hand over the company to someone who is a family and whom they can trust! They didn't know anyone besides me they could trust the company Mew took care of for years.

After learning this, it made me realize the gravity of Mew's responsibility. It doesn't involve and rotates only on the Ayutthaya, but most significantly, it involves hundreds of thousands of people's lives that are working for them. Those lives at stake in every decision that Mew will make can affect many people.

I can't help but respect him more! I salute him for being able to fulfill all of there. I thought his life was so easy because he owned everything that every man can only wish they had. He achieved many things, that he must put all his awards in a separate room because it's too many to be displayed in his room alone. I thought he had a perfect life, but I'm mistaken by his physical appearance, attitude, and how he acted like everything was so easy. Mew's life is not easy! I can only hope Allyssa appreciated him! She hurt him and went somewhere without letting his loved one know where.

Now I understand everything.

Ever since that day, everything's changed. As in everything! I admit I feel so pressured with all the responsibilities I have right now. I feel so overwhelmed that sometimes I want to puke, but thankfully, I can still survive daily here at the office.

I still feel so shy whenever I go out of my office. I can feel that everybody looks at me, and most judge me on how someone as young as me can handle this huge company. I tried my best to hide my feelings and show them that I could control everything. My authoritative look, as Ms. Anne calls it.

But seeing how people see me, I can't help but think if my efforts are enough! Some are happy, but some are still hesitant to trust me. I can't blame them because I haven't proven anything yet. Despite this, Ms. Anne told me to ignore them because I could not please everyone. I must do my job well to prove to them that I deserve this and Uncle Luke's trust.

I have been doing my best these past three days. In parallel, I am trying to do my new responsibility here at INF as the acting president and, most importantly, to continue my search for Mew. I know Uncle Luke already hired someone to do it, but I can't stay on my chair and keep waiting for news about Mew's whereabouts! It's killing me.

I don't want to disappoint Uncle Luke, and I also want to prove to other people who think I didn't deserve this. I know I'm just a student and had to learn more to become successful, but I'm not named after my grandpa for anything. I will prove them wrong. Also, I didn't want to tarnish Mew's reputation, so I had to continue to work on his path.

I will do my best to make him proud.

I'm currently staying here at Mew's office in the meantime. I'm now checking all the contracts brought to me by Ms. Anne to be reviewed and signed.

I didn't realize it was already evening when my phone rang.

Mew calling!

Omg! Finally!

"Mew? Is this you? Where are you? Did you know how much your family and I have been looking for you? Auntie and Uncle are so worried. I'm so worried! So, please tell me where the hell you are right now!" I said to Mew, almost like I was shouting at him.

"Sir, Hello!" I was confused because a different person answered me from the other line.

"Who are you? Why do you have Mew's Phone?" I questioned the caller.

"Hi, Sir! This is one of the employees here at Secret Garden's Resort. Do you know the owner of this phone? I've called to inform you that the man who owns this phone was drunk and sleeping at our resort's bar. We tried to wake him up, but he was not budging. Would you please go here? We don't want to call the police about this. He was involved in a fight. Thankfully we manage to separate them before it gets worst. Your number is the last one who called him, so we decided to call you before we got the police involved. Could you help?"

"Yes, I know him! Please don't take him to the police! I'm on the way now. Please take care of him for me!" I told him that he had just agreed with me and said thank you. I dropped the call and hurriedly went to the resort where Mew is right now.

Why are you at the resort, Mew? If you've been there all along? But why did they say that you were not when I called them to ask if you were there?

What's happening?

But actually, I don't care about anything right now. I don't care where you are or what you did do. The important thing is that I now know where you are, and I know you are safe!

Finally, I found you! I thought I'd lost you forever! Thank you for being safe!
