Chapter 2

*Zoe's P.O.V*

"I'm your brother, Zoe." Andy told me. I just stared at him.

"Prove it." I said. How do I know I can trust this guy?

"Okay, um... You were born on August 26th 2000 at exactly 2:57 AM." He said.

"How... How do you know that?" I stuttered in awe.

"Because I was there, Zoe." He said, "I'm your older brother."

I continued to stare at him, before I wrapped my arms around his neck, probably taking him by surprise a little.

"I didn't think it would be this easy to find you." I mumbled into his shoulder.

"I didn't think I would ever find you." Andy said, wrapping his arms around my skinny waist. "God, you're tiny. When was the last time you ate anything?"

"I don't know." I said honestly. Even before I ran away, I was never properly fed.

"Right, stay here." Andy told me. I obeyed and stayed sat on the couch. Andy left the room and came back a few minutes later with a bowl of cornflakes.

"If you haven't eaten in a while, I'm not gonna force a huge meal down your throat, but this should be a good start." He said, handing me the cereal.

"Thanks." I smiled. I started eating, but only managed to eat half of it. Andy understood and took the bowl into the kitchen. He came back into the living room, where we just talked.

"Zoe, can I ask you something?"

"Go ahead." I said.

"Why are there bruises all over your body?" He asked. I tensed up and looked anywhere but at Andy.

"They're from where I got hit the car." I lied.

"Zoe, I'm not stupid. Those marks aren't all that fresh." Andy looked at me with concern, "You can tell me, you know. We may have only just met, but I'm still your brother."

"Okay, fine," I started, "They're....they're from my foster father." I blurted.

"What? You mean he..."

"Yes," I confirmed, tears filling my eyes, "H-he hits me... He abuses me. That's why I ran away."

"Zoe..." Andy trailed off, his voice cracking. I let a tear fall but furiously wiped it away. I hate crying in front of people. Andy wrapped his arm around me, only for me to flinched and push him away.

"Do I have any other brothers or sisters?" I asked, desperate to change the subject.

"Yeah, you have another older brother, Robert and an older sister, Victoria." He told me.

"Can I meet them?" I wondered, looking at Andy hopefully.

"Yeah, course. Vic works in the local pub, The Woolpack, so we can go over there and see her now, if you want?" He suggested.

"Okay, but... I don't really want to go out looking like this." I said shyly, looking down at myself. My clothes were ripped and battered and my hair was a greasy mess. It was obvious I'd been on the streets.

"Follow me." Andy smiled. I followed him upstairs, and into one of the bedrooms, where he pulled out some clothes.

"These are Victoria's. She left them here when she last stayed, I'm sure she won't mind you wearing them. They might be a little big, though." He said, handing me a peach/orange top, a pair of skinny jeans, a grey cardigan and a pair of brown ankle boots. He also gave me a belt for the jeans. I thanked my brother and had a long, overdue shower, before changing into the clothes.

They were a little big, but it was better than the clothes I'd been wearing for the past I don't even know how long. Once I was ready, I met Andy downstairs and we left for the Woolpack. I can't believe I've actually found my real family.
