Chapter 11
Warning: Blood
I woke up in a padded room. I didn't know what color it was, because I was in too much pain to open my eyes. I assumed it was the red one I always go to, but when I finally got myself to open my eyes and look around, I noticed that my surroundings had changed. I didn't want to get off the floor, as the pain was overwhelming, but I could still get a good look at where my mind was captive. It was horrible. The walls of the padded room were pitch black, with blood seeping through the cracks in the wall, and more of the warm, red liquid dripping from the ceiling. The floor was pooling with it, but no blood got close enough to stain my clothes. It was as if the blood was avoiding me, like a two magnets, both with the same charge. I closed my eyes again, praying for the agony to stop. I could hear laughter in the distance, slowly getting louder, closer, and as it did the blood would get thicker, colder, until I woke up to screaming.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was on the floor, glasses on crooked. I sat up groaning, holding my head to help keep it up against the migraine. My whole body ached. The screaming I heard was now mixed with crying, and it was coming from behind me. I straightened my glasses and turned around, only to see a bloody, bruised, and cut up Seto, bawling his eyes out. He was hiding behind the binding chair. "P-please d-don't-t h-hurt-t m-me." His words were barely audible.
"Seto! What happened?!" I asked, fearing the worst and already knowing the answer. My words had caused Seto to calm his tears, and look at me. "I-ian?"
"Yah dude. It's me. Derp is gone now. You have to tell me what happened." I placed a hand on his shoulder, causing him to flinch. I took my hand away, afraid that I had hurt him.
"Derp is stronger." He wimpered, obviously in severe pain. I didn't want to leave his side. "Th-the Derp I saw before was an animal, but now he is a monster." He could barely finish his sentence before bursting into tears again.
"Shhhh, shhhh, Seto, it's gonna be alright dude." That seemed to calm him down a little. I didn't know how long I'd been out, and we need to get back to the dudes soon, before they do something irrational, but Seto can't exactly go anywhere in this condition, and I don't know anything aout magic, except for the whole all magic comes with a price thing. I picked up Seto, causing him to cringe in pain, but I calmed him down again as I carried him back into the spell room. I hadn't noticed how much blood he had lost until I put him down on a chair and looked at my now blood covered shirt.
'I need to heal him, and fast, before he dies of bloodloss.'
He had stopped crying now, but only because he was focusing his energy on staying alive. "How do I heal you?!" I asked him shakily. Seto murmured something indesipherable in response, and a purple glow surrounded one of the pinkish bottles on his 3rd potions shelf. I sprinted towards the potion, and pulled out the cork at the top as I was returning towards the injured sorcerer. 'If he dies, it's all my fault.' The guilt piled up in my mind as I poured the musty yet sweet smelling potion down his throught. A rosey glow surrounded Seto as all his wounds seemed to heal themselves, closing and returning to their natural color. The mans eyes shot upon, and his mouth formed a grin, until he noticed my clothes. "Oh my god, Ian I'm so sorry!" I shook my head. "No problem dude. A minor sacrifice for a major cause. Besides, I have more." A look of relief washed over his face. Now breathing clearly, he sat up straight. I was curious of what went on in the... room. "So what happened anyways? I woke up and you were hiding from me, all cut up!" I asked. Seto's eyes widened to much I thought his eyes would pop out of his skull. He soon relaxed again and took a deep breath, ready as he will ever be to tell me what Derp did to him.
*****Flashback***** (Seto's POV, just for flashback)
Ian sat down on the enchanted chair, and I removed his glasses. I backed away from him, scared of what may happen, but luckily nothing did. I was so relieved. My spell had worked! I smiled at my friend, and he smiled back, but his face soon contorted into one of pain, no, worse, agony. What had I done?! His eyes went crooked much faster than before, and his screams were so loud I thought I would go deaf, luckily this room had a soundproofing curse performed on it. It takes 2 to perform it, otherwise I would have the entire basement soundproofed, but Brice isn't here. I miss him so much already. Anyways, I was just about to replace the glasses onto Ian's face, when Derp bit my hand, causing me to drop them. I thought they were cracked, but they must of been very durable, as no damage was done. I sighed in relief, but Derp kicked me in the head, causing me to fall back and a bruise to form. His screams were replaced by laughter, loud, taunting, and savage. Derps voice still brought me pain.
As I looked up from the floor, holding the glasses in one hand and my head in the other, I saw I wasn't the only one standing. Derp had somehow broken free from his restraints, but that would work, seeing how he was once an angel. Angels are strong and full of love, but when they go corrupt, they get stronger, but blinder.
He charged at me, growling and waving his arms around like a madman, which he was. I had to think fast. I had fought before, Brice had taught me how as protection, but it was never fun, and noone every gets away unscathed. The only downside is, I can't hurt my opponent. If I do, Ian gets hurt as well. I flew up into the air and formed a sheild around me. Observing Derp, I noted that he has all the same skills as an Angel. Super jump, strength, speed, stamina, basicly everything but sight. 'Wait, don't all Angels have super healing as well?' I thought, then I had a plan. I dropped my shield, and Derp look elated.
"Well, looks like someone finally wants to play!" His voice was sandpaper to my ears, so I cast a filter spell on my ears so the sound would no longer bother me. Derp was eager to kill, so he leaped at me, teath bared and ready to tear flesh. I cast another shielding spell in between us just in time. Next, I made myself completely invisible, except for the glasses in my hand. Finally, I cast an Angels Binding curse on myself, giving me all the skills of an Angel, except for healing. I was just about as over powered as anyone could get, but I was low on magic. I didn't think I'd be needing much anyway. All I needed to do was put the glasses on Derp's face. Speaking of Derp, that beast was trying to eat through the shield protecting me. I lowered the shield and got prepaired to fight.
My opponent struck first, just missing my left leg by an inch. I struck immidietly after, a ball of fire straight to his chest, but he dodged it at the last second and charged right towards me. I dodged his attack the best I could, but he still grabbed a hold of my right leg, biting and clawing at it like some wild animal with rabies. I eventually tore my leg away from his claws and flew into the air to catch my breath. The pain was really bad, but I barely had enough mana (magic) for a healing spell, so I settled for a temporary numbing spell instead. My goal was set in mind. Just place the glasses on his face well enough to cover his eyes, then it's all over, just like last time. Right? I mean, who really knows what that spell did. Maybe Ian is gone, and Derp is here to stay! No Seto. It's gonna be fine, just put on the glasses and you're all good. Gathering as much courage as I could, I leaped back into the battle.
Punches were thrown, cuts and scratches were made. His induries quickly healed, where mine were only numbed. My mana was getting really low, so I tryed one last shot, one last spell. Gravis casus in gravitate pondus I cast a heaviness spell, making him collapse to the floor, but still doing the same to me. Not because I was heavy, but because my mana was so low, and I was so empty, that I couldn't even perform a simple light spell if my life depended on it.
Using the last of my strength, I crawled over to Derp and placed the glasses onto his face. My work was finally done. I sat on the floor, watching Ian's possesed form writh around, but it soon spoke to me.
"A pair of glasses can't hold be back, you fool. I will return, and we will play again, friend."
Then, it stopped. Derp just stopped. Scared and in pain, I screamed and hid behind the enchanted chair. The numbing was beginning to wear of, and the man I had been fighting for so long sat up. I was in alot of pain now, numbness almost gone and my feeling almost fully returned to me. He looked around, not seeing me yet. I was bawling now, but getting too weak to scream. The man infront of me now turned around to see me. "P-please d-don't-t h-hurt-t m-me." I begged and covered my eyes, not wanting to die.
"Seto! What happened?!" The man asked. Well, his voice didn't belong to Derp, that's for sure. My ears were one of the only things not bleeding. Relieved, I stopped crying of fear, and just of pain. "I-ian?" I mumbled out, wanted to confirm it was him, and that Derp wasn't just acting.
"Yah dude. It's me. Derp is gone now. You have to tell me what happened." His words were like medicine, calming my nerves. He placed a hand on m shoulder. I knew he ment well by the gesture, but it caused so much pain it was almost impossible not to scream. He noticed my struggle and removed his hand, looking at me apologetically. "Derp is stronger." I whimpered, still in severe pain. "Th-the Derp I saw before was an animal, but now he is a monster." I could barely finish my sentence before bursting into tears again, images of our battle flashing in my mind. I could feel my blood gushing out. We spoke some more, but my memory was starting to get fuzzy.
I remember him carrying me into my spell room and asking how he could heal me. Wanting to make the agony that was blurring my memory stop, I used the little amount of mana that regenerated while I was resting to faintly make a strong healing potion glow. I was almost gone now, my eyes closed for what may be the final time, but Ian poured the potion down my throat in the nick of time, saving my life. Immediately the healing effects kicked in, making the pain disappear along with my wounds. It was one of the strongest health potions I had, so my energy returned as well. A smile crept onto my now healthy face. I owe Ian my life.
