'Hey, brother! There's an endless road to rediscov-!'
Thump
Your hand came down blindly on your phone as you were pulled unceremoniously from your sweet sweet slumber. You fumbled for your device in the dark, squinting against the screen's unforgiving glare. It was Gabe, which you already knew based on the ringtone. You were cheesy with your ringtones, to say the least.
"It had better be good for you to wake me up at-" you pulled your phone back to check the time. "Three fifteen Gabe or I swear to God I'll take Gaianon from you and eat all of your favourite ice cream."
'Creative, but it's not Gabe.'
"Lui?" You squeaked, suddenly grateful that he couldn't see how red your face had become. Then it hit you. Why was Lui calling you so early in the morning? "Lui where's my brother?"
'He's drunk,' Lui replied.
"Oh thank God, I thought it was serious" you sighed, falling back onto your pillows. "So what's the problem then?"
'We came here from your house remember?' He reminded you.
How could you forget? Gabe had wanted to get changed. What he hadn't told you was that Lui would be coming with him, and he had neglected to warn you that his friend was looking damn fine and more so than usual. He'd been dressed in a pair of dark pants and heavy looking steel-capped boots, as well as a dark blue shirt that had the top two buttons undone. You'd taken one look at him and felt your mouth go dry, before burying your face in your book and pretending to be disinterested.
"Can't you drive him?" You groaned. Normally you'd leap at the chance to see your blue-haired fancy, but you were exhausted.
'I've had a few drinks too,' Lui admitted after a long pause.
"Well can't he stay there the night?" You tried, not wanting to leave the comfort of your warm bed if you could help it.
'He's insistent on going home,' Lui countered. 'I'm kind of offended.'
You couldn't help the small snort that tore its way out of your throat. It seemed that an intoxicated Lui was a fun Lui. You didn't think you'd ever heard him make a joke before. Not one to you at least.
"82 Amberly, yeah?" You checked, repeating the address that Gabe had mentioned in reference to Lui, just to be sure.
'That's it.'
"I'll be right over then," you said, hanging up the phone and taking a moment to pat yourself on the back proudly for managing to have an actual conversation with your crush.
You dragged yourself out of bed and stretched, grabbing an old jacket from the foot of your bed and zipped it up partway so you wouldn't need to bother changing. You passed by the bathroom and splashed some water on your face to wake yourself up better and grabbed the keys from the small side table in the front hall. Slipping your feet into a pair of worn joggers, you reflected on how lucky the two of you were to be essentially living on your own.
Yourself and Gabe didn't exactly have the best relationship with your parents. They were always working and never had any time for the two of you. They might have hired nannies, sure, but when it came down to it, you and Gabe had essentially raised yourselves.
Things between Gabe and your father had gotten worse when you'd both turned sixteen, and by some beautiful twist of fate, your father had purchased a small house in the city, far away from him and your mother. Everything was in your father's name, and technically what you were doing wasn't exactly legal, but your parents trusted you to take care of yourselves. That, or they didn't care.
It was probably the later. In the end, it wasn't really important to you, because for the past two and a half years you'd lived on your own with the one person who you'd do anything for.
Unfortunately, for your brother, your love for him wouldn't keep you from kicking his arse for waking you up at three o'clock in the morning.

"Where is he?" You asked as soon as Lui opened the door, not wasting any time. You wanted to get your brother, make him regret all of his most recent life choices, and get back to bed as soon as humanely possible.
"Hello to you too," he grumbled, but at your pointed stare he moved aside to let you in. You sent him a small smile and stepped through the door into what could only be described as a foyer. You let out a low whistle of appreciation.
"Nice place you've got."
"Thanks." He replied, leading you through an open doorway. "Gabe's just in here."
"Swee-- oh my God."
"I know," Lui winced as you cast your wide eyed gaze around the lounge room, taking in your surroundings. To say that the room was trashed would have been an understatement of epic proportions, you literally had no words to describe what you saw.
Empty bottles were scattered about the room, and discarded snacks littered almost every surface. The sliding glass door that led out to the backyard was off its track and lent against the wall, a t-shirt dangled from the chandelier, a speaker was on its side and there was a mess of confetti and streamers wherever you turned. There was so much more that you could barely comprehend, and there, out cold on the lounge, was your brother. He wasn't your main concern at the moment though.
"How are you going to clean all of this?" You wondered, turning around to face Lui who just shrugged.
"I'll probably be up cleaning for a couple of hours."
"Okay then," you nodded, pushing your sleeves up and blowing a loose strand of hair out of your face.
"What are you doing?" Lui cocked his head, watching you grab an empty garbage bag from the bundle on the glass coffee table and shake it out.
"What does it look like?" You grinned crookedly. You flicked your chin to your brother on the lounge. "Sleeping beauty won't be up for a few hours left and I'm wide awake now."
"I can handle it," Lui argued, crossing his arms and glaring at you, violet eyes glinting. Most people would have backed down at that point, given in and let him get his way. Not you though. Lui might have been Gabe's best friend, but you'd known him for almost as long and his little glares and pouts didn't faze you.
"I'm helping." You told him finally, grabbing a bottle and dropping it into the bag for emphasis. "This one can be for glass."
"Y/n--"
"Shut up," you stated bluntly, narrowing your eyes at him a moment later when he hadn't backed down. "It's the weekend, I can sleep whenever I want. If it's that big of a deal to you then you can get me breakfast, otherwise quit arguing and get over here."
Well, what did you think?
