Drunken Revelations
Alternatively: Drunk Gabe Tells a Secret and Hungover Gabe Must Deal With The Consequences
Almost two hours later and a little past five, you were finally dragging your brother out of Lui's house. Said blue-haired male was on the other side of Gabe, helping you to support his weight. It had taken a lot of time and effort, but eventually, the two of you had been able to have his parent's house back in the pristine condition it had been before Lui's party. The hardest part was without a doubt, getting that sliding glass door back onto its track. There had been a close call where it almost fell and shattered, but you had caught it just in time.
"Thank you."
You glanced at Lui over the top of Gabe's head, but he was staring forwards resolutely. There was a light blush staining his cheeks that made your heart flutter, but you chalked it up to the lingering effects of alcohol still in his system.
"It's no problem, thanks for calling me about Briar Rose. I probably would have lost it if I woke up this morning and he wasn't home."
"Still with the sleeping beauty?" Lui asked, sounding vaguely amused. You gave him a weird look.
"The fact that you know that Sleeping Beauty also went by Briar Rose..." You let your words hang there in the air, allowing their meaning to properly sink in. When they did, Lui was not amused.
"Shut up," he grumbled, but you caught the brief tug at the corner of his mouth and grinned to yourself in silent pride. You reached your car and shifted Gabe so you could grab the keys out of your back pocket. Once it was open, the two of you were able to manoeuvre his hulking form as to actually get him into the car.
"Wass 'appenin?" Gave slurred upon clipping his head on the door frame, still apparently drunk. You winced but rolled your eyes, feeling no sympathy for your older twin. If he wanted to drink himself stupid then this was what he got.
"Shut up and get in the car," you ordered gruffly, shutting the door after him and leaning against the car with a relieved sigh. You opened your eyes and fixed them onto Lui, smiling at him gratefully.
"Thank you again," you offered, not entirely sure what to do now that you were leaving.
"Don't worry about it," Lui said. "Thanks for helping me with the house."
"Don't worry about it," you echoed with a tiny smirk.
Lui scoffed but didn't appear annoyed by your teasing. You stood there, a slight feeling of awkwardness filling the air. You cleared your throat awkwardly.
"I'll see you at school on Monday."
"Yeah," he replied.
You weren't quite sure what happened next, or what made you do it. The only thing you did know what that one second you were leaning up against the car and the next you were wrapping your arms around Lui in a tight hug that only lasted for a precious handful of seconds. You jumped back and muttered a short goodbye, jumping back and hurrying around to the driver's side door.
"Ooooh, you hugged himmmmm." Gabe teased, before giggling like a mad man.
"Don't you start with me," you snarled, ignoring the way your cheeks heated in favour of turning the key in the ignition. You were pleasantly surprised to see that he had managed to click his seatbelt in, you pulled your own across your chest and pulled out of the driveway, eyes flickering to the rearview mirror where you saw Lui's figure watching you drive away.
As soon as you were around the corner, you enacted your revenge, turning on the radio where one of your CDs was still loaded from a couple of days ago and turning up the music to what nearly bordered on unacceptable. You'd been listening to it on your way home from school when you had the car and the song had already begun.
"SO SO WHAT?! I'M STILL A ROCK STAR! I GOT MY ROCK MOVES! AND I DON'T NEED YOU!" You shouted along loudly, finding cruel delight in the way that your big brother curled up in his seat and clamped his hand tightly over his ears.
"HAVE YOU NO SOUL WOMAN?!" He had to yell above the music to be heard, making him screw up his eyes at his own self-inflicted pain. You glanced over at Gabe and arched a sceptical eyebrow.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You want some sympathy?" You laughed, reaching over to turn down the music so you could at least hear yourself. Gabe sighed and relaxed at the momentary lull in all of the noise and the sympathetic little noises you were making suddenly died in your throat. "Well too bad!"
You spun the dial again and rose the volume back up. "I'M ALRIGHT! I'M JUST FINE! AND YOU'RE A TOOL SO, SO WHAT?! I AM A ROCK STAR!"
"I should have stayed!" Gabe howled, sounding suspiciously close to sobbing.
"Well, why didn't you?!" You roared, slamming your foot on the breaks, screeching to a halt in the middle of the empty street. "I have got enough bullshit to deal with right now and I don't need to be woken up at three in the morning on a Saturday to be picking you up because you're being drunk and stupid!"
"Nawwwww," Gabe cooed, opening his eyes and levelling you with the best pair of puppy dog eyes you'd seen from him since you'd been kids. You were damned if you could ever resist those puppy dog eyes when he gave them. It made you die a little on the inside because you knew you wouldn't hold out.
"What's wrong sis?"
"It's stupid," you groaned, rubbing your eyes with the backs of your hands, suddenly feeling the full force of your exhaustion come slamming into you at once.
"Not if it's worrying you," he countered, sounding oddly sober for a drunk person. Drunk Gabe was a weird Gabe, and he went through more mood swings than a moody teenager. One second and he'd be all deep and philosophical and the next he'd be sobbing over The Lion King, or he'd be giggling off his head about something or other. Drunk Gabe made your head spin.
"It's this stupid secret Santa for Mr Bespoke's class," you admitted, slumping in your seat and uncovering your eyes. "I got Lui."
"Well that's easy," Gabe chuckled to himself. You gave him a weird look.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Just kiss him," Gabe giggled. "That's gonna make his entire year."
"Excuse me?" You exclaimed, just a touch offended and more than a little bit curious. "And what's that supposed to mean dear brother?"
But the only response you got were snores.
🎄🎄🎄
You narrowed your eyes at the figure of your twin as he stumbled downstairs. The house your parents had gotten you was a weird one, to say the least. The first floor was like a large hangout area with a small kitchenette and an island, and a door that led into a tiny laundry. There was a staircase that led upstairs, where there were two bedrooms and a bathroom that you and your brother both shared. The layout of the whole place was odd, but you loved it. You watched as your brother expertly navigated his way around the room on a path to the kitchen. He hadn't noticed you yet. You slipped off the lounge and padded over to the island where you perched on one of the barstools and waited for him to see you.
"GOOD EVENING GABE!" You shouted brightly when you quickly got bored of waking. It was with great pleasure that you watched your big tough brother jump almost a foot in the air and let out a high pitched scream. "How are you tonight?!"
"You're evil Y/n," he swore, half-heartedly glaring at you, dark purple smudges underneath his eyes. It was almost night time and your brother had slept all day. When you had finally gotten home, you ended up dragging him up the stairs and dumping him on his bed before going back to your own room and getting in a few extra hours of sleep. When lunchtime came and went, you had made the very generous decision to let your older brother sleep. It was now twenty minutes to nine and your generosity had worn out
"I know," you smiled innocently, and batted your eyes.
Gabe cast you a look of suspicion, and slowly closed the door to the cupboard he'd been rifling through.
"Do you know where the pain killers are?"
"Right over there," you replied, gesturing to the edge of the island where two tiny white pills were sat next to a tall glass of water.
"What's the catch?" He asked dubiously.
"I mean it's probably not cold anymore, but that's it," you promised him and pouted. "Honestly, drunk you makes sober me do so much for you, but sober you has to go and mess it all up."
"Sorry," he muttered, putting the tablets in his mouth and using the water to wash them down. You bit back a devious smile. Hungover Gabe was much easier for you to dupe.
"So you should be," you sniffed imperiously.
"What can I do to make it up to you?" He rolled his eyes, deciding that this must have been the quickest way to get back into your good graces.
"Was what you said in the car true?" You asked, leaning forward in your chair but trying not to appear too eager.
"Y/n, I was drunk." Gabe reminded you. "You're going to need to clarify it for me."
"Why would Lui want to kiss me?" You huffed.
Gabe did a spit take.
"You're cleaning that up," you informed him.
"Where did you hear that?" Gave coughed.
"From you," you reminded him and cleared your throat.
"I don't know what to give Lui for the secret Santa," you paused and switched over to a near-perfect imitation of your brother's voice. "Just kiss him Y/n, it'll make his entire year."
Your eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Explain."
He said nothing.
"By the way," you began conversationally. "How’s your head?"
"Better, why?"
"Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because those 'painkillers' I gave you were actually sweetener tablets? The real stuff is right here." You took the small box from where it had been concealed in your pocket and waved it tauntingly in front of his face, snatching it back just as quickly when he made an attempt to snatch it.
"Oh no. Because if you, I was up at a ridiculous hour on a Saturday morning. I had to get up and pick you up from a party, all because your drunk ass wanted to come home. Maybe if you'd been up earlier I would have been nicer, but it’s almost nine and you deserve this. Now, I might have just the tiniest shred of sympathy left in me, if you tell me the truth."
"Y/n," Gabe all but whined.
"No," you said resolutely. "You don’t get painkillers, but if you tell me the truth, I'll make you coffee and cook us both something for dinner even though it's meant to be your turn."
"And if I don’t?"
"Well then," you pretended to think, slipping the box into your pocket and taking out a small remote which you grasped firmly in your hand, finger hovering dangerously over one of the buttons. "My finger might, just, slip."
"You wouldn’t," Gabe dared.
"Wouldn’t I?" You smiled beatifically. "Do you really want to take that chance? All it takes is one little push, and suddenly I’ll have One Direction going from every single one of the speakers. Is that really what you want Gabe?"
Gabe stayed strong, but only for a moment. You watched, brimming with self-satisfaction as your twin brother broke. For some reason, One Direction was like hangover kryptonite to your older sibling. You knew it, and you were more than willing to use it if it meant getting you the information you wanted.
"He likes you, a lot," Gabe admitted. "That’s the real reason why we were waiting for you after class yesterday, Lui wanted to, and he wanted for you to come to his party, but he didn’t know how to invite you. You know how he's like."
"Go on," you said eventually, putting the remote down on the countertop but still keeping it close to you so you could snatch it up again if Gabe tried to grab it.
"It’s crazy," Gabe continued, running a hand through his maroon hair, coming to sit beside you. You got the feeling that he was about to release a much-needed vent to you that he had been keeping locked up for a while now. Normally, the two of you would talk to each other about everything, but it was clear that this was something he’d been bottling up, it must have been driving him insane.
"Genuinely crazy. Mostly annoying though. And I’m the only one who he’s told about it."
"That's rough buddy," you winced.
"Exactly. Obviously, he doesn’t talk about it much because I’m your brother, but I catch him looking at you all the time."
"In a creepy way?"
"Think lovesick puppy. I used to hit him for it."
"Percussive maintenance didn’t work?"
"No, it didn’t, I gave that up ages ago. And the only time he does talk is when he’s drunk, that’s why I drank so much last night."
"I was wondering about that," you admitted. Gabe enjoyed going out and having a good time with his mates, but getting to the point where he was passed out like he had been that morning was definitely out of character for him.
"If I had to listen to him going on about how pretty your eyes were while sober, I would have thrown myself off the roof, and not into the pool."
"That bad, huh?"
"That bad."
"Okay then."
It was silent for a complete total of two minutes.
"So what are you going to do about it?" Gabe asked you gently.
"I don’t know," you confessed, leaning against his shoulder. "I really like him."
"You do?"
"Yep," you sighed, sliding the remote away from you, snorting softly when you felt him relax. You shifted and rummaged around in your pocket, handing him two tablets a moment later.
"I thought you said I wasn’t getting any?"
"You’re lucky I love you," was all you said.
I haven't updated since last year, oof 😂 hope you liked this one.
