A/N: I received a message from someone so just to clarify. The reason that I still put someone's P.O.V even though most of the text is in third person is due to the flashbacks. Whenever there is a flashback it is happening to the person who's P.O.V we were in. Sorry if I confused anyone ☹
Taehyung's P.O.V
After finishing Taehyung's personal tour of Kyoto. The seven boys were exhausted and on their way back home.
"Taehyungie, I understand why you moved here. It's amazing!" Hoseok says cheerfully after spending an entire day exploring the place their dear friend has called home for four years.
"Seriously, I'm assuming you picked a house close to the art museum for a reason?" Namjoon snickers at the younger, who has always had a love for artwork
Tae just hummed in response. His heart is so warm listening to all of them talk amongst each other, sharing their day. He loves his life here, in Kyoto. He always wanted to move to Japan but he just never envisioned living here without BTS. Tae was always naïve in that aspect...he just kind of expected them to always live together. Even though he is the one who ripped that option from their paths.
FLASHBACK – 2013, two months before debut.
Jimin "We're all going to live here?"
Hoseok "But it's so small..."
Seokjin "How are we all supposed to fit our clothes in this place?"
Namjoon "We will just have to make do for now I guess..."
"Guys! Think of it this way, being so tight together like this just gives us more chances to spend time together." Tae says with a big boxy grin as he wraps his arms around his hyungs. "It may seem like it sucks right now but I bet pretty soon we won't be able to live without each other!"
The other boys just shrug their shoulders and laugh at Taehyung's excitement. He was surely the light in the group.
END FLASHBACK
I wasn't wrong...it's really hard living without you guys. Tae feels his eyes watering as he remembers the beginning of this beautiful relationship all of the boys have. Quickly realizing he needs to hold back from crying. Everyone is leaving tomorrow...no time for tears!
Jungkook's P.O.V
"Jimin, what time is our flight tomorrow?"
"We have to be at the airport by noon!"
Jungkook just sighs...he really wishes they could stay just a little bit later. Lost in thought he catches a glimpse of the blonde that he can't stop thinking about—noticing one small tear sliding down his face. Why are you always sad, Tae? His phone rings, causing him to break his gaze away from the older.
"Oh, hey"
"Jeon Jungkook did you forget about me?"
Shit! "I'm so sorry Lisa! We just keep getting lost in time. It's pretty late so I'm just gonna head back with the hyungs okay? My flight is at noon tomorrow so I'll see you once I'm back in Seoul!"
He hears her disappointed sigh on the phone... I can't do this.
"Okay Kookie. I won't be home until Monday morning so let's have lunch then okay? I love you. I can't wait to see you."
"I'll see you then! Me too, Lisa."
He hangs up the phone releasing the breath he didn't realize he was holding in.
"Wifey trouble already?" Hoseok nudges the maknae's side, wiggling his eyebrows
Jungkook just smiles awkwardly, trying not to make eye contact with Tae. "I'm not married yet, hyung.." He wasn't sure if he meant that playfully or if he was trying to remind himself that he doesn't have to go through with it.
"Yah! Might as well be Pabo.. you're only five months out. When are you gonna claim your groomsmen anyway?!" Jimin shouts
All of the guys stand there bantering towards Jungkook about his wedding. All of them except Tae, who is doing his best to maintain a poker face despite how sick he feels in his stomach.
"Geez, can you all take a breath? I'm here to enjoy spending time with my hyungs. Not stress over wedding stuff, I'm gonna have enough of that once I get back to Seoul..." He says half-heartedly but still smiling. Hoping not to draw attention to the pain he felt when he said those words.
Yoongi's P.O.V
Once everyone got back they were fighting over the showers. A long day of walking around Kyoto led to Tae having a house full of stinky men. Yoongi and Jungkook were the two who had to wait until last.
"Jungkook-ah, wanna take a walk?" Yoongi suggested even though he knew it wasn't really a question.
Jungkook just nods his head and follows the elder outside. Waiting for the question he knows is coming.
"Alright, what took you and Tae so long to get back? first of all."
"We just lost track of time hyung. Honest." It wasn't entirely a lie. They genuinely just enjoyed each other's company all day. They're alleyway kiss only took up a mere 15 minutes in the five hours they spent together.
Yoongi raises an eyebrow not convinced but decides to let it go. "So what are you gonna do? About Lisa."
"Hyung.. I told you this morning what I'm going to do. I'm going to stay with her. I love her, honest. I don't want to hurt her." Almost in a whisper, as if he didn't want someone to hear.
"Mhm... you love her but not the way you love that man up there." Yoongi says pointing to Tae's balcony where you can see his petite silhouette through the curtains.
Jungkook stares at the balcony for a minute. Dazed. Remembering how amazing he felt last night but snapping out of it whenever he realizes they are standing directly in front of Tae's family name plate.
"Park – 507" swallowing the large lump in his throat he makes eye contact with Yoongi. Who by the way noticed the way Jungkook cringed whenever he looked at the name plate.
Yoongi walks in front of the younger, leaning against the brick pillar hosting the golden plaque. Glance between the nameplate and Jungkook. "If you want to change that, you need to say something now. While you have the chance." He takes a deep breath "But get one thing straight, Jungkook. If you get on that plane tomorrow and walk away from Taehyung. Don't you DARE try to come back for him. The moment you walk away from this house and leave him in there to await his husbands return, you are accepting it."
Jungkook has no words. He feels suffocated all of a sudden and can't really breathe. "I-I know-"
Yoongi feels heat rising to his face and not the good kind. He's pissed. "Seriously Jungkook. You're always gonna be that shy kid aren't you? You're just going to walk away again. Walk away from Taehyung when he's clearly crying out for you! Just like he was four years ago. When he practically begged you to stop confusing him but you just brushed it off... saying you'd always care for him" His words sending sharp pains into the youngers hearts. Jungkook knew that Yoongi was aware of their circumstances but he didn't know exactly how much Tae told him.
"God, I can't watch this shit again." Yoongi scoffs and storms back inside the house. Leaving Jungkook speechless, still staring at Tae's family name plate.
Stupid fucking shit head. Gonna let him go again? You're given a chance and you're just gonna throw it away again.
Jungkook's P.O.V
He sat there for awhile. Staring. Glancing up every so often at Tae's enormous balcony window, wondering if Tae would come out to look at the moon like he had the night before. Surely, he did. Whenever Jungkook saw the older walk outside quietly, he was mesmerized. Taehyung didn't even notice his presence or anyone else on the street. Immediately the gorgeous man just looked right up at the sky. Eyes closed and mouthing words that Jungkook couldn't register but then he saw it again. That tear. DAMN IT! He feels a rush going through his body and runs into the house. Slamming the door behind him not caring that he looked like an idiot.
He began to crack the door to Tae's bedroom whenever he heard him talking.
"Yes, I miss you so much. It's so lonely in our bed without you." Tae giggles
Jungkook swears he literally felt his heart rip in half at the words. He didn't know what was fake—the words Tae was spewing to his husbands or the words he said to him. Frozen, he forgot whatever it was he intended to do when he ran up here and walked away. Head down and heading to his room with Hoseok. Not making eye contact with any of the 5 men that are sitting in the living room staring at him.
Jungkook knew exactly what he needed to do. It started with Lisa.
"I'll be back, hyungs." He mumbled as he ran out the door. Leaving all of the men in the house stunned, including Tae who had just walked into the hallway following his phone call with Bogum.
Third Person P.O.V
Everyone is silent staring at each other before they turn to look at Tae. Who is just as shocked as they are at the urgency in which Jungkook ran out of the house.
"W-what was that about?" Tae utters out quietly
Yoongi just scoffs, sending a glare to the others making sure they don't mention the fact that Jungkook stared into Tae's room just before running out. "No idea.. probably wife trouble."
They all laugh it off, except Tae. He decides to send a text to the younger. Praying it didn't have anything to do with the phone call Tae just received.
Exchanging a few last glances at each other, they all decide to call it a night. Agreeing to have a huge breakfast together in the morning.
Jungkook P.O.V
He was running as fast as he could. His heart was pounding through his chest. He wishes he would've done all of this sooner. He would've saved so much pain for himself and others had he not been such a coward all of his life. It took him staring at a nameplate that was bearing the wrong last name and some harsh words from his hyung to make him realize that he didn't care anymore.
Jungkook has always believed in destiny. He believed the events of his life were already mapped out. It was just up to him to put the pieces together. He thought that he threw away the most important piece but he decided that it was just lost. For a long time. Now that he found it, in a small corner of Kyoto. He was never going to let that puzzle piece out of his sight again. Before he could do anything else, it was time to face the first hurdle.
He could see Lisa sitting on a bench, happily bobbing her knee up and down while glancing at her phone. Feeling sick to his stomach he took a deep breath and felt his phone buzz. He was shocked whenever a familiar name popped up on the phone.
His breath hitched whenever he pressed send and looked up to see Lisa staring at him. The expression on her face drastically different from whenever he first walked up. She knows.
"Lisa"
"Kookie"
"I-I.. erm.. u-uh"
She slowly walks closer to Jungkook, placing a soft hand on his cheek. "Shhh... I know." Her voice cracked "I've always known. I just didn't think this would actually happen." Hiccupping through her words as the man in front of her breaks into tears and falls into her arms.
"L-Lisa, I'm s-so s-sorry. I s-swear I wasn't lying. I really do love you."
Shaking her head, trying hard to fight back her own tears. "I could never have replaced Taehyungie... I knew that. Whenever I met you after Bangtan separated, I could see the pain in your heart. Everyone noticed. Everyone knew. You didn't have to be out to the public for the entire world to see the way you two loved each other." She smiles as Jungkook stares at her with glossy doe eyes. That hold so much regret it almost makes it hard for her to be mad "Kookie.. you're breaking my heart, ya know? I hate you right now but how can I be mad at you when I know you've been living with this pain in your heart for years."
She pulls him up to his feet, resting her forehead on his. Slowly removing her engagement ring and folding it into his hand. Whispering through a cracked voice. "This was never supposed to go to me. We both know that."
They sat there for a few minutes. Just crying in each other's presence. Finally Lisa broke the silence by placing a soft kiss on Jungkook's lips. "I really did love you Jeon Jungkook because of that, I need you to go find your happiness. Don't make me regret giving you up." Jungkook could've swore he's never seen her smile so genuinely.
He just nods his head and turns, running back home. Not to the house on the corner of a street in Kyoto...but to Taehyung. The place that has always been his home. Praying that all of this isn't in vein. Wishing with every fiber of his soul that Tae feels the same way as him.
His phone buzzes again.
