Chapter Nine

Sean and Amy backed away, watching as Dark cried out in pain. He tried to stand but caught himself on the couch. Sean watched as his eyes changed from black to brown. They backed away, expecting him to explode like he was a stick of dynamite. Black smoke flew out of Dark's mouth and into the air. As it flew toward him and Amy, Sean grabbed Amy and held her close to him just as the Saint Benedict Medallion created a force field around them. The smoke attacked them but couldn't even break the barrier. It flew into the air and left the room. We pulled apart and ran over to his body as he fell onto the floor. He'd fallen unconscious. The two picked Dark's body and placed it on the couch. Not a moment too soon, he groaned and opened his eyes. Sean raised an eyebrow, wondering who they were speaking to.

"Dark?" Sean asked.

"Who's Dark?" Mark responded, "My name is Mark. Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Did it work?" Sean asked.

"Worked? What worked?" Mark questioned. He glanced down at the emerald and yelled as he pulled the necklace off and tossed it across the room.

Mark got up from the couch and backed away from the emerald. There were two people in the room, a man with green and brown hair and a girl with blonde. Mark stepped away from them, unable to recognize who they were.

"Are you okay?" the man asked in his thick Irish accent.

"What are you talking about? Who are you? Where am I?" Mark kept asking continuous questions, struggling to figure out what else to say. The two strangers explained everything that had happened, making Mark sit back on the couch. He barely remembered anything after touching the emerald and now here he was sitting in an office that belonged to him and they were talking for a while that Mark tried to put all the pieces together.

"You mean all this happened?" Mark continued. "Everything?"

"Yes, my name is Sean, and this is Amy," Sean said. "If we hadn't gotten that emerald on you, you would have taken over half the world." Mark opened his mouth to say something when a lady he did not know barged into the room. Mark assumed that they used to listen to him since he was their boss. Sean and Amy glanced at each other before taking off running. The guards ran after them, and Mark quickly stood and yelled.

"Wait!" Mark followed the guards, but the woman stopped him. "You've been in a bad fight. You need rest."

"I don't want rest! Whoever you are, they just saved me!" Mark yelled, but the lady forced him onto the couch. When he looked into the woman's eyes, he saw them change black. Mark's stomach dropped. The demon had found a new host.
