Chapter 29

I noticed there was a huge ice chest next to the BB-Q. I had to get some drinks in me, in order to deal with the suspense of what might happen tonight, if I was to see Liam.

I'm sure he has seen me and Levi play with each other in the office, when I leave. From all the cameras he has in there, but the three of us have never been in the same place, at the same time before.

My heart was pumping hard, as I got closer to the BB-Q. When I got even closer, I saw Levi's back. He was topless, with only black board shorts on. He was cooking and talking to the crowd around him.

A table was visible, once some of the men stepped to the side. It had a pyramid tower of shot glasses filled. Some of the men were drinking from it and eating the food that was around it.

I finally got to the ice chest and proceeded to open it, but Levi notice it was me right away. He was still looking at the BB-Q, with an evil smirk on his face.

"Hey! you are not aloud to get into that, until you take a shot first."

Laughter all around me, came from all the men standing around him.

"Ya girl, you must be new here." A random guy in the crowd said.

"Those the rules." Another random guy said.

Laughter again.

Levi chuckled, still not looking at me. I shut the ice chest and leaned into the table. I glared at him, until he finally looked at me.

He was the most handsome man in the crowd. So well defined, with his muscles shining in the sunset. It was hard getting mad at him, when he looked that good. I wasn't going to drink anything, until he explained the rules first.

"Oh Really? And why is that?" I asked, with my nose in the air.

"Oohh." The men called out, looking at Levi and then laughed again.

"That's just the rules. It's been a tradition for years. You can't have anything from that ice chest, until you take a shot first." He said, finally looking at me and winked.

At that moment, I realized why everyone around us was already buzzed. I know I wasn't late. It was still daylight out, not much but some.

I took a glass from the tower and chugged it real quick. I narrowed my eyes toward Levi again and opened the ice chest. He was still studying the food he was cooking and didn't pay much attention to me. I grabbed four beers from the ice chest and walked up to the side of him. With a smirk, I kissed him on the cheek.

"Thanks."

"Oh shit man, she knows the secret!" One random man shouted out.

"Ya, she got you on that one Levi." Another random man said.

I was going to walk off, but he caught me by the wrist and looked at me with sympathy in his eyes. He laughed, setting down his spatula and grabbed me by the waist.

I didn't resist his (Get over here. I want to say something, before you leave.) gesture. He turned me towards the crowd, wrapping both his arms around me.

"Everyone this is Sierra." He said, all happy. "Be careful around her, shes one smart women. Sierra, these are some of the num nuts I work with." He continued, pointing to everyone. "There names are not important. You probably won't remember any of them anyway, if you stay long enough." He said, with another smirk on his face.

The crowd started to laugh, while he put his face in my neck. He whispered in my ear, so no one could hear the last thing he said to me. "You are planning on staying over tonight, right?"

"Yep." I said, with a embarrassing smile to the crowd of men.

"Great! Now take a shot with us, before you take off." He said all loud. He sounded buzzed himself.

"Ya!" One random man shouted.

"Yes that's what I'm talking about." Another random man said.

They all grabbed a shot. Levi grabbed two and gave me one. He held it up, after everyone grabbed one and looked at me with a huge grin.

"Here's to Sierra. Fucking smartest women out here so far. Cheers!" He said yelled and the whole crowd came closer to us. We all banged our glasses together, before gulping down our shots.

After taking our shots, we set them back on the table afterwards. The tower was fading fast, with people coming up from different directions, to take a shot before getting themselves a beer.

It was sort of funny that no one realized the rules of the ice chest. They all just assumed, that for every shot you took, you could get a beer. No one ever asked any questions about it.

I started to walk down to the dock, to enjoy the sunset and my beers in peace, away from the crowd I was in. Levi looked like he was having the most funnest time in his life, with his friends. I didn't want to spoil that for him, hanging around the whole time.  That would have been a buzz kill for his friends. I was getting a little intimidated anyway, being the only women in their little crowd of laughter.

I got to the edge of the dock that nobody seemed to notice. It was so peaceful sitting there, watching the sun set behind the mountains. All the people that were in the water, were playing some water volleyball game. I watched them for a bit and noticed it was a drinking game.

Who ever couldn't keep the ball from touching the water, was out and had to go take a shot. They would tap it gently to each other back and forth to random players. After watching for a little more time, I understood another rule of the game. If you punched it to far out of the game play, you were out too.

It was funny to watch, as people tried to come back and play. They were plastered and could barely walk. Some of the more sober players, would tell them they were to drunk to play anymore and kick them out.

They didn't ever protest either. These people knew they had enough, once someone told them. That was reassuring, cause I thought about what might happen if someone needed to be rescued from the water. I was trying to relax and didn't want to preform CPR on anyone at the moment. Not that I was certified, but I knew enough from college to at least help out if needed.

The sun setting was so romantic to watch. My mind drifted to Levi leaving his crowd and coming to join me. I knew that wasn't going to happen anytime soon though, with him cooking and being the host of the party and all. So I sat there by myself drinking one of my beers I opened. I put my feet in the water and then leaned back on my elbows.

While catching the rays of the sunset, a hand came up out of the water and grabbed my ankle hard. Pulling me off the dock, into the water.

I panicked and turn around to grab the dock for some kind of leverage, to stop myself from being pulled from so much force. The boards to the dock though, were to close together to get a good grip on them.

I screamed.

With the music playing, plus the volleyball game going on nearby, no one noticed. It was to late to scream again louder, cause I was pulled completely under water after that.
