Chapter 28

Thank God, 4th of July landed on a Friday. I wanted to be able to enjoy the night, with some drinks and didn't plan to come home afterwards.

The day of the party, I was so nervous on what to wear. I wanted to be comfortable, but the thought of Liam seeing me in a bikini freaked me out. Levi said to plan on getting wet, then of course he made one of his perverted comments by saying (The water was not the only thing that would get me wet, for the night.) We laughed together over the phone about that. I was still scared though, to be going with Liam being there.

I winded up convincing myself to be an adult about the situation. I have been doing a good job avoiding him for weeks. I was sure I could do it for one night, too. I will just try to be not where he is, as much as possible.

I did wonder about the tone in his voice when he said thank you to me, the other day. It sounded beat down. Like he was trying his hardest to avoid me too and it just wasn't working anymore.

Then him and Levi meeting up shortly after that. So many questions running through my mind. I decided to push them all away, as I got ready for the party.

I put my black bikini on and wore some loose fitting Capri pants, with a spaghetti strapped tank top over it. I did have a shorter pair of shorts to wear, but didn't want to reveal to much skin walking around. I lathered my entire body with coconut oil and then spritz myself with some sunscreen too. I did not want to wear any makeup, if I decided to go swimming.

The oil gives my skin a nice glowing shine, while I am in the water. I also grabbed an extra pair of clothes, so I could change into something dry afterwards. Just in case my clothes get wet, somehow.

I stopped at a store on my way out there, to pick up some wine coolers to bring as a partying gift. While I was in line, I saw some colorful stand up fireworks and picked a couple of those up too.

When I arrived at the lake house, I noticed it must have been a pretty big party. There was no where to park my car. I traveled up the street a bit, until I found a spot on the side of the road. It was a tight spot, but I managed to squeeze in.

I grabbed my clothes, my purse on the wine coolers and got out. It was away down to the house, from where I had to park. I heard load music playing when I got closer, coming from his back yard. It was playing Walk This Way by Aerosmith.

I smiled to myself when I got to the door to knock. That was a good song. Levi really had good taste, when it came to music.

The door opened, with a pretty women standing before me. She had on some short shorts and a bikini top. She looked a little plastered, trying to catch who I was with one eye open. She was nice though, when she actually spoke.

"Hi I'm Amber." She said, with a smile and continued studying my capris. "Who's bait are you tonight?"

"No ones. The owner of the house invited me." I said politely, chuckling at her comment. "Thanks though." I snickered, as I walked past her to the kitchen.

She shut the door, waddling her way behind me. She instantly noticed what I had in my hands.

"Aahh, no way!! Wine coolers. Oh girl, you rock!! Shit these men here always have either beer or shots around the house at these parties." She said and took one out, after I set them down on the table.

I adventured outside to a bunch of different kind of business people. Some were causual, some in bathingsuits, some in swim trunks and some looked like they just stepped out of a court.

The backyard was all bright, with lots of white Christmas lights hung up everywhere. The dock also had lights on the sides, running down to the water. There was a pretty big crowd of people to the side of the yard, where there was smoke coming from. I assumed that was the BB-Q, cause it smelled really good.

I sat down on the swing soaking up the view, not really wanting to make a scene if Levi sees me. I was hoping he wouldn't get to touchy-feely, while all these people were around. I would feel so embarrassed in front of his friends that I didn't know.

From what I saw, there was about 30 people at the most here. Some were out swimming, some were walking around talking to each other, some were dancing and of course the crowd around the BB-Q, was getting some good laughs.

The music wasn't as loud, as I thought at first. I guess it was the echo coming from the mountains, that made it sound louder than it really was. There was no sign of Liam or Levi, but I figured they must be in the crowd around the BB-Q. This was his house and I'm sure he was cooking for his guests.

A man came up to the swing and pulled off a towel, that was hanging to dry his dripping body of water off. He looked like he had a few to many too, when he introduced himself.

"Hey there, were's your drink?" He said, not waiting for a reply from me and almost slipping on the concrete porch, to get to the kitchen.

He came back a few minutes later holding a bowl of Jell-O shots and sat down next to me.

"Here." He said and handed me the bowl. I looked down at the little green squares and then back at him without saying anything.

He smiled

"Have some."

I chuckled and grabbed a few and popped them in my mouth.

"Mmm, those are good. You make those?"

"No, some of the girls from work did. So what branch you work for?" He asked and grabbed a couple from the bowl, that were sitting on my lap.

"I work for Mr. Knu-" I cut myself off real quick. "Um, I mean Liam. I'm his secretary."

"Oh no shit! Damn girl! How long you been there?"

"About 4 months." I replied and then a thought of Liam, raced through my head again.

"Well congrats on the job. I've heard about his brother's secretaries. They usually don't last that long." He laughed and stuck out his hand to shake it. "My names Kevin, I work with Levi. What's your name?"

"Sierra." I said snapping out of my daze, smiling at him and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you Kevin, I think I'm going to find a better drink though, ok. Excuse me." I handed him the bowl of Jell-O shots and walked towards the laughing crowd around the BB-Q.
